Would you like Fallout 4 to move back west?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:29 pm

not sure fall out should take place out of the us of a if you ask me, i'm pretty new to fall out so i wouldn't care, but probaly lots of vets don't like it ... someone mentioned turkey here, i have visited istanbul once in my life, a quit intresting city that was, islamity was fully introduced in istanbul and all orthox buildings where 'reshaped' to the islam, but that also my cause problems now-a-days.

I'm not from america, i never been on vacation to the states (i'm planning, long therms), never visited washington other than in series and documentaires (most recently the awesome politicial drama, the west wing, but since politicis isn't tolerated here i'm not going into that) ... I like where Beth did put Fall Out, also would make lots of sense since it isn't interfering with Interplays westcoast ...

Maybe a bit more south from where the game is taking place, that might be a nice reference to the americian civil war, the americian war against slavery ....

I like the idea of a city, like DC with many very recognizable landmarks. To get the maximum number of people this probably means NYC, London, Paris, Rome, maybe Venice.

AS to Texas--how could you tell if was post nuclear war, its a wasteland already.

There is a thing trough but more for a spin-off the european files, i know the europe was full of bickering city states, but i can't belive all civilization was wiped out here ... and even than i'f people turned into ghouls overthere, why not in europe ...

I would love to see the lowlands in a post apocalyptic game, many parts of the lowlands (would say denmark, north west germany, the netherlands, belgium, northern france), would be overflown with lots of water (atleast in the netherlands 50% atleast is under sea level), but it would be pretty cool to see it, this game is not going to have a lots of high mountains, and only a couple of rocks and low mountainranges like the ardennes (i'f introduced) ... The dutch engineers of the netherlands have always been quit ingenious with dealing with water (from the sixteen century on) so i'm sure in a fall out world wouldn't be different.

I would like Fallout 4 to be some place more northern like Canada or maybe even the UK. It would be nice to see snow and how radiation affected snowy climates.

i completely agree, if canada, imagine facing supermutants in the radioactive snow, that itself would bring a new survival set to the game because of the snow everywhere (asuming the time is based in winter season)

I wonder what's going on in Europe at that time.

Would be cool to be in a city where there are a lot of landmarks: Rome comes to mind. If it wasn't so taboo you could have a lot of fun with religion also, the Vatican being right there.

I like DC, because of the landmarks and since there would be a lot of old documents and stuff people could probably figure out a lot about what it was like before the war.

I want to see the Enclave build up a suitable power base to launch an attack on China to finish them off. The story could be you are:

1) An Enclave grunt
2) Hired merc (by either China or Enclave)
3) Chineese defense
4) Chineese "wastelander" just caught up in a bunch of hell
5) American special forces who got stuck in China after the bombs hit

On top of that options to play

1) Human
2) Goul
3) Android
4) Mime

Time line can really be anytime. Immediately after the bombs hit or hundreds of years after. Doesn't really matter.

I think this would be a nice departure from the previous FO games.

I would still like to see it on the West Coast, but that is only because I am from there and so I am a bit partial to it. :P

However, seeing new locales and areas is always refreshing, I think.

Well I am from the UK and I do not see why apart from the old die hards Fallout should NOt be in a location like London or paris

the factions would be different in the main using a non usa setting

example Fallout london factions

Knights of the Crown (Royalist faction)
Hellfire Division ( UK mill/ind faction like Enclave)
Order of the Round Tbl ( BoS Type mixed with arthurian theme)
Euroshield Faction (EU Copycat vault-tech)
Survivors
Raiders

I'm kinda thinking that if Bethesda shows the same progression with this series as they did with TES, FO4 may take place in Monaco or Vatican City.

I'd prefer if they moved it back into the "RPG" genre

I still think that the Colorado Springs area is ripe for exploitation in a post-nuclear world. Cheyenne Mountain is the headquarters of NORAD. Don't tell me nothing interesting happened in that area during the war.

Somewhere large like New York or Chicago. You need instantly recognizable geography (sorry Texas - your cities are pretty forgettable). And it should stay in North America. The whole kitchy 50's sci-fi theme culture is just too "us" to go anywhere else.

Washington D.C. was a good choice this time around.

Not the first (or even second time) I've said it... New York City. It's the perfect size, and one of the most recognizable cities in the US.

Granted, I love that FO3 was in D.C. because it's iconic (and I used to live in Falls Church), but once was enough.

Outside the US but of course follwing story line. Alaska, China would be my first guess, but why not move to europe orr somewhere else. They'd have new sorts of enemys, not just always super muties and raiders...Get some new opponents would refresh it. Like a whole bunch of surviving chinese battalion would be fun and new mutated enemys.

Voted somewhere else in the US. I'd like to see the west coast again, but I'm not sure how beth would handle all the familiar places and faces there so preferably not west coast. And while, as a european, I'd love to see how FO setting handles Europe, I don't think it would be much of a Fallout anymore since FO relies too much on americanism. Maybe a spinoff, but not Fallout 4.

Pre-wall collapse Berlin..

Would suit the cold-war theme perfectly.

I think the biggest mistake Bethesda made with Fallout 3 is moving it to the east coast, especially to DC, which I find is a very boring city and so not fallouty. I believe that Fallout's soul rests on the west coasts and no where else that same feeling, lore and atmosphere can be achieved. If Bethesda wanted to get away from original area of Fallout i think Seattle, WA would be the best choice. So yeah, i want Fallout 4 to take place in Seattle area. What do you think? Where would you want it?

Actually i think Bethesda wanted to move out of the original area of Fallout because if they stay at the same location,
hardcoe fans will definitely whine about how different they have made it and how it is so different from FO1 and FO2,
how Bethesda [censored] their childhood or something lol. It'll feel more like a remake than a sequel.

Good decision on Beth's part IMO to move it to Washington DC. I personally find it
kind of haunting to see the capital of united states to be reduced to a rubble, especially
sad to see the head of lincoln memorial missing.

Still, my vote would be for China, since the war was fought between US and China, so China would be a
logical place for a fallout scenario. Either that or New York City is a nice choice i think. I always wanna see
how the Statue of Liberty would look like in the Fallout Universe.

Fallout 4 should be a combination of the storylines of Fallout 1 *and* Fallout 2 because of how old the original fallout games are, and unrecognized by the current mass market. Bethesda would also have a significantly smaller design workload.

I don't see difference in where or when the fallout become, soon there will be GECK and everything will change)
But I also vote for returning to West Coast just because I love LA( though I live in Moscow))
