Companion quest bug:

in the mission "Glory of the Dead"

on the objective "Meet the Circle", I met the Companions in the Underforge and listened to them for a moment before walking too far down the righthand path and exiting the cave into Skyrim.

upon reentering the Underforge, the Companions are now standing silently and labeled as "busy" and the quest will not continue.

This is sort of in the OP already, but just in case my situation is at all different here are two problems I've been having.

(I have only confirmed these in my Markarth house):

1. The mannequin moves a bit backwards after every interaction with it. May eventually clip into the wall, but I've been too afraid to test it that far.

2. Bookshelves are broken. It seems that they can be interacted with TWICE. The first time, everything will work normally. The second time, books may be added or taken. However, the shelf will not change in appearance and you can no longer interact with that shelf.

Locations > General > -Skuldafn: Rings on puzzle door may not turn making it impossible to pass, part of the main quest "The World-Eater's Eyrie"

I'd like to add to this bug because at first this problem occurred and then I left the dungeon, came back an the rings turned but even after putting the correct combination in and using the Diamond Claw the door won't open. =(

Textures
Since installing the 1.2 patch, I now have full-res very clear, crisp and amazing textures, however I have noticed that the draw distance is very low and abrupt, in comparison to the previous game version. On 1.2 the texture issue is fixed, but textures and landscapes are loading very late and very abruptly, meaning that trees, grass, buildings ect are appearing very late (I have to be withing 200m for them to appear) and distant land is also refreshing very late, meaning the grass and trees are staying low res until I get pretty close, and also the loading of higher res textures of landscapes ect is very abrupt, not smooth like it was previously. I am very happy that the texture issue is now fixed, but it seems to me that I have swapped out average textures and an awesome draw distance for awesome textures and a pathetic draw distance.
I have deleted it off the HD, cleared the cache and reinstalled to the HD and even tried off the disc and the issue remained. Is anyone else have draw distance issues?

I believe the bookshelf issue is occuring because the devs tried to patch the glitch where people used bookshelves and the Oghma book for infinite skill increase, and this issue with the bookshelves working twice has arisen. At least this is what me and two of my friends believe and we are having the issue with all bookshelves. Have you tested the problem in other houses, whiterun for example?

At the very end of "Darkness Falls", Nocturnal speaks to you. Then you are prompted to talk to Karliah. Every time you try, she just restates "Hello, fellow Nightingale". There is nothing else to activate in the room, and I receive no "this person is busy" messages. Waiting many hours makes no difference.

I have re-loaded various save points, and even played through the quest a second time because the first time through I didn't complete the optional objective (read the journal re: Pilgrims Progress). I was hoping that fulfilling the other objective might make a difference, but nay nay: The related achievement is DENIED!


I should also note that, back in Rifton/Thieves Guild, Brynholf is nowhere to be found, and I always have at least one Delvin/Vex quests open (can't clear one quest-fishing, shill,numbers, etc.-without starting another one).

Tested this with whiterun,solitude and riften all same issue, dunno why they even should bother fixing it if people wanna use the book to bump skills let them, its no diff then people duping items in oblivion

I searched around and couldn't find anything listed, so here we go.

Jarl, Elisif the Fair of Solitude is missing after finishing the Stormcloak side quest.

Any quest leading to her can not be completed, like the Radiant Raiment quest. With her gone it's impossible to buy Proudspire Manor, which in turn makes it impossible to finish the quest No Stone Unturned (Crown of Barenziah), which awards you with Prowler's Profit.

Note: I was able to complete Objective: Meet Viarmo inside the Blue Palace during Tending the Flames for the bard's college with the jarl missing by attacking the guards. After I attacked the guards, NPC's ran around and I received the complete message for the quest (I actually just did this just out of frustration). I would suggest doing all Solitude related quests before joining the Stormcloaks or just join the Empire.

I really hope Bethesda fixes all of the broken quests in this game, not being able to finish the above is quite unacceptable.

Thing is, you don't actually need a bookshelf to use the Oghma glitch. This is all you need to do:

1) With the book in your inventory, read it and select your chosen path
2) Immediately drop the book on ground before it disappears
3) Pick the book up off the ground and place it inside any container (this can be a dresser, a barrel, anything)
4) Remove the book from the container and repeat these steps

I haven't seen this issue mentioned yet.

On the XBOX 360, the option for changing my field of view has been completely removed. Be default it is assigned to the right stick. I've since changed it to many other buttons, but each in turn fails to respond while being depressed. Basically, I'm stuck in first-person view, and I hate first-person view.

So, basically, my controller works fine. Every other action maps perfectly and works perfectly. I just can't change my view.

I dont know if this has been said yet but there are three major issues I am encountering which prevent me entirely from playing the game. I have a brand new xbox (literally bought it day I got skyrim) and played it for around 8 hours without issue before it started freezing. All other games play flawlessly by the way. The freezings began to increase until it wouldn't even load anymore. Can someone PLEASE address this, my xbox is just sitting because this game wont work.

1. The load screen freezes or it does not load at all
2. The game crashes before it even loads
3. The game freezes or crashes very frequently in gameplay

Edit: Sorry didnt read that you HAD tried other games. Might be faulty disc then?

Have Also Noticed Freezing and changeing from one location to another. it is not xbox related as i have the game on steam and it crashes to desktop. only thing in common is it usualy starts about 6 hrs of gameplay in. and again every 4 hours,

Quest 1 (Hired Muscle)- It is a quest given to you by Farkas and he assigns you random people to brawl with and it is normally very buggy because of this reason because some are assigned NPC's in certain areas that are counted as "trespassing" that makes the option to brawl with them, or NPC's that have been killed which is also the case for me and makes the quest unbeatable therefore making the it so you can't progress through the Companions guild questline.

Quest 2 (Reparing the Phial)- Is a quest given to you after completing the "White Phial" quest which you have to find the White Phial for Nurelion which come to find out the Phial is cracked which leads to this quest which is normally started by a Courier that gives you a letter from Quintius Navale who works with Nurelion who tells you he knows how to fix the White Phial and gives you a list of 3 items to get which it contains a Brior Heart which if you already have one when you start the quest will make it so the quest never updates so you can't give it to Quintius which breaks the quest and makes it so you can't complete it.

Yup, same thing is happening to me as well. I didn't think the textures were too bad before 1.2. Now the pop in is much more frequent and abrupt. One time as I was walking from the market in Whiterun to my house the whole outer wall was missing around the entrance. The door was still there but everything around it was gone. It didn't reappear until I got just past my house.

Exactly the same thing... Draw distance is really unacceptable by now!!
And I precise that I'm not with 1.2 but with 1.1.19...
So it isn't because of High rez textures....
Some rocks appears when I 'm already very close to them.... it wasn't the case before...
That is the most annoying for me.... The game was so beautiful!!

Does anyone else get backwards flying dragons with 1.19? I downdated back to 1.19 the day 1.2 came out but recently I have been getting the backwards flying dragons.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already, I did check the list in the OP but it only said post patch.

Edit: I have brief video proof on my phone if need be

Bleak Falls Barrow: Dragonstone gone (main quest bug).

This actually appears to be two related bugs:

1) The mob that is supposed to drop the dragonstone in Bleak Falls Barrow may not be lootable after killing it.

2) If the Dragonstone is not retrieved from the mob at the time it is killed, the corpse may dissapear permanently, making it impossible to complete the Bleak Falls Barrow quest or proceed any further with the main quest.

I am not sure the exact trigger of either of these, but it may be caused by completing Bleak Falls Barrow (the area) during the Golden Claw Quest but before obtaining Bleak Falls Barrow (the quest). I, unfortunately, did not know that the mob was supposed to drop anything, and now my main quest seems to be irreparably broken :(

If you have cured being a Werewolf DO NOT accept any of the Totems of Hircine quests OR YOU WILL BE PERMANENTLY STUCK WITH AELA. These quests are still available to you but require you to access the Underforge to turn them in. Curing being a werewolf removes this access and it is irreversible.

Aela comes with you on the first quest and since you cannot access the Underforge you cannot get rid of her, dismiss her, kill her or swop her for another character. To make it worse she only lasts around 2 hits before she is downed and you cannot trade her any gear. She also ruins any sections where you use stealth as she gives away your position every time.

This potentially ends any other quests which require a companion to join you.

I had her with me for hours before I went to the Underforge to hand this in and found out the hard way. Now had her with me ever since and she is such a burden.

This is a re-re post of a re-re-re post but I have no idea if it falling on deaf ears, I appreciate Bethesda cannot respond to all messages but acknowledgement of the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Please add a fix to an upcoming patch where full access to the Underforge is granted once it is opened regardless of Werewolf status.

The Mind of Madness quest glitch.......

Once you have the key to the Pelagius Wing of the Blue Palace and proceed walking through the wing.... boom GLITCH. The game freezes up, strips you of your clothing and will start processing every button you hit extremely slow. Ive tried it multiple time with no luck, one time I even just let it sit in the glitch for like 20 minutes and it actually got me to a load screen but the load screen was endless. Since this is apart of the Daedric artifact achievement I believe this should be patched.

Issue #1: Quest items not being removed from inventory. I have done the entire Bard's College quests. None of the items will remove from inventory after you turn them in. I am stuck with the Drum, Flute & Lyre. I have completed the Elder Scroll quest & I am stuck with the Scroll as well. Now, you might think this to be a minor issue, but if you want to play a mage type (and eschew Stamina) you are stuck around 30 pounds of unsaleable/ unusable items weighting you down.

Issue #2: Bard's College not rewarding the Gift for Gab perk.

Issue #3 (major): Unable to get any Winterhold Radiant quests for Mastery when my magic skill is at 90+. This is a serious break as it prevents learning / access to high end spells.

I agree that this needs to be fixed. Stuck quest items annoy the crap out of me, but are you sure they're actually weighing you down? Every quest item I've run across so far displays a weight value in it's description (e.g. The Elder Scroll which displays a weight value of 20) but they don't actually weigh anything. Check by removing else from your inventory and looking at your total encumbrance.

Here's a new bug I'm encountering.
Every time I highlight this sword I got in my Inventory the game freezes up and I have to restart my system. The sword is an Orcish Greatsword of Ice: Target takes 15pts. of frost dmg to health and stam. I got it in Hag's End. It first happened when I was putting stuff away in my weapons chest. Now every time without fail I'll go to it and the game locks up. Inside my house, outside, in a different city, where ever.
Guess I'll just carry it around, and anything else that I pick up that's listed under it till it works itself out or there's a patch. Good thing it was Orcish and not Daedric!

I was able to get rid of it. Uninstalled the game from my HDD then cleared the system cache. Then played the game from the disc. I was able to go to it in my inventory with no problems where I proceeded to drop that svcker.

If anyone is having issues with inventory lock ups give this a try. :celebration:
