Wow some excellent new design choices in the mag...

Post » Mon Aug 16, 2010 5:47 pm

Really? I hate some of the new choices. in fact I didnt really hear one good thing in that article, just stuff to worry me.

I'm sorry, but that post has made me think of you of a bridge-troll for the rest of my forum-life. You can't tell me that you aren't even in the least bit excited about playing the game, trying out the new skills, fighting dragons and experiencing the Main Quest, can you?

I'm really excited for these new skills, and will make roleplaying much, much more satisfying. And with the randomly generated quests, it'll be RP heaven.

Not really, I'm a role player. few of my builds are even worthy of going through the main quests in these games. i can use my imagination and be satisfied for hours. Could care less about bullet time and such, or what people of these forums think of me.

So, as a roleplayer, finding out that there are far, far more roleplaying concepts possible in Skyrim than Oblivion or Morrowind (without mods) does nothing for you? it just worries you?

Mmm indeed.

@ Xarnac
The inclusion of real time conversations, extra side crap you can do, and giving you complete freedom in how you develop your character skill wise couldn't possibly help a roleplayer RP harder. Except that it does, much more than anything in Oblivion or Morrowind. I had resisted the urge to call you a troll for the longest time but now that someone else has said it I can't hold back anymore.

Could care less about that stuff if the game isn't as in depth as its predecessors. If we get less than we did in Oblivion and or Morrowind, Skyrim will be a failure to me.

Yep for real. The actual wording says that there is more to do in towns, including forging weapons at a forge, woodcutting, cooking food, mining and farming which you can do when taking a break from adventuring. Doesn't say the importance of these jobs or how much they benefit the character by doing them.

I read the article but didn't see any mention of this?

LoL, Now I'm a troll? Classic. Could care less about the conversation system, whether it freezes or not. The "side crap" I could easily role-play in any game. I just don't want it dumbed down. i hope I'm wrong, but I'm no troll.

The no HUD thing really caught my eye. It's going to be interesting seeing how they implement that. But that's really going to provide a lot of great immersion if done well.

maybe the "no hud" has to do with hardcoe mode like in new vegas?

hardcoe = no hud?
regular = hud?

I think it′s better than just the enemy running towards you and attacking, more realistic. He might first want to know who you are and what you are doing there

what about something like in fallout? ya know "Hidden, caution, DANGER" something like that...

You would probably need very high speechcraft to talk your way out of most situations. And I doubt a bear will run up to you and sniff you, and you get the option to 1) sniff it back 2) pet it etc.....
Haha, I'm at work right now and reading that made me laugh. Thanks, I needed it. Sniff it back, lol great I can picture the PC getting on all fours and sniffing the bear's butt

I'm with xarnac on this one there are more things that concern me in the article than make me feel optimistic. The radiant story sounds like it could be great but then they drop another skill Mysticism. Also seemingly there are no attributes and now there are perks...not going to judge yet just gonna wait until I play it I guess but to me it is not looking good. Please don't flame me or xarnac for simply sharing what may concern us, you do know not everybody wants the same game you do right?

I'm not expecting as much depth as Morrowind, but I am expecting this to be better than Oblivion. Honestly, there's no way it won't be better than Oblivion. That's just too easy to achieve.

I'm annoyed they bothered with things like mining and wood cutting. Honestly, people really care about that [censored]?
Yeah, Morrowind is my heart and joy, then Daggefall, then Oblivion, then Arena, etc...
But that made me laugh when you said "that's just too easy to achieve", implying TESIV was that awful. lol
I haven't read the magazine, although I did go to the gameinformer website just now, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high for TESV.

get ready to be dissapointed more often because game are becoming more mainstream ( with what MOST people like) and you know what being all technical and pouting about what I might or might not like about this game I can guarantee you I will be buying it because it's going to be fun either way and maybe you won't be able to sit on your fat ass and have 500 hours of game play..

Unless it said no HUD, there probably will be, cause I mean they did the same thing in Oblivion Screenshots and look how that turned out. And about jobs, like forging, wood cutting etc...

I think that is a great idea... In Oblivion, I got tired of slaughtering creatures, selling loot and buying bigger loot. To be able to actually do something that doesn't involve killing and looting, is great.

REALLY? have you ever played any other game OTHER then morrowind and elder scrolls games? people like to craft [censored] collect [censored] and actually do other [censored] then questing all the time. embrace change

Some people can't be pleased.

My thoughts exactly. Its just some people can never let go of the past so they convince them self nothing will ever be good enough if it isnt exactly the same.

Its a sickness

Ya I'm very intrigued at how this no hud thing will work, the way I see it is if there is any change in health/magicka or w/e it automatically shows on screen therefor when just exploring and everything is full you see full no hud screen.

and I agree I can't wait to be able to gather stuff, make things. and even farming? that's awesome!
