[RELZ] Wrye Bash -- Thead 56

Post » Thu Sep 02, 2010 1:39 am

Could you please add the install requirements to the first post?

I know I haveto dowload a lot of stuff, like wxpython, comtypes for windows, etc.

Should make it easier to have one place with that useful info - particularly since the updates in the code allow for recent versions of packages bundled in the "mega pack" install.

This is what I found.

Requirements:
  • It's easiest to just download the WryePython03a package from http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 unless you like to customize your install.
    (http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.5/python-2.6.5.msi or http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.6/python-2.6.6.msi), http://downloads.sourceforge.net/wxpython/wxPython2.8-win32-ansi-2.8.11.0-py26.exe, http://sourceforge.net/projects/comtypes/files/comtypes/0.6.2/comtypes-0.6.2.win32.exe/download, http://www.voidspace.org.uk/downloads/psyco-1.6.win32-py2.6.zip, and http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=78018
Older/Newer versions _may_ work but those are probably the most widely used and tested

Just use this link http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 to install python on your PC and use Wrye Bash 287 for upgrade to Wrye Bash 290. :)

Now this is funny - just had a clean install of oblivion + wrye python 03a in a new pc.

Wrye bash build 282 is the only version I can run... Updating to any later version doesnt work.

What gives?=(

Installed build 287 and unpacked 290 on top now it works... Strange.

Why mess with 290 at all when there is 291?

=======================

So with the new WAC released - it reminded me of another small request. It contains a modified version of Crowded Roads Revisited called WAC - Crowded Roads Revisited.esp

Would it be possible/is it possible to get or change one of them lists that add names to work for it too?

thanks

..
So now I've decided to abandoned WB 291 and go back to 290 version, ...

Am I totally out of date or is this some version that isn't publicly available? I still use v287.

I am still using v287 :)

v290 is available on nexus as an upgrade to v287 and higher.
v291 is in testing and although you can download and test for the developers, has not yet been released.

I think that I had some problem when I tried 290, so I reverted to 287 as it was advised somewhere.
I'll just wait for v291 and it's awesome installer.
:)

I must correct my self because the damm ghosted issue is back again on my PC with Wrye Bash 287 and 290, but this time I suspect both OBMM-Ext v10.11.15 (running in safe mode) and the Windows registry that cause this ghosted behavior. :banghead:

Oh well, back to manually removing registry entries of both OBMM and Wrye Bash perhaps even Python as well.

I will also wait for a stable Wrye Bash 291 with a self installer. I only wish that this issue can be fixed soon, so we all can enjoy our playing. :)

Question-

I've only used the import face feature to do just that - import the face I made from one character onto another, but I'm curious about stats import function.

Will using this import attributes, skills, and level? I sure hope so that would be neat-o.

My 1v1 3 character is playing Windfall and a good way through it, but I can see that I will not keep that mod installed and I want to avoid the main Oblivion quest as much as possible for this character and focus instead on SI on mods. Unfortunately I chose the wrong alternate start mod - I went with Arrive by Ship due to some hiccups with a few chargen mods that I now realize can be loaded after chargen. I would like to use the http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19949 - so that I don't even have to worry about going to kvatch triggering anything and, of course, it is alive.

I can tell that as far as possessions I won't care much about losing most of them and will uninstall Windfall anyway - I just want to keep the character progress. I basically made the character and immediately played the dungeon through to Windfall anyway, so that is all he has done.

Otherwise I guess I will have to use the console to set the skills and attributes to match what he has at the end of Windfall.

========================

[edit] also PacifcMorrowind - nevermind about the whole WAC issue - with the either the new Bash or more likely the new WAC the issue is no more. The only creatures effected by the bashed patch now are boars and imps as per the tweak.

Question: Are there any workaround to use the side/task bar (W7 x64 user) for the 'Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw - Atalho'? If I fix it WB doesn't open - who open is a python shell.

Yes, there is a work around that. The only thing you need to do is to create a short cut on the Wrye Bash Launcher in the Oblivion\Moby folder and send it to desktop. After that just open it's properties and in the first line you should see something like this "\Oblivion\Moby\Wrye Bash Launcher.py".

Just before this "\Oblivion\Moby\Wrye Bash Launcher.py" you write exactly like this "C:\Python26\pythonw.exe " without quotes and confirm the changes. The result should be something like this.

C:\Python26\pythonw.exe "C:\Games\Oblivion\Moby\Wrye Bash Launcher.py"

Please note that both paths could be different on your computer. Now you can stick it to the task bar if you want. :)

my antivirus, Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, is complaining about Bash 291
I've been using bash for a long time now and I'm sure it's a false positive.
reporting it just in case it is useful somehow.

I dont use comrade Kaspersky's software, but I think its a false behaviour detection, KIS 2011 has been annoying people with this report recently more often associated with Sun Java, but also when nsixec.dll of NSIS installers is called (which Wrye Bash 291 beta installer uses).

That warning strikes me as excessively paranoid for no good reason. Python has plenty of legitimate uses, like any other language. Also, like any other language, it can be used to do bad things. I have to wonder if they give the same warnings about potential rootkits for the .NET software :P

:teehee: Or Visual basic, or anything that can execute interpreted code.

Nero if you have any doubt try a second opinion with something good, free and non-resident like http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

..or something else you already have installed - just go into your start button, and type in mrt and press return, that will launch microsofts malicious software removal tool and via its (usually hidden) interface you can now get it to do a full system scan on demand instead of its usual once a blue moon run initiated by windows update.

Mr. Wrye,

As Jack of SG1 says to Hammond in Heroes, Part 1:

"...I just wanted to express my deep and unyielding... love for you, sir."

All the best, and gratitude for this most excellent of elder scrolls database technologies. =)

The Wrye Bash Launcher has no console and bash.py has a console, but both of them is a python file.

Yes, it's the same except for the console.

All Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw does is:
1) Suppress the console
2) Explicitly disable debug print statements.
3) Start bash.py.

All Wrye Bash Debug.py does is:
1) Enable the console
2) Explicitly enable debug print statements.
3) Start bash.py.

Running bash.py without any arguments is functionally equivalent to using Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw.
Running bash.py with the -d argument is mostly equivalent to using Wrye Bash Debug.py. The -d argument enables some extra debugging routines and disables psyco in addition to enabling various debug print statements.

A question about the camera options available in Wrye Bash Tweak Settings. I've been using a mod called http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1840 to fix the very annoying third person camera in Oblivion, since I do spend a lot of time in 3rd person. I haven't tried playing around with the options in WB, but I'm considering it now to save a esp-slot. The GMST settings changed by ChaseCameraMod are:
fChase3rdPersonXYMult set to 99 (4 is the base set in Oblivion.esm)
fChase3rdPersonVanityXYMult set to 99 (not available in Oblivion.esm)

Now I'm curious if anyone who has played around with the Tweak camera settings in WB knows how to if not copy but atleast get a result that is close to this? I assume the Chase Camera Tightness is the place to start but I'm not quite sure what the various camera settings actually do in WB.

These tweaks are in my opinion the best camera mod that exists for the game. I play at 5x distance (well you can just slide out that far) and 3x tightness. Gets rid of the swaying sea sickness and allows your to really see the beautiful modded world.

Just try a few settings with each new bashing. Other than tightness the distance is just what become available. The camera mods that replace 1st person view though I greatly dislike because they remove 1st person for another 3rd person.

Saiden Storm made the best one for Fallout3 - wish he would do if for Oblivion. Using FOSE he made it so you can make two over the shoulder camera placement presets then toggle between them. Then using these same tweaks in bash for Fallout3 - it is the best experience.

Cheers - I'll try those settings for starters and adjust from there. Though I just looked at the ChaseCameraMod esp and realized it can easily be merged into one of my existing merged.esp's incase I don't get this to work like I'd want it. :)

@wetblanket, it shouldn't affect first person at all as far as I know.

Not that I'm aware of.

But I'm curious what tweaks that would be - like field of vision? There are ini settings for that. Those might be good ini tweaks to request.

I played around a lot with the FOV settings in Fallout 3 and New Vegas, and the problem with changing them from the default of 75 (it's the same in Oblivion) was that certain screen elements will go out of sync. In the Fallouts it was stuff such as the computer monitors, the pipboy and so on but from what I read some time ago certain screen elements can get messed up in Oblivion aswell. Could be interesting to play around with though as there are methods of aligning those correctly via other ini-tweaks in Fallout atleast to fit the new FOV-setting.

Oh and thanks again, I actually found 5x distance and 3x tighness to be exactly what I was looking for - no need to merge the esp now (as the esp wouldn't give me the increase distance anwyay)

Thanks guys. Anyway, it's only the first five minutes or so that makes me queasy, so not a big deal really. Altering FOV seemed to have little effect on this so now I leave it at default settings.

You get queasy in first person? Really? Only vanilla 3rd person does that for me. What would need to change? I've not heard of this before except using a DOF can do that for me.
