I think some creatures like Horses and Cats if not driven to near extinction are just that. Extinct. Though I do believe there can be places where they survived, but until Beth confirms that it's safe to assume they are dead.

It'd be a Schwinn.
Had to go with neither, but it depends. If landscape extends far enough, then sure, why not. But I don't expect it to. I could never get used to riding in Skyrim because of its forced third person and really weird control (too many of my deaths involved a horse), in the end I gave it up.
But if the landscape is "small enough" (although it can never get too big) to support walking as main mean of travel, I'm all for that as long as I get fast travel supported by game mechanics (or I just can't use it). The trailer kind of suggests this can be the case.
As for vehicles, I don't think I'd want anything more than a bicycle - exposed to lead and environment, silent means not breaking "stealth" mechanics, you probably can't carry followers, likely to be a horrible shot, and doesn't get you past anything too quick, while presenting an interesting alternative to getting around. Vehicle rubber could be easily fixed.
So yeah, I have to say no to both initially, but maybe bikes if landscape warrants it.
If we get a map like the classics then a vehicle would be very nice. If it's a sandbox like the other Bethesda games then no.
If the trailer shows accurate gameplay in the vertiberd sequences then actually mounts are in the game.
It might be a less annoying way to handle fast travel if you instead call in a vertibird evac. Would also solve the only fast traveling to exteriors issue I have with it.
You bet! I actually would like to use tanks and cars and what ever I could get my hands on. That was always a big wish for me when playing Fallout 3! XD
I doubt we'll be able to pilot the vertibirds our-self, but that would be a really pleasant surprise. All I can think of is when the Dragonborn DLC came out and everyone was complaining that you couldn't actually fly the dragons wherever you wanted. You could still fly on a freaking dragon.
For free-roam vertibirds we'd probably have to get open cities and traversable rooftops for them to not introduce any weirdness. As for fast-travel in interiors, I'd love it if we could fast-travel back to the exit of any locations marked as "cleared". It would eliminate the need for any sort of shortcut back to the entrance, with the exception of locations where we can't go back the regular path.

No because it changes the nature of the world environment in my opinion.
To make vehicles a more prominent part of the game then you would need to extend the world and as a result a lot more of it would become more barren and empty. Much for the environment would be scenery between point A & B on the map. While walking around in the game creates the environment of everything being closer, connected and more individual.
I wouldn't be against the idea of mounts/transport, but i wouldn't use them myself in the game as i prefer to go on foot and we all know how bad Bethesda are at implementing rid-able mounts into their games.
If the map's big enough, then preferably an old junker vehicle like the Highwayman in F2. Otherwise, no, just walking as usual.
Horses are extinct in the Fallout universe. Not to mention, you'd probably break a horse's back trying to mount it if you were in Power Armor. Plus, i'm pretty sure a Deathclaw could easily chase down a Horse.
I don't want another Highwayman. I want a rideable Mole Rat.
Yes, they do but they have mutated.
Contrary to popular belief, radscorpions are mutated horses and not mutated emperor scorpions as some people theorize.
Hell, the vault dweller that came out of vault 77 even used one as a mount (after the ant died).
I would like horses, but don't just throw them into the universe without explanation.. Somehow, they have to be sheltered from the nuclear war (unharmed valley?). It would be rather difficult for horses to survive against guns though..
Maybe something like a Radstaillion. A mutated horse that travels slightly faster than the Player Character, and maybe if you got a human character you gotta get another Radstallion for him/her.
I would like to see both. Mutated horses; junk-rusted, make-shift cars. Especially if the map size is as big as the rumours are made out to be. Traveling along by foot across miles of wasteland will be utterly dull. Again. Ha.
