I'll tell you the characterisics and i'll also tell you why it would be great! Vehicles are unevitable in mods and this is one vehicle you will want more than a vertibird.
1) First person cockpit view. Can free-look possibly whilst flying. Third person too.
2) Requires space to take off and land.
This means landing will be difficult and will take skill to land in crowded areas. Perfectly justifiable now to build runways at settlements to make it easier to access.
3) Weapons. Bullets for machine gun and fat man nukes as bombs
4 Limited Payload! Can store munitons in plane but there is a max limit of bombs and bullets meaning you will have to land at settlements to resupply occasionally.
5) Fuel! Gas is obsolete after nuclear power therefore the Corsair has been adapted with a fusion core powered engine. Requires Cores but depletes them quicker than power armour. Will also glide to a halt if runs low.
6) Fuel can only be carried in limited amounts too in plane. Cannot be transferred from inventory in flight either so plan your resources. If need be land to refuel using inventory cores.
7) Fully destructable and collision can destroy it
8) fully mobile. Do aerobatics and aerial assaults. Dogfight vertibirds and cause mayhem.
9) craft and equippable one time use parachute.
why??
The answer is simple. Why not?
I think it would fit well in the game. Especially with you needing to plan resources for flights, the ability for it to be shot down, requirement for repairs etc not to mention that it requires spave to land and take off. It offers the perfect solution for travel without making it too easy.
Want to get in Boston commons? Tough luck, land near it and walk unless you are like a ridiculously skilled pilot. Getting shot at need to get away? Your plane is clumsy on land, you are taking fire badly and you arent fast enough to take off..now your plane is smoking are you going to make it!!!?? You pick up just enough speed to take off with a sigh of relief. Then zero in on them with mechine guns from the air and a fat man bomb for their failure.
Bethesda makes great games on the land. To have such a filled world below who wouldnt want to fly?
