Would you want to exist in Skyrim?

No. I don't want to live in a world with such primitive technology (in terms of medicine and computing).

I think you could find a way back to this existence... hell, Alduin might banish you back... or if you found a way on your own before you were to die (and it might be too late and you'd have been made legally dead in this world, leaving Skyrim your only hope for a non-celebrity life).

How about "The Soaked Goat" - I read that on here somewhere and I just love the name.

I'm sure Mammoth milk is nutritious.

"The Soaked Goat" sounds wonderful . But, has anyone ever read the Dark Tower Series by Stephen King?

Seriously? How would we develop it?

Have you ever wanted to live in a world of magic and wonder... where mythical creatures walk in the daylight, where magic exists in a tangible form, where you could decide your physiology, race, and potentially become anything you want in a time where legends are not born but are made?

This would not be playing the game... it would cease to become a game and be your new reality. If you could exchange one existence for another, where the Skyrim world would be as real as this world is to us, would you make the switch? Knowing that if you died in Skyrim it would be as sure a death as it would be for you now. Is the lure of the sword, of magic, of discovery... worth the price you would have to pay?

The OP is pretty clear about having the path of being magically gifted open to you if you took up Skyrim and abandoned this world.

Sign me up for the ride!

It can be dangerous, but i got enough ideas to get around that. No pollution, and you know where your food comes from... Damn, sounds better every minute!

Hmmm, we might even meet at the "The Flask and Flagon". I've got a lot of recipes, and i like cooking... :D

So far the majority would take up the opportunity if they had it. I guess others are too attached to this world or afraid of the dangers of Nirn. I would much prefer Nirn to Earth because our planet is a wreck and only getting worse.

No. I don't want to live in a world with such primitive technology (in terms of medicine and computing).

Magical healing nullifies medicinal technology (surpasses it even). But computers you would have to do without. Real magic and dragons... or computers.

Why not? Wanna live forever?

Better to die as a somebody than live as a nobody. Just prepare yourself for the dangers and start living.

I can see that the main argument for staying in this world rather than moving on to Nirn is the modern technology and modern medicine we have. But here's my reasoning behind moving to Nirn based on those arguments.

Modern Technology - I never liked modern technology anyway. I would always rather walk or ride somewhere rather than drive, given the choice. I've always thought it would be awesome to take a month long journey to get across the country rather than take a two day car ride. Computers and electronic technology are nice, but are nonetheless considered a want, not a need. I only watch TV and movies, and play video games because they are an enjoyable escape from this reality. If I never had cinematics and video games, my life would still be okay. I'd just have a better imagination and probably hang out with my friends and play sports a lot more than I do now. Microwaves, electric stoves, electric ovens, and refrigerators are all not needed as well. I can use a wood stove or an open fire. The only real loss I can think of is losing a refrigerator, and in Skyrim it's cold enough to store perishables outside.

Modern Medicine - This section is a breeze to explain. Modern medicine is nice, but restoration magic and magical potions would get the job done MUCH more effectively than it. I wouldn't even have second thoughts about getting rid of modern medicine. Don't forget that if we moved to Nirn, all of the diseases that we have here don't exist over there.

A lot of people would probably say "Oh, you wouldn't really want to move to a fantasy world like that. It would be so miserable and hard in reality. You're only saying that because you're sitting here inside nice and safe and cozy". But I honestly probably would move to Nirn given the option. It just seems like such a better existence all around. The life probably would be tough, but it's a good kind of tough. I would miss a lot of things about this world, but there are also a lot of great things to gain from another reality. The greatest of all: Magic.

Does anybody else see things the way I do?

But surely there will be something good in store for you. The more pain you endure the greater the reward.

If I was in Tamriel, I'd be a baker, and give sweetrolls to all the nice little children.

If you lose the ability to reload, your new life in Skyrim wouldn't last very long.

Besides, there are places on Earth that actually look like Skyrim. Granted, there is less magic, but the graphics are even better.

Otherwise I prefer our world

The entire spherical planet of Nirn would be open to you, even the parts that Bethesda never created.

i would go in a heart beat

i would only regret 2 things, no metal (but i could make that with magic and a lute :celebration: ) and i would regret leaveing my girl friend behind (i would probly find a way to drag her in with me, again with magic :teehee: ) i dont much care about my family, and my friends are annoying (lol)

i would love pretty much everything. i could be an argonian (im pretty sure my girl friend wouldnt love that though  ) and a powerful magical thief :chaos:

i would start off learning healing magic, then i would learn illusion, then i would steal everything in the nearest castle and sell it, then i would start my trip to black marsh  after that...i would unlock the secret of magical immortality (i would share the secret with you guys too, im just nice like that)

I don;t know, have they invented toilet paper yet. Sorry I don;t go places where they don't have toilet paper anymore. That stuff is worth more than gold. Best invention since the dawn of man.

I Picked no...ill be straight up ill start r?ping, murdering and doing some evil sinister sh?t if i was in Skyrim or Midevil times....ill get drunk all the time eat people, actually kidnap women and children, ruin lives and take advantage of peoples stupidity....i know i will be a evil person so no i wouldn't want to be in Skyrim for moral sake

I dont do this stuff now because i will get caught and go to jail with DNA n stuff, but I'm not complaining i prefer to be a civil person i play a neutral person in TES but i know i would go evil all the way in real life because of temptation n all.....im a very very sick person

p.s. :NO OFFENSE but how are some of you going to survive? i mean lets be honest 1/3 of us are out of shape and cant run 2 miles without losing breath and dying =?

I can respect people passing up the opportunity of a lifetime but if I was faced with a one-way portal to Skyrim... I'd step through it.

:obliviongate:

Same here, no way I would lose the oportunity to live in Skyrim. I would go through it without looking back.

World of Skyrim is frigging dangerous but I would definately have to try or else I would regret it for the rest of my life and wonder as an old man that what adventures could have awaited me in that realm. :sadvaultboy:

And I think the coldness is not that bad since I'm used to it.

I'm so far gone that I would in an instant take up a life in Skyrim.... Although, I would want to take a few family and friends... If they couldn't come, I don't think I would go. :/

People tend to forget just how simple our lives are. Given the conveniences of modern technology like regular baths with formulated soaps, I'm sure I would have a hard time living in a world like Skyrim. Where I do find appeal is in the sense of adventure; in a world like Skyrim, everything is new and exciting, and you never know what will happen next. Our lives have lost that in favor of those modern conveniences, so instead of having to explore the forest to hunt for dinner, I simply drive to the supermarket and purchase what I need--all perfectly planned out, and there is little reason to expect the unexpected.

I often wonder why the world is the way it is when it could easily have been something else. Did gravity have to work the way it does? Did the sky have to be blue? Must wind and rain always erode rock? When you think about just how arbitrary the laws of the universe are, you come to realize that they could have worked any other way. Deep and philosophical, I know. My apologies.

As it were, I would love to have the... option to live in Skyrim, knowing that I could snap my fingers and return to our world when a necromancer pops out of a tomb and summons undead around me.

With random dragon attacks, the whole continent in turmoil, angry Gods, and Armageddon? I'd be dead within 11 minutes.

A world w/o debt and bills- yeah, I'll take Skyrim any day. At least there you have to stress out over legit worries- bandits, dragons, mudcrabs.
