well i got it working now just bareley... quite buggy and im scared to pull my trigger becuase i dont want to kill the quest... its allready happend 5+ times where i've shot a guy to early and then the HOLE quest stoped and everyone attacked me AGAIN
sigh...

and this is how i got it working and hope it helps other people:

its still abit buggy just wait to everyone dies and then kill who attacks you

Then cross the bridge and DO NOT KILL THE GUY ON THE ROCK] and if he attacks you run back over the bridge and go back to the start of the area where you got attacked then cross the bridge again and he should not attack you and dont attack ANYONE that doesnt attack you or the hold quest for the dlc is TOAST ok?

There is a scripted event where Follows-chalk will sneak up on and kill a member of the white legs after you cross the bridge. If you hit him you fail the quest.

This is correct. If you happen to kill Follows, reload to your most recent save game.

... Anyone knows what happens if you kill the Happy Trails caravan before the DLC?
.... I'm so trying it out right now :teehee:

[edit]

Didn't work, the NPC's don't register damage. (No essential, no failed quest, you simply cannot harm them, shooting them is as effective as it is to shoot the ground.)

Oh, I took it as you being disappointed with the whole 10 minute fiasco. Sorry.

I'm in a very sarcastic mood.

Yeah, Im mostly in it for assets. I still play though DLCs, but am much more excited about messing with the files. Its my thing. =P

I did the same thing, I wasn't prepared to fight, only went in with a puny gun, so my whole party got killed, then I went across the bridge and there were two guys that looked the same as the rest i'd just killed so I started shooting them both... turns out one of them is the guy I'm sposed to see. Guess I'll just restart the whole thing, not really too big a loss, about 10 mins time.

Am I the only one a little shocked at the helplessness!? I mean, as soon as I saw quest failed, I used very basic deduction to determine one of the people I had just killed was a friendly. People need to think before crying "BUG, UNPLAYABLE, svckS!" That being said, I understand mental blocks/brain farts/mistakes, and don't directly hold anyone in this thread at fault.

I personally am about an hour in and loving it, .45 Auto Pistol is beautiful

This a common sense thing that makes you go "wow, did they even test this?" "do they not know the average joe is an idiot?"

There will probably be a patch to fix this after 50% of the purchasers make a complaint.

This is such poor design *facepalm

Yeah I did this too one time then noticed that one of the guys killed the other the next time through. Since I packed the marksman carbine with AP ammo for this quest so I generally sneak and one shot the heads off of everyone, this time I killed someone important about a two minutes in and had to reload but I learned from that mistake.

You might have shot during the scripted sequence, apparently this is a frequent user side error occuring. But to be fair, if you have an itchy trigger finger, it's bound to happen. Next time, just remember that the death of the Caravan at the beginning is scripted. Meaning you DO NOT want to mess with it, it will play out on it's own.

Wait is the caravan that gets attacked one I m suppose to protect?

Just tell me. I m getting mixed signals in this thread. I shoot red tick marks. I won t shoot green tick marks at the begining of a dlc.

Now if I shoot red tick marks and this happens to me I ll be pissed.

Alright but I'll put it in spoilers read at your own risk.

Spoiler
When you start your DLC you'll be inside a canyon, your caravan will be talking and walking around then will be ambushed and killed, this is scripted so don't worry about saving them. Kill all of the tribals in the immediate area and then you'll see a rope bridge, when you cross it do not shoot the sniper on the rocks slightly to your left instead wait on him to be killed in a scripted event. Walk up and the tribal who killed your would be attacker will speak to you and begin the storyline.

i think they just need to alter that bridge part slightly, which would at least address that people generally shoot at what's attacking them.
