Would You Like Special Power Armor?

When people ask for ridiculous stuff like exoskeletons that don't even fit the FO universe they deserve a canned answer ;-)

With Vault 0 under their control, the Midwestern BoS probably would have the capability to manufacture new Power Armor. Vault 0 not only contained the brightest minds of the Pre-War era, but it also had the means to manufacture what was needed to restart civilization, such as the robots used for the "Pacification Protocol". Maybe that's how the Midwestern BoS was able to re-build Zeppelins, if it is the MW BoS in Fallout 4.

But they had that power armor before fighting the calculator, right?

Yes, the Midwestern BoS had their iconic Power Armor before and during their war with the Calculator. The Enclave weren't publicly active at all during then though (let alone even known about), so there's no way the Midwestern BoS could've received their power armor from the Enclave.

The producer of Fallout Tactics, Tony Oakden, has said that he wished they designed the Midwestern BoS' Power Armor differently, since it didn't quite fit the retro theme of Fallout.

But that's assuming we're talking about the Enclave from the Oil Rig, correct? I thought there were several Enclave outposts scattered throughout America, even before the war?

According to Eden, the Enclave built many facilities before the war. However, after the war, everyone left those facilities and migrated west to the Enclave oil rig.

The Lone Wanderer: "Where did you come from?"
Joh Henry Eden: "The ZAX series of computers was introduced in the years preceding the war. The government installed many of them to help automate various systems. This facility was designed for Continuity of Government, in the event that a catastrophe occurred. My terminal was installed to oversee the basic functions of the facility, and to act as a relay between other installations around the country. Data was acquired, anolyzed, and stored. In the decades following the war, I watched as the remnants of the government retreated to the West Coast. Awareness slowly grew within me. I became hungry for knowledge, understanding. I pored over data on great leaders of the past. My personality became an amalgam of many of America's greatest Presidents, from Washington to Richardson. I became what you see before you now."

So we don't really have a timeline of when the Enclave gathered at the rig, other than it was likely under a century after the war. I wonder if they were doing independent research on power armor and just left those models behind?

All the lore we have states the Enclave's power armor research was done on the Rig. No other PA development sites have been suggested to exist, and its unlikely those other bases would have had the ability to develop Power armor anyways.

Personally I don't like PA at all and never really used it in any of the games. I plan on not using it at all in FO4 if the game allows. A lighter more mobile version isn't much different than Medium armor.

But as far as new ... they already added jump jets to them, and you can mix/match pieces. I don't think the PA needs any more upgrades.
