well its been awhile since i played oblivion, on my slim 360 250gig...i have the version without the DLC disc, but i downloaded all content from xbox live, anyway i went to start a new character...got all the way to the first set of rusty armor in the caves, i picked it up, went to put it on locked up, reset xbox....got to the first leather armor, were you pick up the bow, and tried puting it on...but it shows some black mass looking like a shirt...so i went back to the metal armor picked it up, and saved, then tried to put it on again, locked up,reloaded save after resetting and tried to drop the metal armor..locked up....pulled disc from tray and went back to black ops.....you would figure that after how many years....bethesda would have figured out how to make a game...but i guess not

Perhaps you might consider the possibility that the disk is damaged?

How does the disk look?

Try clearing the hard drive cache, there may be some corrupted data in there.

If that isn't the case, then the only possible cause of this problem if the disc is reasonably undamaged on the consoles are disc access errors when the console scans the disc to retrieve the resource files (the symptoms you describe are characteristic of missing resources), which would mean your Xbox 360's laser is either faulty or dying. Unless you installed the game to your hard drive, in which case this would be caused by a broken installation.

Simple version: if the HDD cache cleanup fails, you are going to need to test your game on another console. From there, there will be two outcomes:

1. The game behaves the same way. If this is the case, then your disc really is damaged and you are going to need to buy a new copy of the game.

2. It behaves fine. If this is the case, the problem lies with your console. If you installed the game to your hard drive, uninstall it and try again. If not, the problem is hardware related.
