Would you like to revist the dungeon tuturial?

Post » Mon Sep 06, 2010 12:51 pm

I was reading another thread and not to derail that thread, I will make a new one here. So after leaving your starting place,
or dungeon tuturial would you like to revisit it again? I never done it in Arena, and since Daggerfall is so big, I forgot about
it, but you can in Morroiwnd (missed I didn't see the prison ship again though) and to a degree in Oblvion
(but wished I could go back to all of it) and to a degree you can in Fallout 3.

I would like to revisit it when ever I wanted and see the "old haunting grounds" when ever I liked. In Fallout 3 and New Vegas
it wasn't much of a big deal, but for the TES games Morrowind and Oblivion, I liked going back to where I started. I guess
being in the place when the game started for the first time was great.

Talking about revisiting the tuturial quests, in Morrowind I was saddened I didn't get to revist Juib again. I don't know why
but I wanted to see him again. I liked how he was mentioned in Oblivion, (didn't he go to Akavir?) and since Skyrim has
something to do with Akavir (I don't know in what way) I would like to see Juib there. I think it would be neet.

So what do you guys and gals think?

Morrowind didn't really have a tutorial dungeon, or a tutorial anything. They just told you where your menus where and dumped you out on the street of some backwater town, suggesting that you might need to go visit the nearest shop. I personally loved that. The handholding popups that Oblivion threw at you every five seconds during the first dungeon got old before they even started.

That said, I don't want to be able to revisit the dungeon tutorial, because I don't think there should be a dungeon tutorial. Juib died after ridding Morrowind of cliffracers.

Would you like to revisit the dungeon tuturial? Maybe. It was fun in Oblivion but ultimately a let down in Fallout 3. I guess this just prove that a simple quest is sometimes better than a bigger and little more complicated quest with more options. Anyway, yes that might be fun but like in Oblivion and Fallout 3, i would need a good reason to return.

Do you want to see Juib again? You mean Jiub? i thought he was dead.

Juib maybe dead, but if he went to Akavir couldn't we see him there? I don't know what Akavir is. So I thought maybe he could be mentinoed or even see him there. I thought Akavir was something like a place where the dead meet. Something like Stobelcore or how ever it's spelt where the Klingons warriors dies.

I don't mind a tutorial like the dungeon but after you play it for the first time their should be an option to skip it if you go to start a NEW game and not just load from the sewer grate door.

And yes I would like to visit again if I had a mind to. I thought this game was about freedom or something.

Like in The elder scrolls I liked the dungen tutorial but after creating a numerious amount of charaters - because of accidental saves over my charater by my brother - i saw that the tutorial was forced and got boring rather quickly after the second time through. I think that the tutorial should be like a dungen again but with an option to go through it or not.

I'd like a completely different tutorial that depends on the main quest.

Also isn't Jiub dead?

Nerevar died over 3,000 years ago. The Nerevarine is rumored to have gone to Akavir, but it's a bold-faced lie from every angle.

I'd rather not have a tutorial dungeon.

For jiub, he's dead, and I'd rather not see his corpse :sadvaultboy:

But i would like to see someone similar to him, someone who wakes you up and and says something similar to what jiub says. Valen dreth just wasnt the same.

This. I'd like to similarly be dumped into a backwater Nordic village or even better just shoved out into the closest snow drift and have to find my way to civilization. Sure, a few basics should be taught, like movement and equipping a weapon and whatnot, but then I'd like to be left to figure it out. TES games aren't really that difficult to learn either.

Of course, in Oblivion they used the "tutorial" dungeon to setup the story. I suppose that is alright, but I kind of also preferred in Morrowind that you really had to discover the story, and that it was easier to ignore. In Morrowind, I could easily dismiss the mission because I just got out of prison, and its a simple piece of paper to report to some Imperial... pfft whatever. But in Oblivion, if you ignore the main quest, you kind of feel like a [censored]. I mean, the guy died in front of you and gave you the amulet and this quest... and now your just running around Cyrodiil doing whatever you like while the world could potentially end any day? Yea...

I'll be interested to see whatever they do, they could take it in an entirely new direction, but just as a comparison I think I prefer the start of Morrowind to Oblivion.

IF we have to have a crappy tutorial dungeon again, I don't see nay reason why not to let people back in.
And no, I would rather a new NPC. Someone like Jiub, but awesome in their own way.

I dont mind tutorial dungeons on one condition: Don't make them essential to the main story/quest line (such as Oblivions, with the death of the emperor at the end.) so that I can choose to skip it instead of playing through with every character. I can play through each quest line multiple times before getting sick of them, but the tutorial dungeons only once or twice.

And no, i dont want to see Jiub again. He was a character of no significance and i do not understand his popularity. I want to hear rumours of his horrific death at the hands of Uncle Curio.

I loved Morrowind's thing going on.

You leave the ship, sign some transference papers/release papers, talk to a Legion honcho, get some basic marching orders, and get tossed out onto yer naked asscheeks into Seyda Neen. THAT, my friends, was FREEDOM. Then, you go back to see what you can do about your mate Jiub, and...he's gone. Forever. And it kind of stamps the "I'm nobody in a new land with nothing" thing into the brain, and then you set off for all that is fame and glory.

curious how only morrowind did not make you start in a dungeon.

i did not dislike oblivion's starting dungeon, but it angered me that i had to dl a mod to skip it....

Well you can always have a permant saved game before you exit the sewers.
I just wish we had a warning for this. New Vegas didn't give you this warning
but at least they let you skip the tuturial though.

But still a warning would be nice so you can save your game, or the game it's self makes a
permanent save so you don't have to do the tuturial if you don't want to.

I liked the dungeon tutorial, and I liked the way it suggested a class. I would, however, like to have the option to skip it.

I wouldn't mind doing a tutorial dungeon, but I'd rather not have it be essential to the MQ, like Oblivions. I kinda hated having to go straight to Jauffre or keeping the Amulet on my person for the rest of the game.

Do the tutorial like it was in New Vegas: Entirely optional.
