Idea for a $5 settlement DLC/mod maybe.
Bomb collars keep prisoners from doing anything stupid and Paradise Falls and Father Elijah made effective use of them to keep slaves in line.
Would it be bad karma to enslave raiders and put them to work?

Imprison them, yes, i am all for that.
Slavery, no, not that i care, but there are too many SJWs in the world today.
Plus, i know slavery is wrong, adding it to a game wouldn't change my opinion on that.
I guess i wouldn't really care either way.
No, no, no, you don't enslave the raiders, you "Tame" them
Slavery is so, pre-war. I call it involuntary labor.
Nah.
They'd all die and get eaten by supermutants outside of their wall. Inside the wall they are safe, and protected from the harsh reality of no minimum wage jobs!
In the real world, yes, slavery is wrong and illegal. In the context of this, no. One DLC is about capturing animal and raiders and forcing them to be gladiators. That is something that would be really messed up if done irl, but in Fallout, perfectly exceptable.
Murder cannot be justified... KILLING can be justified though.
Whenever I kill a Raider, it's killing. Not murder.

As for slavery? I consider it as a wrong doing honestly when you enslave an human being. However, I don't count Raiders as human beings. To me, Raiders are wild evil creatures so I don't give a flying muffin about them.
Really, you have never looked through your sniper rifle, seen a raider and just picked him/her off at a distance? When they were just minding their own business, probably talking shop, or sleeping? Where you could just as easily have avoided that fight altogether?
Have you seen what they decorate their camps with?
How convenient. Early Americans most likely said the same thing about Africans. "Slavery is definitely wrong! But these guys aren't really human."
And what about the raiders who express distaste for their work? If you've ever stealthed through a raider hideout, surely you've these guys talk. "One more hit, then I'm done." "Why do they have to beg? I hate it when they beg. It's nothing personal, just you or me." - That one suggests the guy is just doing what he feels he needs to in order to survive. Yeah, it's despicable, but he has no joy in it. He ain't a psychopath. There are other quotes that very clearly humanize raiders but I can't remember them.
They are not people, they are non-sentient AI in a computer game.
No, but do you have bags of fresh gore hanging either side of your doorway?
My settlers are pretty much slaves anyway... instead of cotton... it's all about purified water though. LOL
0.0 But we're discussing the morality within that computer game, no? Maybe I misunderstood the discussion.
I consider Raiders as evil creatures, not human beings. So yes, killing them is just killing. Not murdering.
We are talking about Raiders... Strange creatures born from the body of human beings who likes to torture, [censored], kill, etc every single living thing. Even each other at times. They aren't human beings with feelings and soul. They use to be human beings but not anymore.
Anybody with half a brain knows that slavery is wrong in real life, if you want be a vicious slaver bastard in a game, then as long as you are not like that in real life, i see no problem in it.
Guess you overlook the various computer terminals in those raider camps? Where one leader is concerned over the fate of her sister, who was kidnapped by another gang? And was trying to bargain with them to get her back?
Except for the ones that do express feelings. Like I talked about above. Plus other examples like what Mackiel mentioned.
Right, I don't disagree that I, in real life, playing a slaver in a game is not necessarily bad. I'm talking about whether the slaver character is in itself bad, within the universe being discussed.
Ah, well, in that case, yes, slavers are bad.
But what if some slavers are just like those raiders you mentioned?
the plot thickens
