What I would like to see if that there are stalls placed on the roads in the woods or near a village.
Er..."Hi, welcome to Gaston's Middle of Nowhere clothing store! That's right, we're in the middle of nowhere! Who doesn't need a nice suit in the middle of nowhere, eh?"
Not seeing the appeal...
But the stalls also can be robbed by thieves or be attacked by monsters. But if you can kill the thieves/monsters and bring back the stall owner his stuff back you will get a reward.
Yeah. See, this is
why there typically aren't stalls and shops along roads in forests in the middle of nowhere, because there aren't city guards in the middle of nowhere. Not even in High Fantasy settings- that's why they call them
"city" guards.
They generally aren't even set up "near" villages- because the city guards aren't near the village, they're
in the village. This is why "marketplaces" are generally also
in the village.
What would you like to see on the roads in the woods/near a village?
Bandits, other travelers, religious pilgrims, perhaps merchants
packed up in wagons moving to another town to set up their stall
in a marketplace guarded by city guards, more other travelers, the odd pickpocket maybe...but no random vendor stalls outside of
maybe a beggar alongside the road near the city gate- set up there because the guards ran them out of town.
