Wrongfully Banned

Post » Thu Apr 11, 2013 1:24 am

So, essentially my Origin account was compromised and the d-bag that did so advertised a website to download hacks.

I had no idea whatsoever that anything had happened until I received an email from EA saying that my multiplayer access had been removed permanently. I haven't touched the game (or origin for that matter) aside from a day or two after release. I've had too much going on IRL to really get into the game. I got absolutely no warning, just a random perma ban.

Anyway, I email Origin's support appealing the ban describing in detail what happened, and if they checked IPs and whatnot, they would clearly see it wasn't my normal IP address logging in. They apparently "fully investigated" and told me the ban wasn't in error.

So what I gather from this email is that one of the following is happening:

1. If you so happen to have your Origin account compromised, you're simply out of luck. Apparently they don't care and will never lift your ban, regardless if you had no part in it.

2. Whoever they have investigating these reports aren't actually doing so.

I've contacted phone support twice now, and sent another email which has gone completely unanswered. The only thing I got from the people on the phone was "just email them again, I can see exactly what you're referring to and agree it was in error, I just can't change it for you".

/sigh

Does anyone know who to contact? Am I **** out of luck? This is really pissing me off.

After reading I would say you may have gotten a bad copy of the game to start with? Did you buy it direct from EA/Origin or do you have a physical disc?

The reason I stated that is because they didn't give an exact "reason" but a general blanket statement.

"Promote, encourage or take part in any activity involving hacking, cracking, phishing, taking advantage of exploits or cheats and/or distribution of counterfeit software and/or virtual currency/items."

I had this happen to me on a game I bought where the Origin code was given to me. I didn't get the physical copy, only the key. I guess later someone bought the physical and complained to EA and they frooze my account & then him . Both of us were out of luck.

If you feel strong enough about it you can take them to small claims court (if your in the states). Do it on a local level where you live, they probably won't send anyone to appear. At least you can get some cash back and have a good story to post. If you sue you can at least subpeona for their records to see why exactly they banned you.
