Would you consider Necromancy Witchcraft?

Post » Thu Jul 25, 2013 6:50 am

Because I like the idea of making a witch. With alchemy and enchanting no doubt.

So yeah, no doubt that I will use a blade as some sort of ritual weapon. (Miraak's sword, I'm coming for ya!) Light armor aswell, because Vampire armor.

And destruction magic, though I'm not sure between shock and frost. Frost is awesome looking and fits a Nord in the first place. But shock seems more traditional for a witch.

Anyway, back to the question, Necromancy.

I want to use conjuration aswell, but I don't really like the idea of atronachs for this one. So Necromancy is probably better.

But Necromancy? Would that be one of the things that you could consider "witchcraft"?

A side note.

This isn't a typical "old hag" kind of witch who likes poisoned apples.

More of a mystical and mysterious witch with eternal youth.

It's plausible, since necromancy is one method of achieving immortality (although this immortality isn't like the sort of eternal youth you see in films like Stardust).

Then again I could always summon Dremora at the moments where I don't feel like using Necromancy.

Witches like Demons... :P

Here are some creatures that would fit my witch.

Soul Cairn minions (Necromancy)

Seekers (Mainly because of the way they look, I think.)

Dremora lords (Though it may be slightly odd because my witch doesn't use fire.)

Familiars (Much as a pet)

I think it depends on what kind of "witch" you are going for. Necromacy may be a valid choice or it might not. Lots of witches revere nature and are excellent healers. So summoning animals for help and alchemy/restoration are valid ways to go also.

More of a witch who'se interested in darkness and spiritual stuff.

She isn't evil though. She enjoys nature aswell in a more gloomy way, and will use alchemy to make poisons and potions.

Cool. Seems to me she's more of just a neutral witch who will use the tools given to her and not classify them as good/evil but as implements to use to get her end result. That may be "good" or "bad" depending on her intent. Those are fun type characters to play :).

I'll sleep some days about this character though. So that I'm sure if I really want this.

Not sure i would class a necromancer as a witch at all but i do take your point that there could be crossover, necromancers however are a whole different ball game

Personally, I made my Male Witch/Sorcerer wear forsworn armor, with a caster hood (apprentice fits best color wise, but your choice). He is also a Vampire Lord too.

I personally use ice spells (points in that skill tree), with some lightning (no points in the tree though) , and necromancy tree in conjuring. I also use some illusion to "bewitch" people, It just seems like every wizard does elemental daedra summonings, but very few use necromancy. It is like having power over life and death. Restoration I did a lot of points in too (for necromage!)

Necromancy counts as black magic.

Considering mine's going to be a "dark witch", black magic would be very fitting.

So yeah.

I'm bussy with my Champion Of Auri-El right now, so I got plenty of time to think.

Err...wouldn't any kind of magic be considered witchcraft?
