After playing Oblivion and loving and going back to Morrowind, I hated Morrowind when I tried to go back. Combat is different. It's not fluient. Almost everything in Morrowind is Static. No fast travel like in Oblivion. No compass to tell you where to go, (great thing, and you don't need it because everything is almost static, that is why you need a compass in Oblivion everything moves around too much and far and you would miss it worse than the puzzle box).
But I fell in love with Morrowind again. I love you have more weapon choices, armour choices, and levitation. You also have transportation spells as well. Spears, cross bows, throwing knives.
Just be AWARE that there will be an intial SHOCK and you will think The Elder Scrolls Morrowind is the greatest game in the history of the universe. and WTF they were thinking of coming from Oblivion. But if you are patient and understand Morrowind is a true Roll Playing Game. Even if you seem to hit, you don't do damage, because, you missed (yeah it svcked but you coudln't do much back then in programming) or you didn't do enough damage because you are not skilled enough, or your opponent dodged it, or has good armour skill or what not. You can fail casting magika spells, wich I hated in Oblivion that you are always successfull casting. No level scaling. You can meet a level 20 enemy at level 2. Yes graphics are outdated but it was top notch for it's time, just like how Oblivion was top notch for it's time.
So please have an open mind if you get it. It is hard, but once you get into it, it is so rewarding. Best game ever for me. Yes I died when I fought that mudcrab first time.
