Just reran r799 after ghosting 2 files with CBash on, no errors here. So it's not a ghosting issue.

Didn't you say you don't use ghosting? According to the bugdump, it is ghosted.

Will fix this issue later today. Have to head out for a bit.

Never ever, not even out of curiosity to try it, I read about it, did not like the idea, never used it. Someone asked me to explain the subject in the Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide thread here on gamesas, I told him pretty much the same.

Edit: Just double checked, no ghosting selected anywhere, no Auto Ghost, unless Wrye bash has auto ghosted without my knowledge I have not done so myself. Similarly all the VWalk anim patches for surazals mod appear to be ghosted in that report, not by my hand. Pretty much all the dot and + files.

Yes, but your list it's showing there clearly has ghosted files in it. No idea why the Red Bag file is causing issues that way though.

A lot of files in the bugdump are named blabla.esp.ghost though. Think there was someone a few weeks ago that reported WB ghosting files even when he didn't want it to, so maybe that is what happened for you aswell? I get the same error-dump as you and have auto-ghosting selected

I don't generally use it either but I guess those two that have been for my test are staying that way now :)

Since ghosting was introduced I have studiously and carefully avoided any selection ghost related. Not even once in error.

Anyway onwards ... Unfortunately Waruddar has left the building - When required I will resume from where we are and not do any more modding/changes, I have about 3 hours left then will be away for the next day.

Yeah, as I recall, Bash doesn't track whether you're the one that ghosted the file or whether Bash auto-ghosted the file. So it has no way of knowing whether a ghosted file should be unghosted when the auto-ghost option is disabled. If a file was ghosted when auto-ghosting is disabled, you gotta manually de-ghost it. As alt3rn1ty figured out though, you can multi-select all your files and manually ghost/de-ghost everything at once.

Ghosting in general has been problematic to work with. Wrye tacked it on fairly late in Bash's life when the issue with excess esps was discovered, so it doesn't really fit with the rest of the program's design.

Don't know how ghosting got enabled if you never used it. Maybe it was on by default at one point? Or there might be a bug lurking somewhere. As I said, ghosting was tacked onto Bash, so there could easily be somewhere in the code that wasn't adjusted properly (even after all this time).

The ghosting issue will be easy enough to fix with CBash. If the first lookup fails, I'll just add the ghost extension and try again.

I'll also look into your new issue.

Its no problem for me I can still use non-C-Bash (actually quite keen to switch back now I have a seemingly bug free 291 with my setup), but will be lurking with the intent of getting through revisions to resolve problems with you if you require (for a few hours anyway, early start in the morning here)

Revision 801 contains some important bug fixes for CBash when ghosted files are used. It should fix this current bug. There's also an extremely good chance that it will fix some of the other odd bugs that have been reported.

I think I know what's causing it to be in a ghosting mode and the only thing I can think of is OBMM which might triggered it, because if I open up Wrye Bash (before I touched OBMM) everything looks good. But after I use OBMM and reopen Wrye Bash afterwards the ghosting mode is active if any plugin is deactivated. Yes, even an esm could sometimes be ghosted but it's not often though and the same issue goes for the bashed patch as well. I've now and then notice that bashed patch is sometimes deactivated in the Oblivion launcher through the Data files menu option.

I've notice a peculiar things that's happen when you're using Wrye Bash self installer. Earlier today I made another attempt to install Oblivion along with the mods I wanted to use, so after the usual (GOTY, TES CS, 5 DLC) installation I checked the "C:\\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion" folder and I found no Oblivion.ini file in there which means that you haven't configured Oblivion yet.

I've just finished the installation of Wrye Bash to open it through the installer. I exit Wrye Bash just to check that Oblivion folder and find the Oblivion.ini file in there. I uninstall Wrye Bash and delete any files in that game folder. After that I installed boss, obmm and wyre bash, but without open them during the installation (if you have the second check box unchecked for Oblivion in Wrye Bash setup).

Why is that Wrye Bash generate an Oblivion.ini file in the game folder during the installation if you have both check boxes for Oblivion checked?

Revision 803:

Fixed the animation patcher issue reported by alt3rn1ty.

Added improved exception handling when CBash is unable to find a file (for whatever reason). Should give more detailed information, and possibly allow the patch to continue on its way. Even if the patch finishes after an error, there's a good chance that it will be incomplete.

Fixed some potential issues in how CBash iterates through the mods. Might affect:
  • Export Relations
  • Eye merging
  • Randomizing eyes/hairs


Rewrote the portion of Leveled List merging and inventory importing that was giving KC33 his newest problem. Needs testing.

Edit: Aah elapsed time 1 min 16, compared with my usual approx 2 min 40 thats quite an improvement.

There does seem to be a difference in the file size of the bashed patch, with non CBash it was 6077kb, with CBash its now 5951kb

I have yet to run the game .. But will give it a go - Fingers crossed I will have nothing bizarre to report.

Edit2: Just did another run of building the bashed patch out of curiosity before loading the game, closed a few windows and processes down I had idle, and ran it as the Monkey God intended (sans bugdump routine) - 1 min 12 elapsed time on this run.

After loading the game up for the first time, I had the warning message "This save relies on content no longer available... etc" - Odd that one because the load order is the same as before. But otherwise the game seems to be fine (need more time obviously, just wanted to bring back that missing content message - Erm, second thoughts, will hold it there in case there's anything else you would like checked before proceeding and streamline starts overwriting save points)

I'm still using 290, and I have a bizarre issue. When I rebuild my bashed patch, the results are opened in a full-fledged Firefox tab, instead of their usual little window. No idea what caused this to start happening (I'm sure it's my fault somehow), but does anyone know how to put it right again? :blush:

Sounds like it's opening with Python.exe instead of Pythonw.exe...

Sounds like it's opening with Python.exe instead of Pythonw.exe...


Any idea how to nudge it back into opening with Pythonw.exe, then? :blink:
