WW2 Armor?

Post » Sat Aug 06, 2011 6:02 am

I know we've been getting a lot of ww2 weapons which I like a lot. However don't you think it'd be cool if we could have WW2 G.I. armour?

Soldiers really didn't have armor in WW2. They wore fatigues and a helmet and that's basically it.

The only "armor" I can think of from WW2 (not counting the mechanized kind) are the flack jackets worn by bomber crews.

Actually, there was something like a body armor back in WW2. Soviet Engineers wore it to be exact.

It completely agree with the author of a theme!
Moreover, in game, personally for me and on my taste, very much there is no mix Roving trader outfit + Combat armor. I mean appearance of suits.
Dear developers, add please.

P.S I Apologize, I write through the translator.

Lol, no.
There's already comabat armour, they didn't have anything special during WW2, it was just plain ol' real time gear, like helmets and stuff like flak jackets and boots. It looked very boring.
If you really want WW2 armour just wear combat armour.

Combat or Body armor was rare in WWII. Few troops on the ground were issued it, and few of them wore it as they felt being mobile and agile was better protection. Most of what was worn was Flak Jackets by Pilots and Aircrews.

Oh, I'm sure a lot of bomber crews came back who never would have otherwise. It was never meant to stop bullets, though. Just shrapnel.

They are based of of WWI British uniforms. The look is also very different from a American WWII uniform.

From all my reading if a plane is going to get shot down it's going to get shot down. Made a difference for very few most likely.

A lot of those bombers came back looking like swiss cheese, though. AA fire, or flak, was set to go off at given altitudes, throwing shrapnel in every direction, so that a direct hit was not necessary. The bombers often got riddled with holes from it. And even though the planes made it back, they crews suffered a lot of casualties. Flak vests reduced those casualties.

The armor in Captain America movie is pretty fitting. In different colors, of course, not red/white/blue.

Well NCR armor is based off the gough boy outfits of WW 1 so you get something kinda close, WW 2 you'd end up with fatigues and a helmet no real armor I guess you could always through in a chest plate but I really don't see what need it would fill, simply throwing in everything everyone likes would make for a poor game.
