Thieves Guild quest line - Mission 5 - scoundrel's folly

Bug/Glitch:
For a part of the quest, you have to shadow Gulum-Ei and stalk him to the EETC (East Empire Trading Company) warehouse on the docks underneath and beside of solitude. The problem is that he sometimes completely disappears from the game and you can then not follow him and complete the quest. The compass marker points to the warehouse, but once inside it points nowhere and he is nowhere to be found. I used the spell named Clairvoyance in the warehouse but it said there is no clear path. I looked at YouTube guides and they show Gulum-Ei should be there and you follow him into a cave where you then kill bandits and then confront him.

Possible fix:
This glitch happened to a lot of 360 users and have tried multiple ways of fixing this glitch (even trying to fall underneath the map and finding Gulum-Ei in the river next to Solitude (I tried this method with no success)). This glitch seems to happen mostly when Gulum-Ei exits Solitude through the main gates or when he enters the EETC main door. After that he vanishes from the game and you can not complete the mission. I have tried all possible ways of restarting the area to get Gulum-Ei back, but none have been successful.

add giants toe to unremovable "quest items", believe I got it through the thieves guild along with alto wine which I can't f'ing drop or use!

Shield Charge bug:

Similar to the PC version the shoeld charge stops working after awhile.

FORBIDDEN LEGEND quests doesn't advance or acknowledge after receiving the third amulet fragment while doing the UNDER SAARTHAL quest.
Hagraven Petra does not have her eye in inventory after killing her, unable to complete the miscellaneous quest involving the caged hagraven.

If you complete the "A Night to Remember" Daedric Quest the Giant Toe and Alto Wine should then be removable.

I had this happen to me, since I had no idea were I was supposed to go I looked up the quest on youtube and it worked when I went to the place and it finished the quest even though it did not prompt me to go there. Go to Reachwater Cave (behind the waterfall) and continue the quest, it worked for me so I imagine it will work for you.

I'm debating on if I should start a new game, as I cannot go into Markarth because the Guards are all over me and I cannot get the next quest after "Loud and Clear" Thieves guild questline to load it tells me to talk to Maveen or whatever her name is but the quest doesn't show up in the log and when I find her all she does is yell at me. Hmmmm??????

While working for the Imperial Legion, after intercepting the Stormcloak Courier and dropping the forged documents off with the Stormcloak general, I go back to Legate Rikke and the quest is completed. I come to find out that assaulting Fort Dunstad is my next mission, but I cannot get Legate Rikke to activate this new mission even though the quest arrow looms directly over her head, egging me on to speak with her. I tried fast travelling then returning, waiting 24 & 48 hours then trying again....etc, nothing helps. Reloading a save from 2 in-game weeks prior did not help either. I think one of the biggest issues with Skyrim is the potential sabotaging of quests before you begin them, We have this awesome open world game, but you come to find out that the more open world exploring you do, the more buggy potential quests down the line will be. Bethesda needs to give a patch that allows the game to reset locations or chests needed to complete quests, even if the player randomly visits those locales, empties the quest chest, or kills the bandit leader before the quest is actually activated. In the case of Fort Dunstad, you almost HAVE to walk by it in order to get to the northern coast of the Ghost Sea...seems likely that many players will attack the bandits within and or kill some/all of them. That shouldn't mean that the quest line is ruined...:-(

Another graphicl bug.

The "beacons" outside of the college of Winterhold arent lit. They dont have the blue pillar of light. Originally they were lit when first crossing the bridge and the woman cast magic at them. The only one lit is in the courtyard by the statue.

Not re-spawning and/or clearing flora/fauna/ore and NPC's

Our understanding is that it takes 720hrs (30 days) for cells to reset.
TES4 was 72hrs and it was advisable to wait 73hrs to be safe.
Therefore, waiting 31 days before revisiting an area should do the trick.
It does...and it doesn't. It's hit or miss and there is neither rhyme nor reason to locations.

1. Some, not all, ore veins will reset.
(tested and observed in both Emershard and Darkwater, as well as surrounding Whiterun tundra)
2. Some creature spawn points will respawn, yet the previously killed creature's corpse lies nearby on the road.
(observed just North of Shor Watchtower and on tundra around Whiterun)

This is not good and will, over time, surely lead to save-game bloat.

Downloaded 1.2, tried killing a few different dragons tons of times and at the last hit they would freak out and waste me. A little frustrating. Finally killed one. Game froze. Reset xbox. Xbox won't read my 200g hard drive and wants me to FORMAT. All my recurring games like mass effect are saved, or were saved, on that hard drive. I love skyrim but I wouldn't trade freaking 200 gigs of memory for it. I can't say skyrim did it but nothing else makes sense... Corrupt file? Regardless I'm furious PLEASE HELP.

If the Helm of Winterhold quest sends you to Yngol Barrow a Draugr spawns at the end wearing the Helm of Yngol instead of the spirit spawning and the helm being on the skeleton on the throne. If this happens you are unable to get the Helm of Yngol and clear the dungeon.

Alright, I searched and didn't find this problem:

Went to Arngier to get a Word Wall location and was sent to Falkreath Ruins (the wall near Meridia's shrine). When I went there, the word absorbing animation wouldn't begin. There were faint blue lines, and the sound, but no matter how close, it wouldn't let me absorb the word. I tried sleeping, entering different buildings, leaving the location, waiting for several days, and all combinations of those. What I ended up having to do to get the word to activate was reload a previous save about 6 or 7 times.

Also the orc in the mage's college that sends you to retrieve a rare book (in my case "The Wild Elves"), if you already have the book in your possession when you start the quest the game wont recognize that you have it already and you are unable to complete the quest.

Houses: House in Solitude is unattainable when I completed the Bard's College effigy quest first. There is no option to buy the house from the Jarl or the steward, and the prerequisite quests are not available either.

Monsters: Krosis - I killed the dragon at shearpoint, and then obtained my Trow Voice words, but ran away then krosis spawned, upon returning to shearpoint, the word wall makes the sounds as if I didn't obtain the word, and krosis doesnt appear, but the grave is still sealed.

Soul gems I've filled myself, as opposed to vender bought or loot, come up empty after being stored in Whiterun house.

This may be part of the follower not leveling up glitch, or it could be a seperate issues, I am not sure: I cannot get higher level spells for mage follower Brelyna Maryon, or Brelyna does not learn or acquire spells appropriate for leveling up into Adept, Expert, etc. I purchase the spells, learn them, and have tried giving her the spell tomes. Nothing. I'm at 34 level now, and already casting higher level spells than her and I am not a magic focused character. I acquired Brelyna as a follower at 18 level. Brelyna otherwise seems competent level wise, in sneak, etc.

Brelyna Maryon runs away from a threat when approaching a dungeon area and will not come back until threat is killed. This must a glitch because she says "I've got your back" if you go back to her and talk. I hope this is a glitch, not character programming! It is very out of character for her. For example: sneaking towards a Foresworn encampment, Brelyna fled a good distance from a lone patrolling Forsworn who was not aware of us. She came back only after I killed that guard. Otherwise she charges into batlle like a madwoman.

I tried to get rearrange my books in Breezehome and I picked ul the books. They was in my inventory, bit also still on the shelf. I could not interact with the books if I tried touch them again. I also could not access another bookshelf at all.

I find this to be very irritating, as I am always an avid book collector in these games. I cannot display them on a shelf and I can never rearrange or alter anything on the shelf ever. It's just stupid...

When searching containers inventories and equiping and unequiping armor and weapons all cause a about 10 second pause for me each time I do it.

After being hit with a lightening bolt spell, my character can barely move. (like she's carrying too much weight). Pressing 'B' and going into the menu fixes it, but it's pretty annoying when you're in the middle of a fight.

My heavy armor is registering as Light Armor. I've equpied Daedric Armor (epic) and Falnor enemies are 1-2-3 shot killing me. Everytime they hit me, it says "Light Armor Increased". I went into my magic menu, because I enchanted the armor with 25% magicka regen, and its not showing there at all, letting me know the game definitely isnt recognizing my heavy armor. Please include this in the 1.3 patch.

Received 1st Word of Elemental Fury from outside shrine near Kilkreath Ruins. Now I cannot receive the other 2 words for this shout; Dragontooth Crater word wall, Shriekwind Bastion word wall.
I can however still receive other words from other word walls without incident.

Audio is present when approaching wall, however no 'word' is glowing & word is not received.

Please add this to the list - I mentioned it earlier in this thread but I guess it was looked over.

Picking up items are playing the wrong sound file more than half of the time - For example, I pick up a potion or arrow, it plays the audio of picking up clothes or a misc. object. This also extends to weapons and picking alchemy ingredients. This seems to occur with or without the latest patch (1.2). I have cleared my hard drive cache multiple times as well as starting a new game, but the bug is still present.

It's a minor annoyance for sure, but I hate how inconsistent the sounds are when half the time I'm picking crap up. This bug did not occur until very late in my first saved game.

On a side note: The correct sound file will sometimes play if you pick up two or more like items. For example - 2 potions on a table. Picking up the 1st potion plays the wrong sound, while picking up the 2nd soon after will play the correct sound.
