thank you for your work on this PM. just updated and i wanted to make another suggestion for bashed patch feetures. checking all y o ur active mods for greater powers so the y can be used with Cobl Exhaustion?

I think the problem is that (when updating the patch) Bash doesn't seem to realize that Cobl is installed. Like so:

Okay, so, I don't know how the game determines what spells a spell vendor sells... do they just sell every spell they know? If so, can the Bashed Patch merge that data? If not, then how? And again, can the Bashed Patch merge THAT data?

I mentioned I figured out how to fix that last page too... I'll upload a fixed file wiht that (and some other stuff too); or in the mean time on line 9890 you can replace .iteritems() with .items()

I lost my installers tab again..This time i found this line in the file you don't seam to mention....theres alot of files in the mopy folder. but only one had line 9890 with that on the line. so i changed it and it works!!!!

The 2.78b version incorrectly reports as 279. Really, though, just go for 279.

To get Bash to do Cobl Exhaustion on all the powers, simply tick "Cobl Exhaustion" on the left pane when you rebuild your patch. On the right pane should be a list of files that list GPs from various mods and the Exhaust ratio for each. I think Bash ships with two default files but you can make your own by using the Export Names function, trimming out everything that isn't a GP, and formatting the file similar to the default ones.

That is, it's supposed to work that way... I'm currently having trouble with it. :huh:

Yes NPCs sell every spell they know; currently the Bashed Patch just copies the last loading mods' that changes a particular NPC's record spell list as one unit... but not for long; I have a 90% completed function Import Spells which will properly merge changes to the spells list ala Import Inventory.

If you have improved/better icons I'd be happy to use them instead (not my strongsuit that)... or other suggestions of programs to include in launchers.
I thought I'd made 32/16 for all of the icons... what ones are missing?

Umm, BSA commander doesn't have a install path really. You just unzip it anywhere you want, but here is the logical windows path:
C:\Program Files\BSA Commander\bsacmd.exe
*NOTE* the actual folder it is in the download is bsacmd\bsacmd.exe. I just renamed it full and tossed it in the program files folder. This keeps the huge amount of extracted files out of the oblivion neighborhood until one is ready to move/work with the files. Oblivion folder/Fallout folder etc within the BSA folder. A simple archive structure then starts with Vanilla Oblivion/Meshes*Texs whatever or Lost Spires/Meshes*tex etc. Whatever.
Plus it keeps things right where I want them for Pyffi testing with the automated tools.

The java apps need icons.
The OBMM button points to the database_connect32.png Should be obmm16 or 32.png
The TES4LODGen button points to the brick_go32.png Is this icon used for representing other things? Tes 4 edit bricks also?
Maybe they should be named accordingly with their own icons.
It would be nice to be able to disable the tes4view/tes4trans/tes4edit buttons in the ini, so if one only need one or two of them, the others can be temporarily disabled.
Also if the 32 size green and red boxes are supposed to be showing up(obse & auto quit buttons) when launched with 32 size icons, they are still showing 16.

About the request I mentioned in the PM I sent to you with the icons to have the custom buttons launch a folder path or image files etc also. This would essentially give the custom launch buttons about the same power and functionality as G keys have on a logitech gaming keyboard. I see no reason for text macros with the buttons.
One could set a custom button up to launch G-series keyboard profiler or setpoint if wanted, so they could set up their oblivion profile before playing(the real macros that will be used In-game).

For anyone following my plaintive whining recently, I've finally figured out why my patch wouldn't rebuild properly. If you're using full BALO, and the patch is in any group but LAST or NONE, it won't load ESMs when you rebuild it. I have expanded upon the default BALO groups in my recent re-install, and I had one called "BASH" that I thought would be a good place for the patch and the load-right-before-the-patch mods. Uh, nope.

I emailed PM about it, but thought I'd share it here so anyone else with obsessive organization tendencies like me wouldn't fall into the same trap.

FYI PM, I noticed something to mention for a future version: the INI Edits tab is awesome, but it won't let you install an edit if the line doesn't already exist in the oblivion.ini. For example, with the default oblivion.ini, you can't install the border regions and save backups tweaks that come with Bash.

And I don't know if this has been answered already, but is it possible to define custom icons for the apps you set up in the ini? Oh, and with TESEdit/View/Trans, is it possible to choose which you want to see in the icon row? I only want Edit, but I get View and Trans in addition.

It would really be helpful if we could access the read-Me's WHILE on the installers tab.

For now what I do is while making the BAIN folder I copy important info for the mod, when on the install tab i paste it into the comment section.

This works of course but during the last time when i lost use of Bash I also lost all those comments, is there a file one could copy that had those comments and could restore them later if needed?

Again Great program and thanks for the continued hard Work!!

I started having a problem with Wrye Bash today. I was using v277 which was working previously but then today it completely failed to start when double-clicked on. I would get the mouse cursor turn into the cursor/hourglass combo for about four seconds then back to the cursor and nothing happening. After this happened, I downloaded the latest Wrye Bash available on TESNexus then copied those files over my current installation. That didn't fix the problem though.

After that, I tried deleting everything inside the Mopy and My Documents folders. I did not delete what was installed into the Data folder and the Installers data since I didn't think those could cause a problem. It didn't work though.

Then I reinstalled all the Python components (Python 2.6.4, wxPython, PyWin, ComTypes and Psyco) but that didn't help either. Then I deleted all the compiled files in the Mopy directory and watched what happened there when I double clicked on the Wrye Bash launcher. Basically, four compiled files appeared, the last one being Bosh.pyc, then it stopped like before. Then I tried editing Bosh.py to replace every instance of IterItems with Items to see what happens but that had as much effect as all the other fixes.

I'm now completely stumped as to what could be causing the problem. Please could someone help in this regard? Help will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I'm using Windows XP in case that may be a factor (but still, it was working before today on this same OS).

The OBMM button points to the database_connect32.png Should be obmm16 or 32.png
The TES4LODGen button points to the brick_go32.png
...
Also if the 32 size green and red boxes are supposed to be showing up(obse & auto quit buttons) when launched with 32 size icons, they are still showing 16.

Looks like PM already fixed the TES4LOD link, but not OBMM. One of us will fix it for the next version.
The java apps need icons.

Is this icon used for representing other things? Tes 4 edit bricks also?
Maybe they should be named accordingly with their own icons.

A lot of the original icons were dragged over, so they just have their original names. Changing them to a better name would mean a bit of extra debris in the directory from older versions (because I doubt users would remember/look to delete the old ones) - not much of a problem, but then again generic names isn't much of a problem either.

Java icons - it's just Gecko and the Book Creator. I think we can leave the Cog for Gecko, and get a new one for the Book Creator.
It would be nice to be able to disable the tes4view/tes4trans/tes4edit buttons in the ini, so if one only need one or two of them, the others can be temporarily disabled.

Oh, and with TESEdit/View/Trans, is it possible to choose which you want to see in the icon row? I only want Edit, but I get View and Trans in addition.

Already done (it's been bugging me, too :)) - will be in the next version.

I've already expanded it to handle Java apps. Let me see how smart Python is about handling .txt files, etc. (as in, let me see if it already handles them correctly and I don't have to do anything :P).

??? Would that do anything? That is, does Oblivion look for .ini settings that aren't in the original/default .ini? and I totally have the save backup var in my .ini - are you using an older version of Oblivion?

Since I'm eternally behind on new features that have been added, and since I just spent a bunch of time cleaning some mods I have two questions:

What, exactly, does Anneal mean?

Is there any function to take the files in the Data directory and copy them back into the archive files? This would be useful in cases where you clean a mod, or alter an ini file, or repair a mesh or texture.

I'm not sure how hard it would be with mesh/textures/other resources, since those can be shared by several mods, but it might not be too difficult with the esp and ini files.

Basically it means consolidate the installation, whether installing missing files or replacing files after you changed the order of your packages in the installer.
Install means full installation, anneal just copies the necessary files from the package.

At least that's my understanding of it :).

I asked this in the BOSS thread but I am going to ask here as it may be more suited for this thread. I have Elaborate Eyes installed and when I use BOSS it auto tags "eyes" and deactivate. When I rebuild the Bashed Patch, I mark "eyes" and rebuild. Works great untill I try to deactivate Elaborate Eyes at which time it deactivated Bashed Patch and complains about children mods (can't remember how it is worded exactly). Elaborate Eyes is not mergable. If I try to rebuild without Elaborate Eyes checked I end up without the effects of the mod in game. This is the Elaborate Eyes from nexus and not the combined one from other sites. Could there be an error in the way it is being Bashed Patched now? I am using v279.

Also, I forgot to ask: Was there supposed to be an implementation where you could click the BOSS button without turning off Lock Times first? I thought I'd heard that, but when I tried it earlier WB reset everything when BOSS was shut down.

Found a bug. Or, rather, a mislabeling.

In a variety of places throughout bosh.py, the record definitions erroneously have colors in the order red, blue, green. It should be red, green, blue.

Example:
NPC_        MelStruct('HCLR','3Bs','hairRed','hairBlue','hairGreen',('unused3',null1)),

should be:
NPC_        MelStruct('HCLR','3Bs','hairRed','hairGreen','hairBlue',('unused3',null1)),


I doubt this has caused any ill effects because these values are typically treated as a group.

Other places:

Well locked times is supposed to keep records of timestamps so it does exactly what it's supposed to do if it resets...
If you just want to record your load order there is List->Save list...

As for the mismatched files I think it overwrites them, simple enough to check, backup your cleaned esp(s) just in case and click anneal, if it doesn't say it's mismatched after the anneal then it overwrites them...

I realize that's what lock times is for, but since the main reason for pushing the BOSS button at the bottom of WB is to reorder your mods, I thought the plan was to have WB set up so that pushing that button would temporarily disable Lock Times, and then re-enable it after BOSS did it's reordering.

However, I also recall mention of making that a choice in the WB ini or configuration, but now I can't recall if there is one yet. Can't find it just at the moment. Too late at night. edit: found the ini, but no sign of an option for auto-disabling Lock Times when BOSS button is clicked.

I guess I'll have to back up the cleaned ESPs in the morning and then test out annealing. I need to back them up anyway. Good thing I have TES4View's backup files to remind me which ones I edited.

Just simply put a little reminder out to delete the image folder before dropping the new one in. If they already have custom icons, just move them out of the folder before deleting it and toss them back in with the new.

Anyway I decided the cog was the best representation for gecko also. Made one up from the shortcut.

Okay, potentially silly, and most likely answered numerous times, but the Wrye Wiki didn't really answer this and the search function on the forums gives me far too many results that aren't what I'm looking for.

Long story short, trying to use the Ahtata Orc replacer, made sure it's meshes and textures were installed nearly last since they are more specific. When I ran the bashed patch, the mod wouldn't apply even though it was dead last on the list of options in NPC Faces and Race Records. I know it says that if the same item is changed, the last loading mod wins, but that hasn't been the case. Do I flag it with NoMerge so that all it's components go into the patch above all else, or something else?

Got it working by cheaply putting it after the bashed patch, but I'd really rather not do that and actually learn more of Wrye Bash. Any help appreciated, mockery not so much, but I guess it's deserved too. :P

[edit] Oh, and since I'm asking. The Loading Screen Themed Replacer for OOO isn't required if I'm using Wrye anyway, right? That mod is for people that don't use it I assume?
