Would you want to exist in Skyrim?

Post » Mon Aug 22, 2011 3:47 am

Have you ever wanted to live in a world of magic and wonder... where mythical creatures walk in the daylight, where magic exists in a tangible form, where you could decide your physiology, race, and potentially become anything you want in a time where legends are not born but are made?

This would not be playing the game... it would cease to become a game and be your new reality. If you could exchange one existence for another, where the Skyrim world would be as real as this world is to us, would you make the switch? Knowing that if you died in Skyrim it would be as sure a death as it would be for you now. Is the lure of the sword, of magic, of discovery... worth the price you would have to pay?

No. That's what I've got Skyrim and an Xbox for. Knowing my luck I'd get killed by a mudcrab if it was real life.

No, I've got family, girlfriend and too many friends in this life, and you know that living in such a world wouldn't be as cool as the game, you wouldn't have so advanced medicine, communication, you couldn't play games, and when dragon would attack you would die with a slow painful death because there would be no health points, even infected rat would have to bite you once to kill you if you're not lucky.
But I could spend my holiday there but I wouldn't exit a city

I would definitely, without any hesitation, jump ship; given it's Tamriel and not just Skyrim.

Actually magic would negate modern medicine... you could learn to heal yourself of all ills short of death. That said the key to longevity is knowing when to fight and when to run to fight another day. No one said you'd have to be the Dovahkiin - remember you would have the choice upon entering of the life you want to start with.

Actually... its not just Tamriel... its the entire Elder Scrolls universe that would be open to you. Meaning if you sought the means you'd probably be able to enter Oblivion. Of course you might not want to if you choose to become a werewolf or a vampire... in Tamriel those are very real pathways you'd be able to take. Immortality. Perhaps even Lichdom if that is what you sought.

Tamriel's a fun place to read about and play games in, but I wouldn't want to live there. They don't call it "The Arena" for nothing.

I didn't think of that, you're right, it would be cool to heal myself with magic, but still surviving a fight with dragon would have 0.1% chance and I wouldn't leave my friends, family and girlfriend.

you can choose to become a vampire or werewolf but then there is a bigger problem, get bitten and don't get killed

So long as i'd still have access to the Creation Kit, sure. What I'd give for one to use on "real life".

My real world life svcks. I think my Tamriel life would probably svck too--such is the mortal condition here and there--but I think I'd enjoy myself in Tamriel far more than I enjoy myself here. I'd probably be likely to die way sooner in Tamriel, and I'm okay with that.

Imagine going through the city after beating everyone in arena, and you would hear a voice behind you "by azura, by azura..." :bolt:

Truth. But by choosing your physiology you could make yourself as handsome or as ugly as you liked... That beautiful barmaid is just average looking in Skyrim by my guess, imagine the girlfriend waiting for you there. And you could join a guild, they could be your new family.

With a world full of magic... and your knowledge of technology at some stage you would be able to utilise science and engineering with Skyrim resources like magic spells to entrap such a creature and safely make it bite you. Vampires and werewolves are quite vulnerable to the paralyze spell...

Without computer RPGs and internet porm? Hell no! :)

A real life RPG with as much adventure as you'd want - or as much lazing about playing with swords or magic... and something real rather than something 2D and solo. I don't see your logic.

I can respect people passing up the opportunity of a lifetime but if I was faced with a one-way portal to Skyrim... I'd step through it.

I would do anything to give up what I have in this life, go to a world where magic exists and become a powerful sorceror with the main aim of learning to fly! I think life would be so much cooler.
