Would you run 8/8 bots games for testing purposes?

If a server/client was released that only allowed to run bot games, for pre-release testing purposes, would you run it?

I'm not a server person, so if a benchmark of some sort were released, I actually would try to refrain from downloading it. I want the game to have the "new game" smell when I launch it for the first time, and that new game smell is ruined by demos and benchmarks.

Gotta say... I have no idea what you're talking about.

I vote yes.

I'd do bug testing, beta, whatever happened, and doing it by watching 8 vs. 8 bot matches of Brink would be a great way to learn some basic tricks before the game comes out.

I have a bandwidth cap though, so it would have to be a relatively small download, or it would need to come in the mail, or I'm not going to be a part of it.

Well, if this kind of thing is ever done (it's a bit late for Brink) it'd probably be done by some kind of steam-like system.

However, in the modern world of communications, they could easily give a disk even to console players, and then activate this kind of voluntary testing or the game itself, online. Games would have less bugs on release and everybody would be able to play the game from the very instant it was released.

I'd love to help anyway I could, though I would be a bit hesitant, as I really want that brand new game feel when I first play it for real.

I might do this after the game comes out just to see what the bots do.

Assuming it's possible to be spectator in an offline/private match, I'll definitely be doing this at some point.

I would do it also for learning positions of the bots.

I'd run it for both to see the game and to report bugs, Like, I'd run it only for the game, like your second poll option, but if I saw a bug, I'd report it immediately.
