Xbox 360 loaded a random Instagram picture?

Post » Tue Dec 31, 2013 2:41 pm

Okay. So, completely randomly at 1AM in the morning (so nobody else is online in the house), my Xbox 360 exited its Netflix app and loaded up someone's clearly private Instagram photo. How is this possible? How can I stop it too? I know this sounds crazy, but trust me on it.

Lock down your wireless router.

The wireless router is all password protected and stuff. Could it be their Smartglass app? That lets you send stuff rather randomly without the Xbox user's permission. I know because a friend accidently sent music from his phone once...

I'm guessing 'clearly private' means something that can't be linked on this forum. :D

More than likely. Windows SOP is to release software that let's everyone access everything else, then patch lock things down with security patches. You need to change the Security settings of the program to only allow your Friends access.

Because, if this person sent you an illegal picture, your just as busted for having it.

It wasn't really rude or anything, but it clearly want a picture to be shown around.

When I said private, I didn't mean something vulgar our illegal. But still, I think that might have been it. Xbox had local DONA or whatever it is called. You can send stuff to it. Probably someone accidently on their phone. If it happens again, now that I've disabled unknown devices accessing it ( xbox can access PCs but not other way round), I'll investigate routers.

I said that about the photo more to make you think about the security of your devices and who you allow to post things to it or on them. If you ever get a photo that you know is not kosher, delete it as soon as possible, without forwarding it, that way you more than likely would avoid any issues, should they arise, from what was sent out, that you did not ask for....
