A DLC where you are stripped of all your gear at the start, and left to scrounge for new items?
A DLC where you are stripped of all your gear at the start, and left to scrounge for new items?
No thanks, I would prefer something more 4-ish, Fallout4-ish.
Personally I think, because of the non-existent level cap, a dead money/the pitt style DLC will be frustrating for most players.
Just think DLC should extend your characters play and build, without removing items from you.
Could be cool for like one or two enclosed quests where you get your items back at the end of the quest.
I don't mind it, at least it makes sense in it but I would like some variation or even having local items that might be more worth while to use insted.
I liked the Pitt but Dead Money was repetitive and boring.
I'm not a fan of having my character's gear taken away...unless there is a very, very compelling story reason to do so. My character's gear is part of who they are. I often make unique modded gear especially for a particular character to wear for the duration of a game. Taking that away is like taking a part of my character away.
Most of the time it feels like a gimmick.
No. As much as I liked the concept and gameplay of Dead Money, I really don't like DLC's that trap you into a location until you finish with that location. If a DLC offers a new area, I want it to just be an area extended from the main map, where my character can still move freely between the main map and the DLC areas. I'd say similar to Point Lookout when it comes to a new area, but my problem with that DLC is that you can't bring your companion. I want to be able to bring my chosen companion to the new areas. Basically, I don't want to feel that my character is "now entering the DLC" but have it smoothly integrated with the rest of the game and with the same rules applied. Most current DLC just feel tacked on and not like real parts of the game.
Dead money was just awful. I hated being forced into using whatever was laying around. Hacking ghosts with spears was driving me crazy. Where is my AMR, or at the very least, Ratslayer. I spent a lot of money on That Gun, because I wanted to use it, not because I wanted to use implements from the shed to hack things to death. There wasn't even anything from Dead Money that I wanted to take back with me when I left there, except the gold bars which you couldn't take without some complex trick-fool-ery.
I liked the silenced weapon from the Pitt, and that was about it.
Let me use the character I have come to know and love in the DLC.
edit: To be honest, I did like the story of dead money, but not the rest of it.
yup ^^ definitely
I just don't want to see those annoying collars from Dead Money anymore
but having to search new gear and new weapons would improve my experience with the DLC
Even better, if they can make a DLC-only perk system (like they did with werewolfs in Skyrim) <3
I would love to simply play another character in the DLC... just to experience more of the Fallout lore, without being limited to the Boston survivor, we're all playing
Voted yes. Simply because some of the options are insanely powerful. Great, I have a weapon where I can kill a behemoth in a few shots. How in the hell can a developer balance that sort of dps output in a dlc?
Honestly though, I think we will see a re-balance patch before any dlc. Otherwise anyone with an explosive minigun/shotgun is just going to rip the dlc apart in record time and be complaining on the forums about lack of difficulty.
No. Both were boring, especially Pitt. At least Money had humor.
No I prefer something like Dawnguard and Dragonborn. Give me a new area but keep my companion and gear. I really like Dead Money( besides the collar thing. That was just annoying) but I can do without another one.
So ... basically restarting the game. No thanks.
My idea is something like an Operation Anchorage. After reading someone's post it got me thinking, and either you continue your current game, have a "dream sequence" or a "memory sequence" which will start the quest, or when starting a new game you already start this DLC. So once the DLC starts you are in pre-war.
You start at level 1, so level one when starting a new game or if playing a current game you are reset to level 1. You continue the DLC/story until it's done. By the time you are done you can be around level 10. If starting a new game, then you will start off as level 10. As part of the DLC you will have a real Survival Mode where the game is harder, but not bullet sponges. If you are continuing a character, then this is your chance to respect everything you wanted. Depending on your level it can be a moot point to respect but for other it can be a god send, take away picks you have and don't want anymore.
I agree. That was Pitt and it was the Pitts.
Might as well just start a new game.
My question is, do you think they could create a dlc that is balanced? On one of my playthroughs on survival I had over 100 stims. Several thousand rounds of pretty much all ammo. And all that was before level 40.
I am dreading them coming up with a solution like they did for fallout 3. Create monsters with 3-4x the amount of hp and deal insane damage. Anyone recall the nightmare ghoul reavers and albino scorpions?
I think you'd need to define what you mean by "balanced". If you mean a DLC that the majority of us people that do not play on survival could play without getting completely frustrated, just with higher level opponents (not just bullet sponges, I agree), then, I would say: "I hope so" (kind of like they did with the Dark Arisen add on to Dragons Dogma or any of the DLC's for Dragon Age: Inquisition).
However, it seems to be Beth's methodology to release what are essentially "expansions" rather than true DLC's. F3 had it's DLC's, but they were mostly just continuations of story lines or variations of the stories already there without any real, new and different things even the Point and the Pitt weren't really any more difficult (although the Pitt, at least you had to start from scratch with weapons and armor, although you retained everything else). Dawnguard and Dragonborn weren't really anything more than expansions. They could be played at any level and the opponents weren't any more difficult than the ones elsewhere in the game.
I am saying no, mostly because when i've spent so much time crafting my weapons, getting the armour i want etc, and then having it taken away just for a story reason svcks! Also how does Dead Money make sense? Why wouldn't/shouldn't Elijah's goon bring your equipment with you? He needs firepower to get in to the Casino anyway. Atleast in The Pitt there is a reason for it, and you get them back before bleep hits the fan.
I'd rather them focus on story and setting and various NPC interactions (including the non-combat options many have been asking for) rather than them worrying about combat balance or putting in more bullet sponges.
I like to go to cartoon land where I can hunt that Wascally Wabbit, Roger Rabbit, Daffy Duck, Mickey Mouse and them cartoon characters, but not Elmer Fudd, Wile E. Coyote, Yosemite Sam, Tasmanian Devil and Marvin the Martian.
I'll keep the gear I have worked so hard to acquire and make unique, thank you very much.
