wow robotics expert is beyond worthless.

I used 5 levels to get the int and get this skill to rank 3, and it is by far my worst investment of points. Doesn't work on synths, not even gen 1s, really? Doesn't work on enemies that are in caution status.

Pretty much only usable on bots who are already on your side, and most of the time that will be protectrons that are going to fight for you anyways.

WTF seriously.

At rank 3, this needs much longer range, needs to be an option in every situation except the bot actively attacking you, and should work on at least synth gen 1s.

I know even if those changes happen I likely won't be playing this character by then. Want my points back. (on console so it's not happening through console commands).

I am only posting here because googling only revealed numerous people asking and no one for sure confirming whether it works on synths.

No Wasteland whisperer works on Synths because they do not have an exterior off switch, self destruct button, or a place to hack them like regular robots have

The off switch fore Synths is the over ride command which is different for each one so they are unhackable unless you know that specific command for that Synth to keep random people from hacking them

i gotta admit for a max 10 SPECIAL perk at rank 3, that's pretty terrible, I would expect this perk to be pretty OP

i'm sure mods will help with this, but that's pretty bad

I use stealth to sneak behind a robot (sometimes I use stealth boy) and then hack it. It's an awesome feeling to so elegantly defeat a legendary assautron or sentry robot. Only using level 1 perk for now but I'm already having so much fun. If I need xp I maul the robot to its demise, otherwise I trigger a self-destruct. No robot is safe from my hackiness! I shall clense the wasteland of those robots, or dominate them all! :brokencomputer:

You need to sneak to hack an aggressive enemy robot.

In FO3 the Chinese Stealth Armor and the same perk for disabling robots was awesome. I never had to fight a robot again, if I didn't want to.

In FO4 I have sneak maxed and some chameleon armor parts, and still can't sneak up undetected behind a sentry bot. I have avoided taking those perks in the FO4 because I am not able to sneak up on them, so I assumed I would not be able to use the perk effectively. Glad to hear that is the case.

Even Stealthboy in FO4 doesn't seem very good to me. I used one to sneak up behind a Gunner in PA to steal his core, and he went to caution every single time, and danger about 30% of the time.

Sneaking up to robots if much easier at night (especially in shadows), high agility helps a lot, and of course sneaking from behind should be done at all times.

I have never used a stealth boy ever even in Fallout 3 where I likely logged in over 1,000 hours since I 1st started playing when it was released.

It is dumb...

Simple solution (be able to hack a robot by running up to it even in combat) hack during combat takes 3 seconds instead of being instant.

Secondly allow creation of bots for your settlement (add to defense rating and count as part of settlement count)

Yeah, it was a huge let down for me also. I was so gung-ho to take on the wasteland being a robotic hacker only to find out its more of a "luxury" perk rather than being really useful. I say luxury because it doesn't really accomplish anything except for appearing to be cool or nifty, but usually no help during most times.

I mean, why would you even want the ability to "incite" a robot? Its gonna attack everyone including you (at least it always does for me)

I have mutual feelings with the total hack magazines you find. They don't really provide any type of usefull function unless you decide you want to rain hell down on your own settlements..........which makes no sense?

And does anyone else have the problem of a hacked robot attacking you after you initiate a self destruct?

I just wanted to craft robots, or have companions robots that I could repair or upgrade and have them follow me so that I could be a weak scientist daydreaming about impossible theories through the wasteland while my personal set of robots do all the job for me, I could modify a robot for sneak situations, others that require aiming, and nuking [censored], or capturing enemies alive, or giving me visual spy feedback while I am at a safe zone, etc. I know you can already do something similar with robotics expert and have sentry bots and assaultrons as companions but it's not the same if you don't actually feel you worked on them.

Sure would be nice if the companion hacked bots could return to your settlements without engaging everyone. Always happens to me when I forget to self destruct one when im done. Forgot to shut down an eyebot once and it found its way back to a settlement somehow. people there killed it and found some reason treated me as a hostile for quite some time.

But agreed. Should be able to salvage together different bots just like you do with yourself regarding armor, weapons, etc

Just promise me you won't hurt KL-E-0 in Goodneighbor. My PC doesn't have a bot fetish the way that NPC school teacher in Diamond City does. But he has to admit from her seductive way of speaking when he's trading with her, that there are times when KL-E-0 makes him get all touchy feely and  and

:bonk: Ok. /end of weird PC bot fetishes for now>

heh animal friend is more useless. I had maxed out and I would fail more than succeed. I don't want to command animals just want them to leave me alone or come help me when I am fighting.

Sentry bots and assaultrons are vulnerable when they get locked into their animations, but it's almost always easier to just kill them.

I've used this perk for fun. It definitely works on vendors and peaceful protectrons...not sure about aggo'ed robots. I hacked KLEO and used her as a companion. She will fast travel to different locations with you and fight for you.

I finally maxed it at level 90+ because at this point I'm just looking to add fun stuff to my gameplay... and I was pretty pissed at how weak it is.

One of the few perks I really resent having wasted the points on.
