Writing review for school paper, what should I cover?

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:22 am

Title pretty much says it all. I'm writing a review of Skyrim (a little late, I know...but hey, it's Skyrim!) for my school newspaper. I want to avoid rambling on for pages and pages, something that'd be much too easy with this game.

For a relatively short, concise review, what aspects of the game do you all think I should hit?

Much appreciated.

The random dragon attacks.
The new way that you gain levels and experience.
The random dialogue you overhear from people you walk by.

Those are the main points I talk about when trying to tell people about the game.

@Zeheve Remind me never to ask you about a game if all you talk about is little stupid things.

Gameplay mechanics
Quests
Atmosphere...those sort of things...

Do your own homework.

Nah, just kiddin'. I think the best way to approach reviewing a game like this is to describe the general journey your character went through which will be a nice way to transition to talking about the different features in the game. "Heading to a settlement called Riften, I was attacked by a bear, the combat is yadda, yadda, yadda."

If I was you, touch on the sandbox open world for sure, the many groups you can join and the options within them, the none scripted dragon fights, i don't know how to phrase this exactly: but how if I character dies it can effect your entire play through whether it's quests/advantages, etc... (this may tie into the sandbox open world concept) and of course the depth of the roleplaying/character creation. This sounds like a lot but it doesn't need to be long paragraphs. Hope this helps, GL.

Do not compare it to previous TES games because no one will understand and if they do they will already have known about Skyrim.
