Would you pay for more Radio New Vegas?

Post » Mon Aug 03, 2009 5:38 am

I would. Not more than a couple of euros, but even that could make a profitable DLC.

Radio New Vegas is highly entertaining, especially after you have done something more important and the news changes. But only very few of the quests give news, so much more could be added. The music in the channel is in general great as well, but also gets repetitive. I don't mind that it is mostly same kind of music, but too often it are the few exactly same songs.

No, because CONELRAD/ any radio mod really is free.

I won't pay more money for something that should have been more extensive in the first place; if you can't afford to pay the VA more, get a less-known VA who'll work for less and record more lines.

As gamers, we really don't need to encourage companies releasing like one new item and calling it "DLC" like Bioware seems to be fond of doing. Stuff like that should be free in patches; DLCs should be like The Pitt or Point Lookout, proper addons, not tiny bundles of content that should be free in the first place.

Hell, I'm inclined to think that all DLC should be done Valve-style, but they're a rare breed.

No, there are several radio mods out there (meaning of course that I'm on PC). Your idea of expanding the voice acting is interesting, because none of the mods do that, but many of the mods stick more songs in between DJ commentary, suggesting that people want less rather than more VA.

Yeah.....for 80 Microsoft Points (which is $1.00).....no more than that. I might reconsider for 160 MS (which is $2.00)

But you got to think of the people that have PS3's and xbox's.

point to gamesas and the horse armor debacle. Also even quest's like the Razor, or fighters stronghold (that IIRC only really adds in the dragon swords as a new model.)

Anyway, yeah I'm on PC too, so I can put any music I want in there.

Yup, gamesas is guilty of it too, but I didn't mention them because they seemed to have learned their lesson; there wasn't any crap like that for FO3.

To play devil's advocate - there's a lot more game in the vanilla version than the $50 price tag would indicate. Considering that you pay the same for some games that you would finish in a weekend. If there are really going to be 8 dlc for NV, that makes it about a $130 game in total. I don't agree with the business model behind the dlc market, but in Bethesda's case, they seem to provide good content for the money. Gone are the days when we could get something like Shivering Isles I suppose, but its not like we're paying 2$ for a monster truck (JC2) or horse armour. I wouldn't pay for more music though. I was pretty annoyed that there were two radio stations and they both played the same music.

I'd definitely pay to get rid of Johnny Guitar.

But then again, there was never a man... like my Johnny.

Hey, it beats Let's Go Sunning in my book. :P

'Course, FO3 also had Civilization and Mighty, Mighty Man as default tracks. Big Iron and Blue Moon are the only ones that really stand up to those on NV's end.

I like the station as is. At least we have two now and there are a lot more songs than Fallout 3 and I like all the songs. I mostly listen to Mojave cause Mr. New Vegas gets a little repetitive.

FONV's got more songs overall by a bit (Enclave Radio, Agatha's Station and GNR together have close to the combined NV total) but each individual station has considerably less content than GNR did in FO3 (understandably, I suppose).

BLASPHEMY! :D

No really..."Let's Go Sunning" is great... :stare:

I always liked the irony of hearing that song while walking in the barren sun-bathed wasteland.

I like the song, but it just grated on my nerves for some reason more than any of the other ones did.

Of course, Civilization and Mighty Mighty Man made me happy enough when they came on that I didn't really mind it. :P

Id pay a buck or two to get something that would allow me to add in my own MP3 songs as a simple drag and drop. I am sure theres a mod like that out there but never tried looking. Dont even have the New Vegas nexus mod site bookmarked, atleast I heard they had one.

No, The radio fails on FONV not enough news and very few songs, FO3 did not have enough but at least I did not hear the same songs every 3 minutes,
more music and more dialog is some thing that should have come with the game from the start, but thats a thing I see all over FONV, the game is full
of uncompleted sections, quests and features.

Yes there is a mod or two on nexus that lets you add your own music and adds a bunch of music chosen by the mod dev, so far it has about 40 tracks.

I think that they should do a MIX of oblivion-style mini-DLCs (4 bucks here's a new house and a garden) and FO3-style 'mini-zone' DLCs.

I would probably pay for more radio if it was cheap and also came with something else too, not JUST a radio station (there are mods for that) but maybe a mini-quest to help the station get on the air or something. Think about the length and difficulty of the mini quests in the Oblivion DLC houses.
