The last time I did reboot between the installations and when I was finished it shows a file size below 6500 Mb.

How can you explain that?

Checking it out, but I didn't reinstall. Backup. Delete. Normal usage
Dropping 290 again.

v 290 is the most stable one I've seen since v 287, so I would not recommend downgrading.

Did you try deleting that 4 kb file "pidfile.tmp" in your Oblivion/Mopy folder? That should fix this non-starting Wrye Bash problem - it is a known issue and a simple fix.

Nevermind having to reboot, why was it 15Gb to begin with?

Well that may be, but I wouldn't wish the ridiculous hurdles you have to go through with that on any casual player. When it becomes a one-click solution then that's a different story. TES4qLOD is enough of a pain in the ass that I won't even waste the time on it myself and I know how to set the thing up. It's not a user friendly procedure.

The CS may not be perfect, but it works. Though even that's not a user friendly solution. So I don't really think it's all that useful to throw skip option into BAIN for stuff like this. Those of us who know how to make CS texture quads can simply make patch files for the major players like we have been. You don't need to bother even with that much for smaller mods.

Sorry about coming on this release section and clogging it up with questions

I am going to get right to the point, no introductions, long explanations, anything like that.

I am a relatively experienced mod user, I use:

Wbash 2.90
All plugins, such as stutter remover, pluggy, and about 10 more needed by things such as concessionary violence and fearsome magica.

The reason I use more than one magic mod, is because each of the mods does significantly different things. I see no overriding interests.

THIS IS THE MAJOR ISSUE
I am having problems with oblivion freezing @ the loading bar at the start, after the usual routine. BOSS >> Mark Mergable >> select all applicable in bashed patch >> compile
THIS IS THE MAJOR ISSUE

So i reinstalled oblivion about 9 or 10 times, over some spare moments I have had. Installed the mods I want, installed every single update, OOO compatibility, etc etc. And many many mods still cause this freezing at loading issue. It seems most definitely connected to merging the bashed patch.

It seems problems with the loading-freezing happen with hentai mania, and hentai mania 2. If i completely uninstall the mod via bain, all the old meshes and such get restored, esp removed, boss>>mark mergable>>repeat. I am always aware of what mod adds what meshes and textures, and when something has the smallest chance of being overwritten, or uninstalled via bain, i always reinstall all the meshes/textures/music/menu/etc/ via bain. Or if it's an INI, just by getting the ini and putting it in the correct folder. (bain is getting better at this, but sometimes an ini needs to be put in a folder besides data/ini)

I read every readme, and only install the correct mods (as far as i am aware, obviously everyone has oversights)



But there are further issues, where the same issue occurs and It's hard to track down the freeze causing mod.

I can't help but think i should remove these while merging

Unnecessary Violence
Ssailing ships (due to scripting)
(when I have deadly reflex installed, and oblivion XP 4.17 or below installed, it causes it there)
Most OBSE Mods that automatically get required by bashed patch when merged, but don't have any merge options when rebuilding the patch.

Expanded Question:

Hentai Mania uses a lot of "repeat assets" seemingly from things like OOO, and idle anims, exem, etc. Plus the esp in TES4EDIT has 1000 or more conflicts with oblivion itself (just when i select hentai mania, and oblivion.esm, and only conflict inherited by parent.)

Could there be a esp/esm conflict. hentai mania, and hentai mania 2, both replace dungeons, so does OOO (what is odd however, is that they have worked in the past, perhaps wbash has just gotten better at merging, more merge features, therefore more room for overrides in unclean mods, or something, i don't know, im going crazy)


However, if i remove the hentai mania.esp's compile patch, enable mods. Sometimes it works.

This might mean that I should sacrifice hentai mania games to keep my fcom install compatibility free. And then work my way down the other mods I have and find what else might cause the continued freeze on load.


There are just a lot of factors to consider here. And not having oblivion load is in a sense worse than oblivion crashes due to wrongly installed meshes or esp conflicts. It's odd. In older versions of boss+wbash I have been able to merge hentai mania without issue. In fact the only thing that ever causes
any kind of freeze-on-loading before, was oblivion xp 4.15 + deadly reflex 5. But now, it seems most moderately scripted mods (which i really want for my full oblivion 2.0 experience) sailing ships, natural weather, (I think better cities is pretty safe actually), definately combat mods (i only ever use one, this week it's unnecessary violence, rather than deadly reflex 5 or 6, due to oblivion xp and deadly reflex being completely in hate with eachother)





Right now I'm having the freezing issue with hentai mania esps installed "AFTER" I compiled the patch, but there are further mods that are causing this. Narrowing them down is hard, because I always start off getting a working install, then it just happens, and i have to uninstall mods one by one. Test. Rebuild. Test. Rebuild. And sometimes i never get to the bottem of it, because it keeps happening as i carefully remove mods and restore the old data before the mod install via bain.

I'm not sure how to post a plain jane load order except with OBMM, but that does not show bash settings and such. So I guess the longer boss one will have to do. If someone cares to show me how to post a simplified load order, I will.

Also, what exactly is freezing at loading bar? Oblivion is loading assets as the load bar fills, and the more mods one has, the longer it takes to do the initial load. With faster hardware, this will decrease, but will not go away completely. I play with 253 mods (and 70 or so merged or bash merged), and it takes about 20-30 seconds for the game to load - and for reference, my hardware is first-grade high-end gaming (i7 930, 6gb , Win 7, Nvidia GTX 480, 80 GB SSD).

Very Sorry good sir. I shall do that right away. I am usually a silent mod user happily exploring away. So posting issues is new to me.

EDIT: Fixed. Thanks for that.

Unfortunately with me, the load bar freezes indefinitely. It's quite easy for me to tell when this happens, my processor is locked at 50%, memory being used about 50-300mb. It stays there forever.

I am not saying my pc is related by posting my specs, but I thought I might as well.

i7 860 (not oc during testing)
80GB SSD
Spinpoint F3 1TB
5870 (not oc)
4GB DDR3 RAM


Also, I would like to mention again. I have been using oblivion with FAR more mods than I have here, with FAR LESS, compatibility taken into consideration. And never has it constantly frozen on loading. There is naturally a delay, not long, the first time this happened, I left it for 45 minutes or so. It's most definitely freezing. And most definitely freezing due to my bash patch. If i disable ALL my mods right now, except oblivion esm, it loads. However, the "OP mentioned" issues combined with the extensive nature of Wbash and unfortunately, it's new revisions. Seem to causes this unfortunate event.

And again, Deadly Reflex, + Oblivion XP (older revision) causes this in the past. So it's definitely something that happens. I run two computers, different hardware. Oblivion plus the same mods installed on both, and the same issue happens on both pcs. (other pc, is a 8800GST+ Q6600)

I'm going to uninstall both hentai mania.esps completely now, plus all OBSE heavy mods. And check back, just to make sure it's one of these mods that seem to cause it.


Oblivion runs smoothly, when it does go past the load-freeze. Crashes are infrequent with the load order posted, assuming obviously, that it does not freeze. 60fps with OBGE 2.0 + Godrays + SSAO.




EDIT: AND PS:

When i disable all script heavy mods, just now, hentai mania, unnecessary violence, sailing ships, supreme magica, and patches, boss, mark mergable, recompile, it loads up.

Also, if i install JUST hentai mania 1 or 2, over the top of a already compiled patch, TOUCH NOTHING, load. It goes past the freeze. However, then when i reinstall all my game changing mods such as darn+oblivionxp+display stats+sailingships+and many many more. It all freezes again. And when i recompile the patch with JUST hentai mania installed, it freezes again, without all the extra content. As if this is definitely one of the contributing factors, but not that ONLY factor.

My sanity is at sake.


Also, there are some questions people might ask me, I am going to pre-answer them.

Q: Is it a menu's issue, you need to install darn THEN display stats for instance

A: I have installed everything in the right order. I check menu folders for correctness as well.

Q: Did you delete your oblivion INI file?

A: Yes, I backed up my old one, made sure archive invalidation was active, same issue.

Q: Are you insane yet?

A: Not quite yet.

Q: What operating system do you use.

A: Windows 7

Q: did you install all the original, then supplemental unofficial oblivion patches.

A: Yes, and in the correct order.

Q: Is it a hard drive issue.

A: Possibly. I have tried SSD, and normal HDD, same isssue. If it was the hdd, surely i would always have a loading issue. Rather than disabling the seemingly offending mods, and then getting the working loading.

Q: So what do you think it is?

A: I think it's a combination of Wbash (newer revision) and some mods not liking the act of being included in the bashedpatch.

Q: do you believe you have written enough.

A: Far too much. I will stop now. And hope someone says something brilliant to make me feel less pessimistic about all this.




..... Maybe what I should do is get a lower revision of Wbash, And work my way down.

To be honest blackspider, I have not read your 2 posts entirely. :) however I caught (I think) you disabled all mods (except for rudimentary kindergarden stuff) and it loaded. But did you try to disable a bunch only (not all) and see if keeps loading or not? Maybe you can narrow down to where/when the freeze is occurring? Sorry if I can't be of more assistance ATM, I'm not a modding god myself.

Re-read a bit of yours: You did quite a bit of swapping in and out already. Maybe it IS just a damn incompatibility of some mod with another mod? Like bad Karma?

Re-read a bit of yours: You did quite a bit of swapping in and out already. Maybe it IS just a damn incompatibility of some mod with another mod? Like bad Karma?


I totally get why only read a bit. Hell, I would probably do the same. I wrote a lot.

Yeah, that's what I have been doing, still doing now, I'm just kind of hoping someone notices something I have not ----- AS i do it. (remove, test, remove, test)

Maybe if someone else has found similar issues with a mod, or has found a certain type of mod causes the freezes on startup, or something. I mean, who knows, the more sets of eyes the better right?.

Bad karma is damn right.

Hentai Mania uses a lot of "repeat assets" seemingly from things like OOO, and idle anims, exem, etc. Plus the esp in TES4EDIT has 1000 or more conflicts with oblivion itself (just when i select hentai mania, and oblivion.esm, and only conflict inherited by parent.)

Could there be a esp/esm conflict. hentai mania, and hentai mania 2, both replace dungeons, so does OOO (what is odd however, is that they have worked in the past, perhaps wbash has just gotten better at merging, more merge features, therefore more room for overrides in unclean mods, or something, i don't know, im going crazy)

However, if i remove the hentai mania.esp's compile patch, enable mods. Sometimes it works.


IIRC Hentaimania2 is a re-write of Hentaimania, includes 5 of the original Hentaimania dungeons plus 2 new ones and work done on de-conflicting with other mods.

So should they be used together?, could be your problem.

I have had Hentaimania installed in the past briefly, no problems re-building a bashed patch or game loading. But have not tried 2.

I think this would have been better in its own topic instead of hijacking Wrye bash thread.

There is a small element of relevance however. I just installed 275. And that seems to work . With all the same settings.

As for hentai mania, I have tried clean installs with either of these mods installed solo without any hint of the other being used. And both still caued freezes.

Now I'm going to go one up 287 I believe.

I need to see where this actually starts for me.

(if this does end up being the case, then perhaps me posting here might have relevance I did not expect)

If I understand correctly, you want to use the "Open at TesAlliance" feature. To do this manually append the archive name with the package id from the url

eg DarknessHollows-659.7z

There used to be a way to specify that new mods went into an "ungrouped" or "none" group just before Last, then you'd assign a group and they'd be moved to the end of that list - that was really handy.

Maybe not exactly the answer your looking for but a solution, nonetheless.

If you use BOSS (why would you not?) then you can create a custom Userlist to specify where any mod is placed. It has functions such as ADD and OVERRIDE and other grouping commands. Check it out.

I'm getting a curious error with 290. Up until today, I had no problem right-clicking my Bashed Patch, then clicking "read me" to get a list of my loading order. As of this morning, though, when I do this, here's what I get:

I have a similar issue with the latest Wrye version and my ROM mod. I added a master to the mod file. I rebuilt the patch. Started game, loading bar freese (maybe at 1%). I put the original esp and it loads fine. So now I swap the esp files for whether I build the patch or not.

I have not tried this with an earlier version of Wrye.

I had something odd happen to me earlier when trying to uninstall a mod via BAIN. The mod replaced footstep sounds, so was only .wav files, however, when bain tried to remove these files is was denied access! I found this very odd because 1) I'm on winXP, and 2) have no security issues and 3) BAIN otherwise behaves immpecably.
I guess the file type was the issue, and as these were the only files the od installed I just deleted the folder and the mod, job done. BUT, I'm wondering how this came about. My Oblivion/Fallout setup is a separate HD with just windows, the games and their utilities and a defrager, nothing else. No internet so no anti-virus etc. I've not even set win media player up, but then maybe this is the problem? Odd :brokencomputer:

Apparently you are missing the comtypes component. Did you install WryePython03a?

Likely one or more of the wav files are marked as read-only. It's not a security issue.
The read-only issue is fixed for v291.

The exactly same thing (read only) has happen with Wrye Mash for Morrowind, I'm quite sure that Melchor really want to know how to fix it.

Yes, I did, here, as recommended:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\Wrye Python

Yet it still instill there's no comtypes component. I just tried uninstalling and reinstalling it: same result.

Just noticed it's pointing at my Python26 directory, instead of Python27. I wonder if that matters?

PS: No, it doesn't.
