Download: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 or https://sourceforge.net/projects/oblivionworks/files
Readme: http://wryemusings.com/Wrye%20Bash.html (at time slightly outdated... most up to date readme in the download - the file named Wrye Bash.html in the mopy folder)
Wrye Bash Wiki: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:Wrye_Bash

Previous Topic: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1087446-relz-wrye-bash-thread-no-40/
Requirements
Python 2.5.4 and wxpython 2.8.7.1 ansi (the old "official" setup) - if using this best to just download the installer package http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 from TesNexus.
or
http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.6.4/python-2.6.4.msi, http://downloads.sourceforge.net/wxpython/wxPython2.8-win32-ansi-2.8.10.1-py26.exe, http://pypi.python.org/pypi/comtypes/0.6.1, http://www.voidspace.org.uk/downloads/psyco-1.6.win32-py2.6.zip, and http://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=78018. (the newer stuff so should be faster, needed for newer versions of Blender/Nifscripts/PyFFI, tested as working well other than one bug to be fixed) - now bundled in http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22368 at TesNexus.

Wrye Bash has a lot of features. I mean a LOT. It's like twenty tools rolled into one. It includes as subfeatures the entire feature sets of other tools, and offers plenty of other features that no other mod tool has. Except installation. It's the "everything but installation" tool! Now with installation too!

Bain
* Install/uninstall mods from zip, 7z, archives, etc. No OMODs required!

Bashed Patchers
* Configure and build a custom patch mod to...
* Merge leveled lists
* Merge TNR faces over other changes to npcs
* Merge race eye/hair/body/voice changes over other changes to races
* Tweak clothes: Show amulets with robes, zero weight rings and amulets, etc.
* Tweak misc. GMST settings.

Repair/Edit Stuff
* Repair animation bug (various animations freezing)
* Repair hair bug (game ctds when viewing race menu after removing a hair mod)
* Remove spells from spell list
* Rename created spells, enchanted items
* Remove bloating (one use of this reduced a 158 Mb savegame to 2.5 Mb)
* Import NPC levels into an existing savegame (essential when switching to/from OOO, Frans, etc.)
* Import PC face from other savegame or any mod (e.g., import any of TNR's faces into game)
* Easily generate html readmes using wiki-like syntax.

Mod, Savegame, Screenshot Management
* Auto-Ghost mods to reduce espm thrashing.
* Launch Oblivion and TESCS (with or without OBSE).
* Mod, save, screenshot file management. (Rename, duplicate, etc.)
* Save Profiles: Have different sets of saves for different npcs with different loadlists, etc.
* Screenshots: View, delete, batch rename, open, etc.
* Readme Browser: Quickly view readme of currently selected mod.
* Quick/Autoswap between SI and pre-SI versions of Oblivion.esm.

Installation: First time installation is still a little difficult, but later updates are easy (just unzip latest version into Oblivion directory). However, for first time installation you have to preinstall two other packages and then (sometimes) tweak a shortcut. You can't just download and press the pretty buttons -- you have to follow the readme instructions. If you have followed the instructions and still have problems, post the bugdump. If you've havent followed the instructions and whine that it won't work without posting the bugdump, Wrye will bite your fingers off (it's a monkey thing). Otherwise he's quite helpful.

Linking: If you'd like to link to Bash from somewhere else, please do! But be sure to link to either Wrye Musings or the Bash Readme. Don't link to the actual Bash zip file, since that changes fairly frequently.

Latest Version: 284 (RC1) release:
=== 284 (RC1) [09/05/2010] [Lojack,PacificMorrowind,Valda68k]* Incorrect italicization fixed.* Active mods with the 'Deactivate' tag will be highlighted in red.* Bashed Patch changes: * Actors.DeathItems moved (back) to seperate patcher for better Warcry & FCOM ease of use (and similar issues). * New Patcher: Import Spells - Actors.Spells and spellsOnly tags added for it, basically invent for spells. * RacePatcher changes: * Left eye import fix (contributed by Valda68k) * R.Ears tag added; imports ears * R.Attributes-F tag added; imports race attributes for females * R.Attributes-M tag added; imports race attributes for males * R.Skills tag added; imports race skill bonuses * R.Description tag added; imports race description * R.AddSpells tag added; imports race spells additions. * R.ChangeSpells tag added; imports race spell as totally new list. * NPC Hairlength will also be randomized when random hair/eyes are assigned (and even if both of those are pre-set) __if__ hair length is 0.0 or None. * another not insignificant optimization.* Merge dialogue no longer shows mergeable mods that load after the patch (those are not and have never been merged anyways)* Warning about delinquent/missing masters on rebuild doesn't warn for such errors for the patch itself (since presumably you are rebuilding the patch since you've changed your LO intentionally)* New warnings about NoMerge/Deactivate tagged mods being active at rebuild time (they shouldn't be).* 3 new GMST changers added to tweak settings* NPC Tweaker changes: * Renamed to Tweak Actors. * 'No Bloody Creatures' tweak added. * 'As Intended: Boars' tweak added. * 'As Intended: Imps' tweak added.* Mod Checker now alerts you if you have NoMerge or Deactivate tagged mods active instead of imported & deactivated.* BAIN: * Renaming now updates the 'Mods' and 'INI Edits' tabs * 2 bugfixes dealing with filtering (reported by Vindicator) * Double or middle clicking on an image in a BAIN Wizard will open the full image. * You can now create your own 'Markers'. Right click->Add Marker..., then type the name. the '==' will be added before and after for you.* comtypes is optional now. It is required for a couple function but most have work arounds enabled (ie Bashed Patch log loads in default internet browser) and Wrye Bash will work without it (features currently without workarounds are: the PM Archive panel, Doc Browser).* You can delete Installers and INI Edits with the Delete key now.* You can rearrange Load Order/Install Order on the Mods Tab and Installers Tab by dragging and dropping.the reason it is designated RC1 is the er rather large size of the changes for this version.Pacific Morrowind

and just to repeat some links and news:
Wrye4Fallout3.
TheLORDofDOOM of has taken on making a FO3 version... and here's the first little bit of it (not all translated to account for FO3 but it's showing promise). And another, a bit further along, by Valda called http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1079607-relz-garybash/.

and a bit more news:
There is now a listserve for the svn and bug/request/patch/support trackers; if you want to get emails whenever changes to those items happen just join over https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/oblivionworks-committers. You can also use it for support requests/questions if you desire.

Thanks for the new thread, and I edited my last post, of course. My concern is user friendliness.

It does exactly what I want it to do, actually.

Edit: Newly added packages never override anything in my package list either because all of my sorted packages are below the marker. Even if you do not sort your list every time you add a package, if they are below the last marker, you do not have the problem of them being overridden. So I was right in concluding that the Last marker's position has no bearing on how BAIN treats packages. It just happens to be named "Last"...

I was asking someone to explain the supposedly additional functionality. There isn't any. Users can use the marker however they want. I still think that the "New Packages Are Added above This" is more accurate. Users are putting it last in their load order, which nullifies the use you proposed for it as well.

"manually moved beyond the "last" marker will NEVER have a newly added package over-ride them."

If users have the marker actually loaded last, newly added packages are ALWAYS in a position to override everything else. Now, do you get why I think the name should be changed? Fine, it does not have to be first, but the name is still confusing for some. It does not tell the user what it does at all...

Edit: ...getting way too upset here, taking a break...going to go help with more user errors elsewhere...

For the record, the name "Last" was a hold-over from Wrye's BALO grouping for ESP/ESM files.

It was named that because the files below it were meant to load dead last in your load order. Same thing with packages in BAIN, so the name is the same.

What you are not understanding is that it was never intended as a general separator between newly added packages and packages that were already there (or were hand sorted, or whatever). It was intended to allow the user to designate a small number of special packages that would be given installation priority for special reasons.

If all Wrye wanted was to separate newly added packages from the rest of them in the way you describe, he would have had newly added packages get added to the start of the install order, not the end. As it is, the "Last" marker designates the end of the packages that are treated in a general way, and the beginning of the special packages.

You are repurposing it by designating all your "sorted" packages as being the special ones, and letting the newly added ones fall into the general category.

Could it have a new name. Possibly. Maybe that might even be a good idea. It wasn't the idea you proposed at the start of all this, though.

I'd have to agree really, that "Last" is counterintuitive. Sure, not the end of the world kind of thing. A bit odd, is all.

edit: And thanks, showler, for the history lesson. :) I suppose I should've looked all of that up, but well, thanks anyway. It helps put it in perspective.

It was the idea proposed at the start. My first post on the issue - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1089021-relz-wrye-bash-thread-no-41/page__view__findpost__p__15937973

The name I proposed at the beginning was enfused with my misunderstanding of the intended purpose of the marker. However, I was only every suggesting a name change. Outside of that, I was asking for what the actual functionality of the marker was, but for some reason, no one would tell me that. No, just jumping on my idea and not even try to figure out why I might've been asking. I had to do all of this rewording. Sorry, for not figuring out that everyone was on a completely different page. I had to deal with the argument, and... geez... If you had tried to see this from my point of view earlier... I was trying to point out the name, and sort out the functionality. I was frustrated and confused by the rewording of unhelpful responses.

My first post had to focuses, suggesting the name be changed and asking what the actual functionality of the marker is. This is so ridiculous...

Edit: My eye hurts right now. I cannot go back through that post and edit it. I am going to fold close and do some leisurely reading...

I apologize if you feel put out, but if you go back and look at my responses you'll see that in my first response I didn't even see the point of what you were suggesting. In the second I suggested an alternate solution (which Lojack also suggested) to what I thought was your problem, in my third I was still trying to understand why you had the last marker sorted first, and from that point forward I was trying to explain what the intention of the marker was originally, and why what you were doing was not what was intended.

I am fully open to the renaming, though I don't see the issue personally. As long as people understand that the "==LAST==" marker itself is a "header" and the word "last" refers to the packages below it, not to the marker itself.

Of course, it helps greatly that I was here through Wrye's creation of the BALO groups (though I missed the implementation of the full BAIN project) and knew how he tended to sort things.

I suspect that at the very least we'll get an expanded explanation of the purpose and use of the "==LAST==" marker and the group it represents.

last topic I asked about making edits and someone told me to send my edits to the main developers. The only problem was that some of my edits were going to include different methods of packaging (Removing dependencies altogether besides python itself). And some of them were going to be rather major edits (menubar, and other UI changes)

May I make a suggestion for renaming the ==Last== marker to ==Highest==

This would also help users get their heads around the install order which initially seems upside down until the light bulb switches on. Aswell as providing a last marker programatically it would also visually represent which end of the list of installers is going to be respected more overwriting lower ordered files.

Even for people who take time out to read the readmes' and follow links.. hypothetical situ' - if they have NO conflicting files to study what is overwriting what, they would logically think highest was top of the installers list not the bottom... Having ==Highest== down there would make that clearer.

Edit: LOL must be getting tired too, just realised if they had no conflicting files then the install order would not matter anyway :) Time for bed said Zebedee ( hmm maybe not many people remember him - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Magic_Roundabout )

"It" isn't anything. The files below it are the ones that are installed "last" (the ones that win any conflicts).

PacificMorrowind is the lead of the WB team at the moment. I'd suggest explaining your ideas to him and seeing whether they can go in the main package or not. If you can't agree, then a fork may be the only choice, but it's probably the least preferable.

Any name would be fine with me, as long as you remember that the name has to be included in the WB code itself, so it probably shouldn't be an entire sentence.

I doubt you'll get universal agreement on a name though. I mean, someone's gonna complain that the =Highest= tag is at the bottom of the list and should be =Lowest=.

My eye was really bothering me, and my brain has been kind of fried lately. I was seriously confused about that marker's purpose though. Anyway, thank you for clearing that up. Having the name changed to something less...misleading would be nice. Users, especially, new users tend to take those sorts of names (or instructions) literally. I am not an expert at getting into new user mod either, but I usually see it at the bottom when reviewing people's sorted package orders.

The updates look great guys! Thank you for upgrading the merge dialogue, don't know how many times I pointed out that mis-merge. I will finally be able to do real testing in about four days. I can't wait! ^___^

Thanks for all of your hard work!

I wouldn't be surprised to see the vast majority of people having the ==LAST== marker at the very end of their list. Unless you have a specific reason to do so, there's generally no need to move mods past it. Honestly, it's intended for people creating mods, or who have very unusual circumstances that require certain resources to never be replaced, not for common usage.

Yes. Plus, TESNexus Forums' code randomly color the contents, which is why I though TTItemsNpc had tags it does not have today (it was stinking purple, okay...) Everything is randomly purple or green, not good for checking Bash load orders...

Found out what Installer tab is for :D - took me 2 years.
Found where is the Order tab took me 2 days :D.
Found the drag and drop function :D took me 2 hours.
Found Drag N' Drop works with block of mods :D took me 2 minutes.

Conclusion: Blade of Mercy becomes sharper and sharper. At that rate will be second from the last in 2 more years.
Question: Guess what is Blade's favorite toy these days?

Credits:
I was so sorry when Wrye withdrew from action but you guys took it to new level. Now this bleeding game is pure science and pleasure :D

Wishful thinking... :hubbahubba:
I asked Wrye several times to add new function: 'Automatic Equip Corpses' based on a obscure mod with similar name.
Reason: When you finish looting a corpse (Gods, sometimes we sound macabre :D !) and put back clothes and armor you don't want in its inventory, corpse stays naked.
Kinda creepy. Thia mod (@Nexus) makes so that corpses are automatically equipped with the highest class armor/clothes/weapon in their inventory.
No more nekid dead wimin on your trail :D

Could I repeat this request as I see someone tinkers with the monkey's nuts already? :D

And of course: million thanks. Can you imagine our games with Wrye uninstalled? Brrrr...

It works just fine and does what it is meant to do, separate last from the rest.

[edit] i.e., I have Detailed Terrain Last, so there is *nothing* that overrides it. If I install something and activate, DT is safe plus all the others that are "last".

Now, another thing:

wrye bash has given me errors a couple times. I'm on Win7 x64 - is this ok?

Well, it handles pluggy already. It's a matter of counting the "pluggy dominance" as a "bug" so other OBSE mods can put files in Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins too. (whoops)

As it is right now, you have to hack it to allow OBSE plugins to be installed.

Request: Can the "List Mods" function be changed to include spoiler tags instead of codebox tags, since the forum now behaves differently?
Done two days ago by PacificMorrowind and committed to the SVN on sourceforge. Expect it in the next release. Sometimes the easy ones are just a matter of someone remembering to ask about it.

BTW, what about allowing OBSE plugins to be installed from BAIN?

That'd be sweet!

The only thing that could beat this development is shader editing support. On that day, I do not know where my head will be... :D

Lojack
Bash looks at your Oblivion.ini to find find the directory for screenshots. It's stored in SScreenshotBase. So you could change this to

SScreenshotBase=C:\pathtomyscreenshots\Screenshot

Also, added conversions to PNG,TIF,BMP for you.

Mine is SScreenshotBaseName=

Would someone be a sweetie and add this into the readme in the screenshots tab section. A useful piece of info that is not present.

Edit: And what quality is that converting to? 100%, 60%, 2% etc..?

Thanks.

Done two days ago by PacificMorrowind and committed to the SVN on sourceforge. Expect it in the next release. Sometimes the easy ones are just a matter of someone remembering to ask about it.

Sweet.

Mine is SScreenshotBaseName=

Would someone be a sweetie and add this into the readme in the screenshots tab section. A useful piece of info that is not present.

Edit: And what quality is that converting to? 100%, 60%, 2% etc..?

Thanks.

How in the world can Oblivion's screen shot tool do .png conversion? That is sweet. I will probably continue to use Fraps, but that is too awesome. Where is that post? The JPG conversion is simply not as good. I use Fraps for the .png. The quality is great, don't expect better.
