Would you play a Sims-like Elder Scroll game?

Post » Sun Apr 07, 2013 1:48 pm

Not The Sims exactly but an Elder Scrolls game that give you more personal options.

An Elder Scrolls game that doesn't star your character as some special hero.

The game wouldn't even have to be cannon.

The Elder Scrolls are all about role-playing, right?

Who says that they need to be all about combat?

You'd be able to start the game off Fallout 3 style as a child and play as your character as he grows older.

You can choose to grow up in the any one of the 8 towns of your choice.

Improved and fleshed out marriage system. Marry your childhood sweetheart and settle down, be a playa with the ladies, or cheat with the neighbor's wife, anything you want!

You could become anything you want.

A farmer, bard, blacksmith, shop owner, woodcutter, fisher, etc.

The game would of course include combat especially if you chose to become a mercenary, bandit, or a soldier.

All with a realistic in-game economy.

It would also include mini-games such as cards, competitive archery, or the ability to play an instrument. (Ocarina style)

I'd love that, provided it's a spin-off game like Redguard was.

The game could be a spin off.

It doesn't need to be cannon.

I could see this being a huge mod project, but not an official game. Not enough people would play it as the hardcoe role players don't make up a very large percentage of Elder Scrolls players. We already have Hearthfire anyway.

Could be quite neat. Heck, it could even be canon as long as it doesn't do all sorts of crazy things with the lore. If we're going to have an Action Adventure, and an MMO, then why not have a small life sim?

I wouldn't see it being a full sized game, though.

Yes, I believe that this idea is interesting. A spin on the Elder Scrolls like The Sims games would allow one to experience life as a more normal person, rather than almost entirely the hero, antihero, or villain as in the regular games.

"Lydia has the nicest armpits" it's probably why I think that.

Not an attractive option for me, I must admit. While the game offers a leading role as a hero character, the MQ is a small part of the game. 85% of my characters are not the Dragonborn.

hardcoe mods allows me to add realism mechanics in as much detail as I could imagine.

Elder scrolls games are about fulfilling prophecies not being a farmer.

I was about to argue your point, and how a small spin-off life sim set in the TES universe wouldn't be that bad, but then I realized the name of the series is The Elder Scrolls.

...

Curse you and your infallible logic.
