Sorry, but I call Bull-[Censored], You're given a quest in the :obliviongate:

Spoiler

MQ for Oblivion to save the Count's son of [Some place I forget the name of], and the other
"Knights of the Thorn", from an oblivion gate that they entered and tried to close.

So yeah, You do save stuff in TES. :mohawk:

Yes...cause TES series never involved saving anyone.

No, but ... 'cause TES-games (normally) don't use / need fantasy-cliches like a dragon (= fierce biest, that kills / eats / burns people - including a princess / damsel) stealing a beauty.

If she knew how to fight, then yes. However, if all she could do was follow me, I say no. I hate when you have to save someone in a game and they don't do anything.

A...twist?

The quest opens with Dovakiin fighting a dragon with another dragon that he summoned with a stollen dragonshout, the dragon will of course be voiced by Samuel L Jackson, and a nuclear explosion happens but they survive because they're in space. And then aliens arrive and they try to take over the world but president Morgan Freeman convinces them that this is a bad idea- wait come back you didn't hear the plot twist where it turns? out that Dovakiin is actually a dragon!

Of course I would save a damsel in distress, she would be so trusting an appreciative that it'd make her an easy target to mug afterward.

Perhaps it should be the endquest of the MQ. The damsel is guarded by a dragon. You kill the dragon. The damsel transforms in a dragon. You kill that dragon. You escape the dungeon which was actually the belly of a dragon. You shout at it and defeat it. A cutscene starts and sees you walking towards the horizon. The camera zooms out only to show that you're actually walking on a dragon and Skyrim means 'giant dragon' in dragontongue. The giant dragon swats you like a fly but you jump away. The words "The End?" appear and credits start to roll.... which turn out to be dragons.

well would yah? just sorta curios, lets say a dragon took her away and the side / free form quest was to save her would you do it, and if it was possible for her to be your companion :hubbahubba:

Hm. Maybe. Sounds a bit sixist to me.

However, like many other fantasy adventures TES is careful to be at least somewhat equal-opportunity where it comes to the hero-ing :). Perhaps I could help the damsel rescue her stinking rich old da, and get a choice of reward - "More money than you know what to do with, but you have to teach my daughter how to be a proper adventurer... or I distract her to give you a head start, and I tell her you ran the other way. Lovely child of course, just like her mother, love her dearly, but she is a bit... enthusiastic, isn't she?"

My first playthrough character is your a-typical hero. So, yes, He'd go well out of his way to save someone.

Wouldn't it be fun if you kill the damsel before getting the rescue-the-damsel-quest and the Radiant Story replaces her with a fat Bosmer who gives you a chicken for a reward.

What do I get out of it? Some lame romance? Nah. A huge pile of gold from her rich father? Now you're speaking my language.

Win detected.

:o And then it turns out, your whole life has been inside of a dragon...nah

Anyways, I think it'd be cool to have a fine lady, who swoons over you as you kill the dragon and save her...
On the flip-side I think it'd be a cool assassination quest to sneak into the castle posing as her rescuer and then kill her/throw her to the dragon when you do find her

Arthus will do the deed because inside hes a pushover for those who don't deserve harm. But he will not let her come with him, obviously she would be a liability to hard to stay reliable for.

Why can't the damsel and the dragon be perfectly happy with each other?

That could be the twist. You 'saved' her when the only reason she was screaming was because she knew you were coming to kill her former lover, who once earned the displeasure of Alduin for dragon-napping dragon's eggs for alchemical purposes. She proceeds to show you just how unhappy she is by trapping you inside a mirror, where you must then face your mirror-self in order to escape, and you proceed to kill the ugly old hag who was pretending to be the princess you intended to rescue.

At which point, you start to hear a very cold, very sarcastic wheeze-laugh emanate from the walls, the ground, the trees, and you realize Alduin is the one laughing.

Or, better yet, are "together" - and the damsel is very upset you just killed her lover... ;)

Either that, or the damsel can't wait to introduce you to her girlfriend. Either way, it would be an awesome kick in the pants.

I'm only saving a damsel if (s)he has some information I really need, or I'm being paid good money for it. And I leave a clause in the contract that if I hear one complaint, they're going back where I found 'em. Otherwise, don't care, let 'em die, I'm not in the rescuing business.
