I am looking for a copy of this game, but I need to know where I can get it. Game of the Year Edition.

I found mine at a store called Game Trader. I think it's just a local independently owned store though.

GameStop won't have it, because they don't see original X-Box titles (Morrowind / Morrowind GOTY is an X-Box title, not X-Box 360 - just in case your thread title isn't a typo)

Check out any local stores that deal in used games, you can probably find one there. If not, then definitely check out amazon.

^ Mine works fine. Dusted off my 8 year old copy in early February after clearing out and getting bored with Skyrim, and literally just polished off a major character today after finishing all 3 MQs. What a great game.

^ ... Yes, Morrowind GOTY Edition (Xbox) works fine on Xbox 360. It's backwards compatible... It works great, except for the excruciating loading times when you start a new game, or die and have to reload... Other than that, it's really good!!! Also the PC version is fantastic due to the extremely fast loading times, and optional mods, and content you can create on your own and upload onto the web for everyone elses enjoyment! It's pretty much endless with the mod community... Which is why we need to keep it alive for pretty much forever if possible! Anyway, Xbox GOTY has no problems running on 360 so go get it if you can find it! They may have a copy if you visit your local pawn shops or thrift stores. Just make sure it's not all scratched up!!

It's terrible on the 360. I know, a number of people had fine experiences, like the posters above me, but you should know all the sides - I had a complete crap experience with Xbox 360 and the GOTY edition. The game froze every ten minutes and I encountered constant glitches. PC or original Xbox is the way to go, in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, the game is plenty unstable on my 360. Of course, it was plenty unstable on my old xbox back in the day, too. It's Morrowind, and unpatched versions were NEVER stable. Once you have put a fair amount of gameplay time into a character, glitches and crashes and freezes are really just part of the deal. It's frustrating, but it's still worth playing.

Morrowind doesn't even run on my 360. My 360 keep saying "Does not support. Go to XL for a download that may support it." or w/e it says for me.

This is why I have Morrowind on de' computer!

Yeah, so if you have an internet connection on your Xbox then you can download an update that'll make it work.

But yeah, it is best to play it on the PC.

So, I'm about to order the GOTY version. Reading this thread, and talking to friends who have Morrowind, the results are still 50/50 where half say it doesn't work, and half says it does......
What to do?
Or should I blow off Morrowind and go Skyrim?
My son and I have our hearts set on Morrowind, but I do not have the time or inclination to spend hours on the Internet looking for a fix, when I should just be able to play. I'm fine with some bugs and crashes, this IS Bethesda after all. I just want to know the stability projection.
Any advice?

Is there anything stopping you from going PC, or do you just prefer the Xbox?

The kids and I chose the 360 way back when. So that's where we are. I'm a Mac, though it's used more as a graphic station. The next mac purchase, I will install windows as well.

I'd say the only question is whether your 360 has an Internet connection. If yes, you'll be fine. If no, either find a way to hook it up to Internet just for an hour or so, or go with Skyrim instead. You NEED to be able to download the update for Morrowind to work on 360. Once you do that, it doesn't have to remain connected afterwards. I've never had any problems with it on mine - sure, sometimes there are freezes or glitches, but that's true of Skyrim too (and Oblivion).

Edit: You won't have to spend hours searching, don't worry. The 360 will find and download the update automatically when you try to put the game disc in and play, assuming the box is connected to Xbox Live, otherwise you'l get an error message. When I said "an hour" I just meant the average time to haul your Xbox over to another part of the house or a friend's house and hook up the connection and install the game and download the update, then disconnect everything and put it back where it was, then start playing. It likely won't actually take a full hour.
