I just got my game, and it's taking well over an hour to download?!

I thought steam was just to unlock game to play!

...and now I'm reading posts below, windows 7 64bit is having issues huh, this game just came out shouldn't be running just fine

Steam is for downloading the entire game to your pc. Games are very large so yeah they will take a good amount of time to download.

did you buy the download version or did you buy the box? The box is the download version on a disc so you don't have to download it! Perhaps you are doing something out of order and it thinks it should be downloading it when instead it should be copying the data off the disc.

Relying on a poor memory I believe I read turning Steam to offline mode will make it install it from the disk not download it.

It was mentioned here somewhere I just don't remember where at the moment. I'll post a link if I find it and it was something else.

See this to delete local cache so Steam will use the DVD instead

You can also use the Steam backup/restore function. The NV DVD is really a repackaged steam backup, and steam will restore it as such.

This is how I installed my copy. No download required!

New to computers? I never had an issue like this before downloading from a disk I purchased. New to steam ya.

Anyway, thanks CCNA! That worked now installing from disk.
