Wrye Bash #30

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:28 am

But doesn't that require me to have three .exe's in the Oblivion directory, rather than the one TES4Edit.exe? Or will it work fine with the one?

Yes, I think Elminster can answer your question better.

Even in the TESCS wiki are the parameters listed, but they won't work.

The parameters work fine from the command line, and if you just rename the .exe with them added. So that's what lead me to assume that it's a problem with WB. Thanks though.

1. Wrye Bash requires wxPython 2.8.7.1 to work properly. The last time I checked though, wxPython 2.8.7.1 doesn't support any version of Python above v2.5.2. Has this situation changed without my knowledge?

Not exactly, no. The installer for wxPython I used in my case is named wxPython2.8-win32-ansi-2.8.10.1-py26.exe and it works just fine.

I'm a complete Wrye Bash noob, so it wouldn't suprise me to find out this info is in the read me text and on the help pages and I just missed it. If so and link instead of wasteing your time explaining it again would be appreaciated :)

It was just eaisier to take a picture of what I'm asking about, sorry about it being photobucket.

http://s628.photobucket.com/albums/uu1/Spites_Pics/?action=view¤t=Lost.jpg

Pic on left side: From what I see here, it's saying that OOO cant find Oblivion.esm?
Pic on the right side: If I read correctly, a red icon means missing data? I hope I misunderstood that, OOO takes forever for me to download.

Oh yeah, I know this isn't a Wrye Bash problem. I'm only asking here because I'm trying to learn how to read Wrye Bash, and I figured this would be the best place to learn.

Their showing up red because those OOO pugins are loading before Obscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp, which you can see they depend on in the masters list on the right.

Thanks! I feel like an idiot. Took all of 20 seconds to fix that after I read your post.

Maybe someone can add in the ability for Wrye Bash to recognize following directory: OBSE/Plugins. Currently, selecting "has extra directories" when that directory is in your archive skips the directory.

That's already been discussed to death and it's not happening. Too much of a potential security risk. If you're working with .dll files, you should be installing them manually, so you know exactly what is going on.

That is by design (for security and to make sure you have the latest plugins). It was also discussed at the end of the last thread. One of the ideas wrye suggested is to place your obse plugins in a zip file, right click in wrye bash, open archive and extract the plugins that way.

Any chance of having the option to knockout that 'Modified dates have been reset for some mod files:' box?

Wouldn't be hard to do, but I avoided doing it because I feel that it's much better that the user have a warning that dates have been updated. And you can quickly hit return to make it go away, hence it really shouldn't be an issue. I.e. it's a mild annoyance, but one that provides an important warning, and hence should be left in place.

No, my point is that they no longer do - I used to get the functionality before, but when I click on TES4View, I can edit files, and the same for TES4Trans. It's not like it was before, when it just launched TES4View with the -edit and -trans parameters (or whatever they were). Something's not working for me anymore.

Originally the exe was named Tes4View.exe. To get alternate modes you could copy/paste the exe under different names (Tes4Edit.exe and Tes4Trans.exe, I think), OR you could use the -edit or -translate command line switches. When Elminster renamed the exe, he kept that code, but it continues to ONLY work if the name of the exe is Tes4View.exe. Hence updating the default name to Tes4Edit.exe just causes it to always open in edit mode. Options:
1) Get Elminster to support alternate modes.
2) Just discard View and Translate icons/modes (which aren't really necessary) and only support Tes4Edit. This is probably the way to go.

Gday I seem to be having a Python issue of late, And I am needing some help Please

When Launching Oblivion using the Oblivion+OBSE Tab in Wrye Bash ,I get a brief flash in the background of Pyhton encountered a problem and must close. (Note I have the Bash auto quit enabled) It only gives that crash message box maybe %70 of the time when launching through Wrye bash.

I have looked for the Bug dump (Bash.log) but no such file found in the Mopy directory. I then used the cmd chdir C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Mopy Then cmd c:\python25\python.exe bash.py -d, But no bash log is created.

Now This maybe relevant or of some help, I did a while ago Uninstall oblivion and Python using a program called Smarty Unistaller.

I then re installed Oblivion GOTY and a Manual install of most of the Python components and Wyre bash.
Is it possible I have I have a leftover component from the initial Python install conflicting with the new install ?

Should I just uninstall Python and reinstall it?

If you recommend to uninstall python, I would like to find all the registry left after a uninstall and delete them, so I can reinstall fresh. Would anyone know of the entries to look for ?

Cheers for any advice you can give me please

Sorry for the re post

My opinion. This message helped me a lot when I accidentally turned lock times on.

Is it possible to drop BALO? It's not really needed anymore because BOSS is the way to go.

no reason to drop it... you can disable it.
to disable just uncheck the checkmark before 'full BALO' in the menu when you right click the file header menu in the mods tab.

yes, it's always deactivated, but I haven't seen a single user who is using BALO anymore.

yes but is that a reason to remove a workable but older system... which only takes up a couple kb... just seems like an unnecessary change.

Yes that's right. You just nee to have the mods sorting by LO to do so. Or you can hand edit the times.

On the Installers tab, right click on Order and uncheck Sort by Active. Now you can highlight a package (or a select a bunch of mods) and use CTRL + Up/Down arrows to change the install order. You can click on the Order tab until it's lists them in the order you want:
(0-100), files on bottom overwrite any files before it, or
(100-0), files on top overwrite any files below them.
If you are using something like a custom world map replacer, which some mods include their own versions, you can move your custom world map after ==Last== and it will always install last, etc. I also move my debug tools here like Refscope & Formid Finder.

Exactly. Never drop a feature without a very good reason to do so (like it breaks stuff or really should *not* be used.)

Besides, I use it.

'Update NPC Levels' only updates the level, not the stats derived from it when Auto calc is set?

If a mod has the bash tag {{no merge}} then even if it shows up as green (can be merged) it will not be merged during the Rebuild Bash patch stage and still needs to be checked (activated) in the mod list correct?

Thanks,
