I wonder if some of these people who say they wouldn't have ever been hungry, and I don't mean i haven't eaten yet today hungry or even i'm fasting for a week hungry. I mean starving for days on end because you have no choice hungry. It's not a situation where morals, or health concerns, or preferences are going to carry much weight to your decision making. It is closer to having to use the bathroom. If you were in a situation where you had to go to the bathroom and the was no option for privacy for some strange reason, you would hold it for as long as you could maybe even days but eventually you would let go of your social objections and just go. Starvation in a civilization with laws and morals would not usually result in cannibalism but if you were to take away the laws and civilization you would kill someone for food either to take it from them or lacking an alternative to eat them. If you could not bring yourself to do that you would most likely be a victim or you would go crazy so you could stay alive without conflicting with your morals. Ive never heard of a human being simply starving to death when food was knowingly available.
Why are you people trying to kill deer with your teeth? Ever heard of *spears*? <_< Hell, even a club is a damned effective weapon if used with conviction. (Assuming you could run the animal down in the first place)
Why bother when the wasteland is a sh*thole anyway its not worth eating someone to survive and spend more time there and risk getting clabbered or clawed by deathclaws. lol (if it was real life that is)
In game its fun fun fun. Thought I would try it if I was really starving, only if it was cooked on a fire. Screw eating it raw. Blood tastes disgusting.
I believe that's one of those things that everyone will say "no" but will do when the situation arises. Like "would you drink from a toilet if you're dying from thirst?" oh yes, you would.
Soooo... I'm gonna say no and wait for it

Toilet is a perfectly viable source of water. If you take water from the *tank*, not the bowl. Aside from collected mineral deposits, what's in the tank is the same as what comes out of your sink.
It should also pointed out that, no matter how nasty looking, no 300 year old dis-used toilet bowl is going to have any more bacteria living on it than your average rock.

Don't go smart on me, you know what I meant.
No. I just can't. I do think that if someone is capable of eating another human that they should do it if it comes down to survival but I could never even think about eating a human(oid). Let's put it into perspective, if I were to be in the Fallout world and I had to stab someone in order to survive then I'd have to go to the Wasteland Therapy Organization. Feeling in my hand how someone's flesh rips apart and his/her warm blood floods out over my hand as I see it in his/her eyes that the life draws out of them as they gurgle up blood and violently slams their arms and legs in panic... (Yay for graphic.) Horrible... Even stabbing someone would be too much for me to do if I were in the Fallout universe, how the hell would I ever be able to cut someone up into pieces and throw a barbeque?
Depends on my situation, but generally: eating a human is not healthy, only very limited parts can actually be eaten without almost killing yourself. So I would probably just stay alive in another way, or die away. :unsure2:
I would have thought human meat to be extremely healthy, considering they need the same nutrients to survive as you do. Humans are basically walking multi-vitamins
Ok, upon a cursory google investigation, it seems that the flipside is that since another human is susceptible to the same diseases, the meat is much more likely to be contaminated. That makes sense, I suppose. But is there a reason that human meat is inherently unhealthy? I still say it's better than dying though.
Would you resort to cannibalism to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland?
Wouldnt really be necessary as there would be enough preserved/canned/tinned food laying around within easy reach to last anyones lifetime.
Easy to be a tough guy in a game but in real life it might be a little more difficult for you to overcome one of our oldest and strongest taboos and take that sharp knife and lay into one of your recently fallen countrymen. First you have to madly fight down the urge to vomit as you start to skin the so familiar limb. Try hard not to look at the face. Could most of us even get past that part? Not to mention the boning, trimming, cleansing. Then the smell as it hits the hot pan? Pretty doubtful. Even if you get past all that the final test is yet to come as you lift the odorous flesh to your mouth. Not saying there arent hard core survive-at-all-cost personalities out there, but probly not too high a percentage.
TLDR (probly better if you didnt anyway) ancient taboos are hard to break, specially if there's multiple stages along the way to bail out
naw cause theres plenty of snacks and junk food that doesn't have much rads :whistling: Though if forced the option i would prob say no then get eaten by cannibals
It's a question not many people can truthfully answer until it may happen, I'm sure almost all of the people who got on the flight that inspired http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106246/ would have said no to cannibalism as well.
^^Probably be like that video - When Animals Attack! I would not want to tackle a 150pd deer and try to kill it with my bare teeth. LOL, probably just end up missing a couple teeth when it kicks the crap out of you! Without weapons, humans are lousy predators.
Just start punching it to death if it tries to kick dodge and kick it in the face BAM!!!! Done
Would you resort to cannibalism to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland?
As the last resort... Yes, I think I would. I wouldn't rather die than brake some moral codes in this regard. (But of course, I wouldn't know until I ended up in the situation in the first place, though.)
In desperate enough situation, all that matters, is survival.
To add to the topic, watch the movie "Alive", it depicts survival in extreme conditions.
My survival instinct might be willing, if I was desperate enough and there was a corpse around (I wouldn't kill another human just for food), but I'm not sure my eyes/emotions/stomach would be able to go through with it, if you know what I mean.
