Would you read a fallout book

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 11:07 pm

I am kind of young but i have started a fallout novel in NYC since a game wouldnt be able to cover the potential. I would just like to know if anyone would read a fallout book and if so are there any ideas. The story has a few similarities with Fallout 3. I also am using Alchestbreach and Paladin Voci so if you would like a sneak peek just tell me and i will email it to you.

no boks sux i liek 2 wach videos insted

I would enjoy a fallout book, if you write the story well, I would buy it. But of course, watch out for lawsuits by Bethesda, you might need their permission first.

Welcome to the Forums!

The Fallout Series is actually very different from Fallout 3, when does your novel take place? If its like F3 I recommend setting it only a few years after the Great War.

People would be interested in reading it. This should go in the fan fic section of the forum. Welcome to the forum.

Post the first couple of chapters and ask for feed back. If people like it then post the rest.

As to the thread title question: No, I wouldn't.
I don't like reading books.
I can accept text-based games but books are too boring for me.
I know it's about "letting my imagination do the work", but I simply find video or comics more intresting.

Like, One Piece in the manga can have pretty sad moments, but in the animé those moments are way more tearjerky.
So a book? It's the absulute bottom entertainment for me.
Actually seeing the character cry uncontrollably, be it in a comic, in a video or rendered in 3D has a much greater impact on my empathy.

But hey, go nuts in trying to make one, I won't read it though, but I'm sure others will enjoy it.
If Bethesda or Obsidian released one? Then I still wouldn't read it. I'd just read up on the new lore on the wikia and be done with it.

I would tell myself to check it out at a library, then never get to it.

Only reason i would read a book about an already established storyline is if it stayed faithful to the storyline, way to many companies give authors free reign to write novels and they use way to much literary license, and only see it from their perspective rather than studying the background story and folllowing it, and its a quick way to destroy an ongoing storyline, if you wish it to be your interpretation of the storyline then im not interested.

Comic book yeah, normal reading book no.
I don't have time to read normal books, nor do I like doing so.

Yep, I would buy and read a decent Fallout book straight up if I saw one on the shelf, I think I would prefer a well written book to a film adaption, TBH.

No, not this specifically, no one likes to read.

Even about a subject they'll probably like.

No, I wouldn't say so, it does make you/me think about the thoughts, ideologies and philosophy of the characters a lot more then a film does though, at least for me it does anyway.

@slowbutter - I enjoy reading, even about crap I'm not technically interested in; I find it a lot better to read about it then to listen to someone tell me about it.

Would you mind chronicling the events of Days of Our Lives since the Soap Opera began? Now that's something I wouldn't mind reading!

If bethesda would find out ur publishing a book about fallout then they would sue the [censored] out of you. They are good at winning lawsuits. just do like the people that did the book of Eli, dont call your book FALLOUT anything. Oh and could you do me a favour and make a independant vegas in it :D VEGAS BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE.

I rarely read books that are written based on a movie or a game, as they most often feel like cheap fanfic (with the writer really not getting the grasp of what he's writing about - which leads to watering down even a potentially good story on it's own).

Honestly, I only read novels if they are classics, like the Odyssey, Frankenstein, or 1984. Why? Because most of the time, reading books that have no meaning HAVE NO MEANING, as in no reason to read. Comics =/= Novels. Comics are much more of a fun thing. Sure, there's comics like the Watchmen, but even that is fun and isn't really a classic. I would be much more willing to read a Fallout comic series.

I would definitely be interested in reading a book based on one of my favorite series, as i have with the halo universe, i would quite gladly be willing to do for the fallout universe.
