Would you pay more for Skyrim if it had more features?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 10:30 pm

If they keep putting out content for the game then i will continue to keep buying the content they put out. Its that simple. I would still be buying content for Oblivion if they were putting it out.

Same here!

That's something...I hope we never reach.

Although in some way it's being in use actually (aka, DLC's and "Special preorder editions").

I would spend $100+ if Bethesda made it worth it. Hell, I'd spend as much as it takes if the features were worth the money!

What do you mean more features? More than it already has? I'm sure they're already trying to do that anyways. They will always try to up the quality of their games.

I honestly think if Bethesda upped their prices less people would buy their games. Yeah, maybe the loyal fans will buy the game that they were going to buy anyways, but it would just be a huge turn off to new comers or people who just think the series is OK.

I'd pay $20 for co op. and so would all of my buddies. Bethesda is sitting on a GOLD MINE if they just had co op. Honestly put my friends character in my world and make every monster 1.25-1.5 times stronger. Problem solved, you just made millions. They're great developers, but imo they are fools.

The way I see it Oblivion is the best RPG on the XBOX ,Two Worlds 2 is second but the gap between Two Worlds Two and Oblivion is massive. In other words I would pay 300$ for Oblivion, if the game comes from Beth i will buy the collectors edition, not cause I want the extra stuff but because I know Beth with pull in more profit. Ya thats right I'm a [censored] fan.

Edit: been drinkin

Ya know what? Back in 2006 I bought a 2000$ couch, 1800$ TV, 1200$ sound system 400$ XBOX all for a 60$ game, so [censored] ya I would pay plenty more for SKYRIM.

I was just thinking, people on these forums have long wishlists for more complexity, and things that would require more designers/voice actors/writers etc. The question is, would you pay (considerably) more than the norm for a new game if it meant more goodies in the final game?

Its called mods. And its free, too!

I'll be happy with what they give us, 8 months prior to release and it already sounds like it could be the RPG of the decade.
Im hoping the new engine will bring a lot of features that lacked in oblivion, not to mention that they have a bigger team than last time.
I would probably pay 20-40 quid more than the normal asking price if it had lots of voice actors, interesting NPC's, and this whole ''game collects information from the way you play'' thing works well.

Edit : Also, MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC. Oblivion's music still blow's me away and I hope they bring the same atmosphere with skyrim's music. And no sudden battle music.

It's not something they are experienced in, and I don't think they want to make multi-player games in general. A lot of work goes into doing code for multi-player games these days from what I understand.

Besides, with Fallout and Elder Scrolls under their belts I believe they've already tapped their goldmine.

I second that, although to get the best gaming PC you get including a 40 inch 1080p TV, would cost more than that. But still, a very good PC.

Would you pay more than 60 for a game if it were really two full games???

Seriously though, what kind of question is the OP asking? What do you mean by 'more' content? How do we measure what was the normal content and what is 'more'? I dunno, this is just a confusing concept for me to grasp.

Of course I would pay more for more content. Say that OB was twice as large as the actual game that shipped. Sure Id pay 120 for it. But if OB was twice as large as the actual game that shipped, then it would be the actual game that shipped, and therefore wouldnt be twice as large as anything. Does that make sense??? Not really. My point is how do I know that Im paying for more content rather than just paying twice as much for the same game?

I guess if say OB had 100 hours of play time, and Skyrim had 200 hours, that I wouldnt mind paying a little more for it. I'll say though, this would require giving a lot of trust to game developers. I too know the dissapointment of DLC packs that seemingly SHOULD have been in the original game, being sold at a fee. Sometimes if feels like they make a game 150 hours, then cut 50 hours and divide it into dlc's and sell them. Not saying thats what always happens, but thats what it feels like sometimes.

I still vote DLC.

snip

I'm in the same boat as you, I don't really understand it either.

The way I think about it is Elder Scrolls games already have more content than your average game and some RPG's. Thing is Elder Scrolls games are generally pretty buggy as well, and they have a much longer production time. So the way I see it is you still get what you pay for.

As phrased, just flat-out "no."

Now, if you can guarantee me more properly functioning features, that rises to a "possibly." Still a remote chance and not even worthy of "maybe."

Something tailored to me, that a small minority of players would like but easily 60% (or more) of the entire fanbase wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole but would riot in the streets over? Oh, hell yes!

So ultimately, no I probably would not pay any more for anything Bethesda would actually ever make.

No. Thats what DLC is for. It gives people who want more content the option of paying for it.

If the "more features" were more story, more dialogue, more choices, more consequences, more opportunities..... then absolutely yes.
If the "more features" were just more button-mashing and more eye candy, then absolutely no.

Nope, I have my hard limit that I'll pay for a game, which is probably why DLC is becoming so prominant. Same thing for shoes, well, minus the DLC ;)

Nah, considerably more? Not likely.

However what fans of a series says is irrelative as the more casual followers would be thrown off thereby making this superfluous =P

Edit: Oh and DLC's bugs me to no end. I want larger expansions damnit!

Compare the cost/gameplay time (100s of hours) and I think you'll see ES games are already worth more than some shooter that lasts one weekend.
