Edit: H2Odk, another GOTY user said that his BSA is 1,189,276 KB, which is the size of the patched BSA.


The texture BSA installed by GOTY disc 1 (EU version) is 1,189,309 KB (1,217,852,280 bytes)

The Oblivion.exe installed by disc 1 is version 1.0.228

The OblivionLauncher.exe installed by disc 1 is version 1.0.0.1

That is fine. The launcher seems to be a 1.0.0.1 change. The BSA is patched with a later update. Disc 2 must take care of installing the Oblivion 1.2.0.416 patch.

I can not compare it to a 1.0 (that was why I included a MD5), but I suspect it is a 1.0 BSA.

So if you install GOTY disc 1 + 2, you end up with 1.2.0.416 SI, but with a unpatched 1.0 BSA.

The GOTY edition patches the Textures BSA according to that users experience. I cannot imagine that the person just happened to come up with the exact same size that I found in my testing or that there are to GOTY editions floating around... What is the size of your textures BSA as you see it in the Data folder now? I do not need the MD5. Those numbers are different. Do you have disc 2 installed?

What is the size of your textures BSA as you see it in the Data folder now? I do not need the MD5. Those numbers are different. Do you have disc 2 installed?

Yes. I was thinking that as well. I just reinstalled today to get the patched BSA and, more importantly, the launcher with the video presets. ^____^

I need to go to bed, but I will post my testing shots. H2Odk can compare the GOTY EU sizes. Hopefully, an EN user can compare the sizes as well. I'll update this post (or post again) in a few minutes.

Having an odd problem with my bash patch. Nothing is wrong with my Oblivion install, and my game seems to freeze on load with the bash patch enabled. Without the bash patch active it loads fine. I have never ran into this problem before. It loads fine in TES4EDIT, but freezes oblivion. ARG!

That generally happens when the bashed patch has a reference to something that doesn't exist anymore. It can happen if a mod has been updated and dropped a reference, or changed its ID, but the bashed patch hasn't been rebuilt yet.

There's also a much less common issue that cropped up using older versions of Bash and OSR configured in Heap 1.

Slowly coming back to this game ... or at least trying to stay updated ... want to install latest bash so need Wrye Pyhon 03 and have 02 and a the latest comtypes installed. Can I just use the windows remove program feature to remove previous python? Are there any other steps required than doing that then making sure that all folder legacy is deleted?

Well ok so I did the above ^ and made sure to take out all the old python/wrye python I could find.

Ran Wrye Python 03 which seemed as easy as 02, but then Bash would not start :rolleyes:

No error message just would not start, so tested Wrye mash and it told me that wxpython was not installed (the older version more informative) ... so apparently the Wrye Python installer did not run that - I then ran it from the temp install folder and bash started and gave me this error code right off:

Psymon, that's normal the first time you launch Bash after comtypes is installed. Or at least I assume it is because it did that to me when I launched it after reinstalling comtypes.

Oh ok well then still the installer did not install wxpython - so that is notable.

So what I did is run the comtypes again without deleting what was in the folder (from 03 not 02) but then I thought - hmm what if another component overwrote/changed any of that - probably not but for those that tend to WB that maybe having a manual of what gets installed in what order might be helpful.

or just get the installer working.

... did it install everything for you?

Yes, Bash is working fine. I was poking around in Python 2.7 and the 64-bit stuff to see how Bash fared, which wasn't well, so I put stuff back and I guess forgot about comtypes. Only noticed because the bashed patch output window kept going to a browser tab instead of an internal window.

Quite a few people have reported that the wxPython installer doesn't run when they run Wrye Python 2/3. Only thing I can assume is it's a windows vista/7 permissions issue. I know if you run it as admin with UAC off, it will install fine, but can't tell you for sure about other options. Anyway, the "fix" for this is just to run the wxPython installer manually in the temp folder Wrye Python extracts it to.

As for the comtypes stuff, that's some "first time startup" stuff that the comtypes module prints out the first time it's used.

Well I may have messed something up as it seems I'm getting no color notifications that masters are out of order for certain esp.

for instance the new Frostcrag Reborn-Snowdale patch it has snowdale as a master and if I load snowdale after it then the patch remains green - shouldn't it change to let me know the master is not loading prior to it?

errr - hmm maybe it is just that esp - others are turning orange when the master is loaded after the patch. Strange.

wow seemed to bash faster and I like the read out on time taken.

... took me nearly five hours tracking down, repackaging, installing all the mod updates I've missed in the last 2 months.

I got it. It seems to throw the error when you Merge Patches->bgBalancingEVOptionalFangs.esp.


Still can't duplicate the message on my side.

It is not listed under Race Records for me, because it does not have tags. (need to update my masterlist.txt, and taglist.txt has well)

Try adding this tag R.Teeth that should make it show up in race records

Make sure that is getting selected under merge patches has well. Has to be merged else will not get imported into Race Records correctly.


Following up on this. The error is displayed when you have Merge Patches->bgBalancingEVOptionalFangs.esp checked and Race Records->bgBalancingEVCore.esp checked. Unchecking either of them will stop the error being displayed.

bgBalancingEVCore.esp is tagged with Eyes, Hair, R.Relations. bgBalancingEVOptionalFangs.esp has no tags. Adding R.Teeth to either or both of them makes no difference - the only thing that will stop an error is not merging the bgBalancingEVOptionalFangs.esp when importing races from bgBalancingEVCore.esp.

Should bgBalancingEVOptionalFangs.esp be tagged with NoMerge then, or am I missing some trick?

I sometimes wonder what it is that is different about some people's Windows 7 setups (than my own), or maybe in some cases, what they've done to it... :huh:

Because yeah, I've not had a single issue with Wrye Python, or any other mod, mod utility, game or application of any other kind, other than needing to install some such things outside of protected areas (e.g., Program Files or Program Files (x86).) No "Run as Administrator" required, for anything at all. No UAC settings changes required. Puzzling, really. :unsure2:

  • To avoid anomalies with the NoMerge and Deactivate tags, I always do a "Select all" and "Mark mergeable" before rebuilding the Bashed Patch to ensure that the tags are processed consistently. Would it be possible to do this automatically before processing the dialogue that asks if you want to have WB deactivate mods that are mergeable, have the NoMerge tag or the Deactivate tag present?

  • I would like to see BOSS tags override mod tags rather than merge them as it currently does. Rationale is that BOSS only specifies Tag suggestions to ensure that the user overrides the mod's tags defined in the Description - this almost always leads to having to adjust the tags manually (TamrielTravellersItemsNPC is an example that illustrates this issue).

  • I would like to see the Actors.Anims merge animation changes rather than simply use the latest ESP. So for example, if you use DMC and Real Walks (with Real Walks loading after DMC), then all the DMC animations get imported, but the Walk Forward animation in DMC is overridden by the Real Walk animation. The result would be having all the DMC animations with the Real Walk animation active.

1. Actually, this is the case in 286+, you may notice some lag when you select 'Rebuild Patch', that's because it's retesting all mods to see if they're mergeable.
2. Sounds like a good idea to me, but I'm not a bashed patch expert, so we'll see what Waruddar and PM say about it
3. Definitely sounds like it should work that way. I think it'll just be a matter of updating the patcher to do it that way, so we'll have to wait for PM on that one.

Just weird, Maybe it is a Windows Vista or Seven thing. still using XP here..

Bash 2.87 once again, Python 2.6, Comtypes 0.6.2, Pysco 1.6, pywin32 - 264, wxpython 2.8.10.1

To be on the safe side.

OptionalFangs needs R.teeth added to it. Has it changes races to have a different set to teeth. According to tes4edit.

It should not be selected in load order , but it needs to be merged. It should be selected under merge patches and under races has well.

And if you deactivate all mods exepect these and build patch do you still get the same error..?

Are you ghosting it by chance ?
