Wyre Bash wont launch tried all listed fixes

Post » Sun Feb 20, 2011 12:58 pm

I'm having trouble installing wyre bash. I followed the instructions plus about a dozen guides on how to install it and I think I got it all right. But when I try to launch it nothing happens. Ive been reading forums and trying different fixes for 6 hours and nothing seems to work. I just recently returned to playing Oblivion and Ive done a few mods in the past but I finally decided to give FCOM a try and started to install it.

I haven't been able to get this to work ans I'm not even sure what to tell you to help me but I really need some advice.
Thanks

What operating system are you currently running?

And by your first post can I assume you installed Python and it's libraries correctly?

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm running win 7

I installed python 03a then bash 275 installer followed by the updated 288 files.

I'd avoid 288 right now and stick with 287 Read the bash thread for why.

Bash won't start without the oblivion.esm in the data folder - long shot but worth mentioning.

Thanks for the tip... I read the thread and tried 287 with the same results unfortunately. I dont think that was the problem.

oblivion.esm is present in the data folder.

Try not install python 03a but Python 2.5.4 and wxpython 2.8.7.1 ansi manually (Reference: http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1114316-relz-wrye-bash-thread-50) .
I do have a experience that new version/64-bit version of Python+ wxpython did not work for me even I am running Win7 64-bit.
So just have a try of installing Python 2.5.4 and wxpython 2.8.7.1 ansi 32-bit version no matter you are running 64-bit OS.

Make sure you have the full new installer. Old installs would not install a certain python file.

Double checkhttp://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=wrye_bash.

Thanks for all the help.

Ive tried all the suggested fixes but it still doesnt seem to be working. I have another question for you. My roomate downloaded a torrent that seems to have all the FCOM mods already set up in the manager. He didnt have to use wyre bash or set up any list orders. I was sceptical but he hasnt come across and errors or problems. Is this just an easier way to get fcom running.

Im all for doing it the intended way but But i cant even get the wyre bash running haha... and I know ive done it correctly the directions are fairly straight forward it must be something conflicting with it.

Thanks for any ideas on what i should do.

Have you tried creating a batch file to launch Wrye Bash? Some people (like me) have to use one. Just open Notepad, type in the following (alter it to point to wherever you've got it stored):

C:\Python26\pythonw.exe "E:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Mopy\Wrye Bash Launcher.pyw"

then save as "whatever.bat" (I named mine Launcher.bat).

Thanks for the tip walker but it didnt help. I'm going to try one last thing before I abandon this. Im going to install oblivion into a different area not in the program files folder and see if that helps.

I would not trust the torrent file (which has been uploaded without the permission of the FCOM team to begin with.

I can't imagine how FCOM will work without a bashed patch either, unless that comes as a part of the torrent package (with the bashed patch already included).

BTW, FCOM is also updated (Warcry and MMM were recently updated to have BSAs) - unless that torrent has the latest, you'll not be getting the latest and greatest versions...

Thanks again for all the help everyone. I followed several of the suggested fixes here and installed everything in its own location which seems to have worked I can open the launcher now. I had to use the 287 file with python 02 version.
