Would you like spears in the game if... : V

they were not usable by the player or NPCs? Like if certain monsters could use them, so there wouldn't be the balancing issue, or traps that have spears thrusting at you? Just a thought.

Who wants Spears if they can't use them? It would be like mocking everyone who wants one to see them in the game but only wielded by monsters.

an absolutely TERRIBLE IDEA. OP.

all things an enemy uses should be lootable.

if spears were in but only for enemies.. it would be a great insult to the player.

I'd like spears in general, but it doesn't bother me that they're not in.

I doubt any of the people claiming to be so upset by there not being spears are doing anything more than blowing smoke. You'll see them in line to buy the game on release day, despite the claims.

Actually this could work pretty well, even if some would inevitably see it as Bethesda taunting them...

Eg, a static mesh and creature-specific anims for Hircine w/ spear wouldn't be inappropriate.

My reason for spears not being in the game is because the art of spear making and combat has been lost wtih the Dunmer province of Morrowind.

I never really wanted it myself, but I got the idea after seeing all the spear threads and it was even asked about in the podcast.

This way people can still technically have spears in the game, without it being an issue for the game developers, I guess.

What about it has been childish? We've given a hundred different reasons why, from historical examples to gameplay perspectives, spears would improve the game, in addition to the fact that we are paying customers and it is a feature we would like to see, and is certainly not a stretch of the imagination. A medieval RPG? With an extremely common medieval weapon? The audacity! I think it's been childish they way everyone else has said "Spearz? LOL, [censored]" Some of the most ignorant comments I've ever seen have been against spears.

* I actually censored that myself. I was using an common internet acronym, and the censor changed it to a different phrase.
