[RELZ] Wrye Mash #4

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 12:40 pm

Due to some hardware chicanery, the C: drive has been taken up by a card reader. Also, the target for the mash shortcut is %SYSTEMDRIVE%\Python25\pythonw.exe mash.py, which doesn't care which drive is used. I changed the drive to specifically E:, but it still won't work.
I seemed to fix it by putting a card into the card reader. Either python or mash must use C: for temporary file storage.

I can't get Wrye mash to work at all. I know absolutely nothing about Python so help would be much appreciated.

Got the following error message:

Traceback (most recent call last): File "mash.py", line 7, in import masher File "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Mopy\masher.py", line 43,in import wx.lib.iewin File "C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages\wx-2.8-msw-ansi\wx\lib\iewin.py", line 15, in import wx.lib.activex File "C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages\wx-2.8-msw-ansi\wx\lib\activex.py", line 36, in import comtypesImportError: No module named comtypes

Weird, I thought Python 2.5 did include comtypes. Anyway, download and install it from http://sourceforge.net/projects/comtypes/.

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this but I'm trying to clean a save game that CTD's as soon as it loads. It has something to do with IndyBank 2.4a by Kir, but I can't seem to clean the plugin or my saved game since apparently they are already. Anyone have any suggestions? I really don't want to lose my save since a bit of time has gone into it and I don't have a backup (stupidly).

Did you try disabling IndyBank from your list?
What does your Warning.txt say?

I did, it does the same thing. The Warning.txt file says this;

Unable to locate reference for global script 'BankInterest'.
Unable to locate reference for global script 'PCJail'.

Not sure how much cash you've got in the bank but...

Make a copy of the save
With the copy, remove Indy Bank from your load list.
Clean save with Mash (sync to masters, repair refs, yadda yadda)
Load cleaned save in game.
Save as a new save game.
Re-enable Indy Bank
Freshen up new save game with Mash (sync to masters, repair refs, etcetera)
Load up new save game.

Should mean a usable save, but you'll lose anything you've got in the bank.

You can view the cache site while the real one is down:
http://74.125.155.132/search?q=cache:-DH2t1fDVzkJ:wrye.ufrealms.net/Wrye%2520Mash.html+Mopy/Wrye+Mash.html&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk

Links wont work, treat it like a text document.

AzuMite, Pluto, thanks!

[Edit] BTW, as I read that file I felt my eyes start to roll back in my head...much as they did when I was trying to learn to use Wrye Bash. Somehow I managed to use 200 mods in OB without using Wrye Bash, though eventually I think I used it a little.

Yes, you can for your Saves.
Go to the Save tab, click on 'File' in the bottom right-hand corner box where it lists the Save's Masters. Click 'Copy List'
Open your notepad, wordpad or whatever, and Paste it.

Ah, yes, that's it! I knew it could be done, but couldn't remember how and, with UFRealms down, couldn't look it up on Wrye's site. Thanks, Pluto. :) I've got the Sable Dragon set up for my new game, so thanks for that, too. :goodjob:

I hope someone can help me with this.

I can't get Wrye Mash to run. It worked perfectly until yesterday, when suddenly I can't launch it anymore. I haven't installed anything recently, except reinstalling wrye mash to no avail.

On another topic, I'm confused about Bain. The readme describes most of the "wrong" colors but gives little or no info on how to correct the problems. It sounds like I would have to re-assemble the downloaded archives myself as there seems to be no way to tell Bain "the Data Files folder is *here* and the Readme is *here*" (and so forth). Also, it did no Doc File Sweeping or renaming whatsoever, and there seems to be no way to tell it: "OK, I renamed the txt file for you and this is the new name."

That's really very little to go on, unfortunately. Have you looked at Morrowind/Mopy/Wrye Mash.html?
If Mash Won't Start
? If Mash refuses to start, or quits after quickly flashing up a window...
? Check your Mash Shortcut
? Most users who have problems with Mash simply need to tweak the Start In and/or Target fields of the shortcut. (See Non-Standard Morrowind/Python Directories for more info.)
? If that's fine, then there may be a bug with Mash, or a problem with your setup. You can usually figure out the problem by creating a bug dump and reviewing it. And if you can't puzzle it out, someone on the Elder Scrolls forums may be able to help.

? Getting the Bugdump
? Open a command shell (Start: Programs: Accessories: Command Prompt).
? chdir to the Mopy directory. "chdir" means "change directory". E.g.: chdir C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Mopy
? Type: c:\python24\python.exe mash.py 0
? If you have a different version/location of python, adapt the first argument accordingly.
? That's the number zero at the end, not the letter 'o'.

? Doing this will cause any error messages that Mash generates on start to spew to the command shell. This is the bugdump.
? Dealing with the Bugdump
? First, look at it! ? especially the last several lines ? this will often give you a good clue as to what the problem is, and you may be able to resolve it on your own.
? Common Problems
? Can't find mash.py: Make sure that you chdir to the Mopy directory first.

? If that doesn't help, then go to the forums and post the whole bugdump. Preferably, you should post the dump in the Relz/Help topic (see Discussion link at top of page) or you can start a new topic. Be sure to mention "Wrye Mash" in the text of the post.
? Hint: Control-C does not work in the command line window, but you can still copy text from it by selecting the text, and then hitting the Enter key.
See if you can at least get the bugdump. That'll give us something to go on.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that. This is the bugdump:

Traceback (most recent call last): File "d:\morrowind\mopy\mash.py", line 7, in <module>	import masher File "D:\Morrowind\Mopy\masher.py", line 460, in <module>	'off.green': Image(r'images/checkbox_green_off.png',wx.BITMAP_TYPE_PNG), File "D:\Morrowind\Mopy\balt.py", line 132, in __init__	raise ArgumentError(_("Missing resource file: %s.") % (self.file,))bolt.ArgumentError: Missing resource file: bolt.Path('images\\checkbox_green_off.png').

I've looked and the image file checkbox_green_off.png is not missing.

Weird.

Is there an Images folder in Mopy? With that checkbox graphic in? If not, back up anything from the Mopy directory you need and then delete. Re-extract from the Wrye Mash archive double-checking that "Use folder paths" is enabled.

Alternatively, maybe the Mopy\Settings.pkl file has gotten corrupted. Try renaming it to settings.old and re-running Mash.

It was indeed the settings file that has become corrupted somehow. Thanks for the help.

What's up with Wrye's web page, it won't load? :-/

I'm going to use Google's cache, but it's a bit tedious having to google everything in order to get there since the links don't work...
