I wouldn't get too excited about that. NPCs in Oblivions and the recent
Fallouts could do various things, like read, eat, drink, practice, mix up potions, and whatnot. Those are just an extension of that, and are just as likely to be as robotic as ever. Now, if Bethesda improved their animations and reduced the amount of "standing around staring blankly" that plagued those games, we'll be on to something.
But.. how does no-hud work?
How will I know when Im low on magicka or health?
Normally, the idea would be to use some creative audio and visual cues to let the player know. Displaying more injuries on the character, animating him so that he moves with a limp (at a reduced speed), blurring the screen, having a heartbeat sound effect in the background, that kind of stuff. If done well, it can be pretty cool.
