Wrye Bash Tags for FCOM++

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 9:05 am

I am in the process of installing an FCOM+++ game, but have a question about the bash tags. The bash tag guide I've seen for this mod recommends to tag "all FCOM mods" for certain sections such as 'Actors.Spells".. For someone who has done this before: does this mean I need to tag only the main ESMs? Or does this also include the lesser ESP files like FCOM_Convergence.esp? And, even further, does it mean I need to check the boxes for patch mods like Mart's Monster Mod - DiverseWaterLife? And does it matter if I check bash tags for a mod that is merged into the bashed patch?

Thanks in advance!

A really good place to ask FCOM related questions would be in it's own thread, no?
Personally with all the independent topics cropping up all over the forum with queries that could and should be answered in the home thread I'll be igoring future threads like this one.

I think I'm like wrinkyninja and having a bad day. :hubbahubba:

What Shikishima said. Also, the Quick Bash guide even comes with an explanation what "all FCOM mods" means, so hard to misunderstand IMO:

"All FCOM mods" means select FCOM, Frans, OOO, MMM, WarCry in that patch section but take note of exceptions.

If that excluded esm's it should have said so on the box. Do you really need each FCOM, Fran's, MMM, WarCry esm/esp spelled out?

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the help a lot, but please spare me the uppety "if you don't know everything about modding then you're an idiot" sarcasm and attitude. I've seen it all before, as I've been modding/playing TES since Daggerfall.

Anyways, neither of the above posts answered/understood the question. I realize that I obviously wouldn't be skipping over the ESM master files, and neither do I need "each ESM/ESP spelled out" either.

So does anybody else know if I need to only check the ESMs, or do I also need to check every ESP file and smaller ESP patch files associated with each FCOM mod? That description from the tagging guide could mean any of the above.

Man, "all FCOM mods" mean just that, ALL esm's/esp's from FCOM, OOO, MMM, WarCry, Fran's. The guide already says so. If that's "uppety" I'm quite fine with it really. Why should I have to repeat something that's already clearly stated in the guide?

If you use http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id+20516 you do not have to worry about applying any tags at all, because BOSS automatically applies the proper tags to every MOD that it recognises.
Any new esp's that do come out for FCOM are usually recognised and tagged by BOSS within two days of release - usually in less than 24 hours.
EDIT changed esp to MOD.

True, but the thing is that there are a couple of exceptions with current UFCOM releases, which necessitates the Bash Tag guide. But normally you should check all plugins that turn up under each Import section as there is a reason (the bash tag) that they are there. That is mentioned in the guide as well BTW. The question is rather if there is a particular plugin you SHOULDN'T check - which is what the guide is about.

Because it's not clearly stated. Think about how ambiguous the statement "all FCOM mods" is. That's a pretty vague description that could mean all mods and all patches, only the FCOM mods but not OOO+MMM etc, only the master files, etc. etc. A better description could definitely be used there, even with the extra description you pointed out. Try to think from other people's perspective, for instance: someone who doesn't spend all of their spare time modding Oblivion.

That is why you should trust the tools that we modders who do have all day give to everyone.

So trust the BOSS when it comes to bash tags that is adds to mod via bash and

If you plan on using any mod and it is listed under one of the bashed patched settings then there is most likely a good reason once again.

If you do not plan on using it then do not select it at all period..

===

Our Guide in the fcom thread does not cover every possible bash patch option once again Just the BASIC FCOM setup.

Also that if you are installing FCOM then you have knowledge of how things work in particular bashed patch and due to how complicated FCOM can be to setup once again.
