WoW related idea...

Post » Thu Oct 21, 2010 7:18 pm

It′s a bad idea that has no place in TES, so "Rise to the heavens"... ok I take it you mean to get teleported to the realm of an Aedra, or possibly even the realm of a Daedric prince, but whom ? Akatosh ? As the Dovahkiin ? So no, what then, Talos, Kynareth, Arkay... I don′t think Arkay would be very fond of that idea at all... and what if you are a daedric worshipper, a bad person ? What if you pray to Hircine, is he going to set up a hunt for you where the price at stake is your souls escape back to Nirn ? What if you don′t manage to escape then ? What about the other Daedric princes ? How to implement all this ?

And I don′t remember there being any cases of anything like this in TES anyway... so no thank you very much.

. Nope... Anything WoW related has to die [/size]

Some elements of its UI would be a godsend compared to Oblivion and Fallouts UI.

I don't really like that idea. I think it's best just to save often just in case... I have many times had to redo things over because of it, but the whole spirit thing, and then returning to your body just doesn't fit.

I'm going to assume you play on PC since you are requesting a WoW feature. But for anyone who plays on console what I always do is press wait then back really fast. It cancels the wait but still auto-saves. It's very handy since consoles don't have a quicksave feature.

For what you are suggesting I don't like it. I honestly didn't even like it when I played WoW. But I guess they have to let you re-spawn somehow. I don't see how they could fit it into the lore without it being stupid.

Maybe you go to Valhalla and have to go through a ritual, and if you fail, you go to save, and if you succeed you are resurrected?
I personally don't think this is a good idea, but the above is just another (less preferable) idea.

No. The devs could improve the autosaving features though - for example autosaving after combat could be an option you can choose. Otherwise only PC users with mods can get autosave features (and faster save loading times anyway).

Oblivion had a mod where you had to find your body when you died in a style akin to WoW's. It wasn't terribly good in my opinion, but it certainly had a following of people who liked it.

Never played Too Human, all the reviews said it was dire. What those reviews also said was that watching the 'Valkyrie comes down and takes you to Valhalla' death scene every time you died, actually managed the impossible, taking a game that couldn't be any worse, and making it worse.

I'm going on the record that I don't want this idea either, but what was annoying in Too Human was that you died because the gameplay mechanics were meh, not because you necessarily did anything wrong, and then watched this long animation you are describing. How bad Too Human was was a little overblown though IMO. People rated it as low as games that don't even function.

Anyway, people are forgetting that Bioshock had this system with the vita chambers. i didn't like it and I actually reloaded my saves instead of using the vita chambers. However if they at least reset the enemies' health or something it would have been more ok. Also, what about the old diablo way of corpse running?

the only thing I would like to see would be a tombstone at the location of death stating, {Characters Name} had his butt handed to him by {monster name}. with some sort of random remark to goad me. it would be a very nice reminder of how dumb I got at that point in the game.

I was thinkin' about how sometimes it was annoying in Oblivion, when you die you have to restart from the last save/autosave and then do everything you just did all over again. I'm sure some of you had the same problem. Anyway, wouldn't it be cool if when you die, you then watch your spirit rise up from your body up to the heavens? Then a loading screen would come and you'd be up in the clouds and go through some short process of some kind to have your physical body healed and restored. And then able to play right from where you died.

I don't know people, just a thought. Don't judge me.

No it would not. Save more often, that is your fix.

Besides, what has been mentioned, in TES universe, generally, when you die, YOU DIE.

This idea works great for WoW, but not TES. Keep it the way it is IMO.

Sorry but Fable was complete garbage and if you don't like to lose a lot of progress when you die then save more often.

Respawning works in WoW because there are no savegames and people has to keep playing somehow. In a singleplayer game, if dead isnt dead then what is?

Bioshock?

nah it will eliminate the "fear" or "caution" factor, since we are immortal why worry.

it works great in wow, because the world is static some what, but in skyrim it will make trying not to die absolute

i liked borderlands save system............your choices mattered for better and for worse. that being said with huge use of mods i dont see any other viable save method than the tried and true hard save.

I dont understand this statement. Really annoying that you had to go back to your last save? Thats was the best part about Oblivion over other games, is you can create a hard save whenever you want. The game also creates convenient auto saves at certain times. I dont see the problem with this system compared to other games. If anything, games with checkpoint save systems should adapt a system like TES.
