Wrye Bash Tagging Not Working?

Post » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:27 am

Hello,

I would like to use Corean Hair and Elaborate Eyes (which also has Rens hair).

I'm trying to tag these two and then trying to merge them in the Bashed Patch so that I can use them together properly. The Elaborate Eyes are coming out see-through so I'm hoping what I'm trying to do will fix it.

In these mods in WB I put this into the Description:

* for Corean:
{{Bash:Hair}}

* for Elaborate Eyes:
{{Bash:Eyes,Hair}}

I tried to mark them mergeable as well - Corean seemed to take, but I got an error message for Elaborate Eyes.

My problem/question is: The tags I inserted into Description did not display in the Tags box below. I don't know why, because I tried it before and it took. Does anyone know why a tag I put in the description wouldn't show in the Tags box below? Thanks.

You can add tags by right-clicking in the tags box and checking them off in the pop-up menu. Could you post your load order (with Bash so that I can see what is activated, merged, etc.)? I'm slightly confused.

OK that worked (right clicking) - I could have sworn I inserted the tagging info into the description before and it went into the Tags box automatically. :P :D I've been playing with this stuff for days trying to learn it and probably thought I did it that way but actually did not.

OK My next question is, both mods tagged properly. Corean hair and Elaborate Eyes. Eyes are still showing up invisible and the one thing that's bothering me as well - Elaborate Eyes (with Ren's hair) is bumping out Corean hair so the Corean hair selections never show up (the Ren's hairs do). Why is this happening? I'm assuming I'm missing a step and that it's because of the load order (Elaborate+Rens loads after Corean) but I thought by tagging them that they'd work together. I also use TNR Races.

I'm far from an expert with bash patching. Have you tried dropping the bash tag for hair on Ren;s? IF you only want Corean hair, than I would drop Ren's.

Another suggestion...

The order your mods are in when you create your bashed patch will stay in that same order within your created bashed patch. So, since you have Ren's loading after Corean in the bottom of your load order, you might want to try switching the two in your load order before creating your bashed patch.

There is also a stand alone version of Elaborate Eyes. Not sure if you are willing to drop Rens's though.

1. what version of Bash are you running? (if 278/278b download 279 -- significant temporary tag errors for 278/278b)

Also for Bash to copy the description tags to the real tag list (the one that shows below) it takes a couple things:
1. you have to click save to save the chagnes to the description (usually all you have to do)
2. you have to have the taglist set to automatic (by right clicking the taglist and making sure there is a check by automatic) -- which brings to me to mention that it is easier generally to just right click there and select the tags you want... and if desired copy to the esp header.
EDIT: achem... should have refreshed topic before posting it would appear...thats what I get for multitasking I guess...
Also IIRC EE is incompatible with most other eye mods - but could be wrong.

Actually I don't have plans to use Ren's this time around so using plain Elaborate Eyes would be fine - except I can't find the one that's not hooked into Ren's - I tried this before I posted and failed. :D I didn't think of taking out the hair tag - I did that and loaded Corean after.

So now I can get Corean hair but now have black eyes instead of invisble. I'm able to load another eye mod fine. I think something is up with the Elaborate Eyes+Rens that I have.

And above "2. you have to have the taglist set to automatic (by right clicking the taglist and making sure there is a check by automatic)" -- that just seemed to toggle - I set automatic, and the hair tag came off. Set the hair tag and auto turned off.

So I have two requests:
* Can someone point me to the plain ol' Elaborate Eyes mod (no ren's included)
* Can someone explain the process to me how to run two different hair mods (for example) together without having one get bumped out? I'm using WB to tag them, save then rebuild bash patch but it's not working and obviously I'm not doing enough of something.

That one's with Ren's too. It's the same that I'm having problems with, even though I've removed Ren's from the omod list.

OK the ONLY elaborate eyes mod I've been able to get working (in the past) was the combined one with Beautiful People. But I have TNR running. Maybe I can combine those two in Wrye somehow so that I won't have conflicts? Does anyone have a clear idea how I can do this? Thanks.

I thought that EE I linked to was standalone but came with an optional .esp for use with Ren's... Did you download it and look at the folder contents?

No. I'm just not able to get that version to work. But it does work with Beautiful People loaded (EE is part of BP). I just want Corean Hair and Elaborate Eyes (btw the Corean Hair+Elaborate Eyes together download doesn't work for me either) but don't mind if I get Ren's stuff or other eyes with it. Can I make Beautiful People and Corean work together? If I load Corean last I only get Corean hairs. If i load BP last I get BP hairs (i.e. Ren's, etc. and the Elaborate Eyes). How can I make these two mods work together?

I've been digging for hours on how to make this work but I can't seem to find specific directions.

Wow thanks for that - I'm copying that thread for safekeeping.

It doesn't answer my questions, though. First folks say that these hair and eye mods won't work together. Then they say to use an already made hair+eye combination that you want (didn't work for me with the Corean+Elaborate Eyes combo out there). Then someone says "yes this does work if you use Wrye and tag/bash them". Then someone else says no, they work if you merge with TES4. It's so many contradictions about these that I don't know what's right.

So your thread post made me realize that instead of mucking around with it, I'm going to keep the in-game eyes and use Corean hair and just be satisfied with it so I can get back to my game. The only reason I was pushing toward finding a solution is because I'm persistent, I'd read that others had worked through these issues, and I want to learn my way about all this mess. I'm thinking it's an issue of the way all the different mods are packed and they just won't all work together unless you're very experienced at all these packages. I'm not. Maybe one day I can get them to work together, but that day doesn't look like it'll be today. :\
