Wrye Bash Why Question?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:38 pm

I have a Wrye Bash question...

I have recently realized that the merged files in Wrye Bash are colored green, and I can uncheck them in OBMM so they don't load twice. I've had no problems with this with graphics types of things (Better Wine, TNR races, etc.)

However, I did have problems unchecking in OBMM this mod - Better Gem Prices. It reprices my gems to be nicely priced (pearls are 250 and above, more realistic to me than a stupid 2 gold). Anyway when I uncheck this particular mod in OBMM, even though it's green in WB, the gem prices reset to the Vanilla price. I had to check it again in OBMM in order for it to work again.

Why is this?

Because OBMM doesn't compile a patch that merges data from various mods, as Wrye Bash does with its Patched Bash. Both tools are great, but each has its areas of specialization.

More specifically, when you rebuild your bashed patch in Wrye Bash, you should be able to choose that mod in the "merge patches" section.

Once that's done, you'll be able to untick it in Wrye Bash and it will change to a [+] instead of a checkmark.

At that point, it should already be unchecked in OBMM.

If using Wrye Bash and the bashed patch, it's probably a bad idea to use OBMM to activate/deactivate the individual mods because it doesn't have the ability to see WB specific features.

Use OBMM for installing/uninstalling OMODs, and for BSA browsing, but use Wrye Bash for load order decisions.

OK Thanks I'll look into this and post back. I actually am still having problems with it not recognizing the gem prices I want. I think I need to poke around with the load order in WB rather than OBMM as showler said.

Ah got it! The problem was I didn't check the mod under Rebuild Bashed Patch/Merged Patches/Better Gem Pricing. It works now and I have a + sign in the mod in WB as I should.

I don't have most things checked marked under there. I guess I should huh?

There are a lot of page, so that is not surprising. I am trying to do a better job of adding relevant pages to the "Related Pages" and "Related Resources" sections. They will probably never be perfect throughout the site. I forget about the existence of certain pages and content on the site all of the time.
