WoW related idea...

I was thinkin' about how sometimes it was annoying in Oblivion, when you die you have to restart from the last save/autosave and then do everything you just did all over again. I'm sure some of you had the same problem. Anyway, wouldn't it be cool if when you die, you then watch your spirit rise up from your body up to the heavens? Then a loading screen would come and you'd be up in the clouds and go through some short process of some kind to have your physical body healed and restored. And then able to play right from where you died.

I don't know people, just a thought. Don't judge me.

From my understanding, the reason why you have to load a save isn't because they didn't put a revive system in, its because the Elderscrolls say you will do something.
So when you die, you broke that chain of "reality". But you are apart of a greater scheme, and in that scheme you don't die, you live.
The reload system forces you to play an entire playthrough without dying, just as the Elderscrolls say.

Im not expressing myself very well, but thats how I see it. The story says you don't die, and because you "broke" the story, by dying, you are forced to reload to another part of the story where you were still alive. So if you go to a dungeon, autosaving at the entrance, and continue only to be mauled by high leveled necromancers and die. You load that autosave, and in this "reality" you decide to leave because you are wary of the danger. That second reality, where you leave, is the way the story is meant to be told.

Maybe in an easy game mode... this would be a good idea, but keep this out of my hardcoe mode!

...there is no hardcoe mode...that we know of.

Anyway, bad idea. Just save more. Besides, that idea ismt very lore-friendly AT all.

TES gaming rule number 1: Save
rule 2: ...and save often

The very first thing I do when the game starts and lets me....you guessed... I save.

Didn't they do this in Prey?

In Prey you died, floated up into the spirit world, and had to shoot red & blue ghosts to regain some of your health and essence before falling back to Earth and resuming your adventures. It worked well enough... Though I'd prefer the way it is. I would rather pick up the game from the last established save.

So, if you respawn where you died, doesn't that mean you'd be surrounded by the same enemies that kicked your ass the first time. Reminds me of Diablo where you die and have to go back and get your corpse. Super annoying cause your corpse was always in the middle of whatever swarm killed you to begin with. Bad idea

Worse when you died next to the stairs (trying to escape); as you'd often die immediately upon re-entry to the area.
