Xbox 360 vs. PS3 Graphics Comparison Video

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 6:24 pm

Video Here.

Sup guys, I've been working on comparison videos over the last couple of weeks or so, and with the release of the Crysis 2 demo on Playstation 3 I was able to compare the console versions against each other, as well as the PC version.

Thanks a ton to any who take the time to view the video, your feedback is always appreciated - both in this forum and comments section of the video.

So, in your opinion, who won?

The major difference seems to be contrast and saturation - for me the XBOX looks better because I prefer the stronger shadows and richer colours. I would assume that you could tweak your TV settings to achieve the same look on the PS3 though.

oh wow

aside from the fact the brightness is way off and should be evened out it does look like a lot of textures are muddier in the PS3 version and what's up with the HUD being that fuzzy?

aside for that they are pretty much identical

The recording equipment used was the hauppage hd pvr, it records the feed from the console using gold plated component cables. The brightness settings on the television have nothing to do with the raw footage, what you're seeing is pure video feed from the console itself.

The only difference for me is the contrast.
But in another vid, the PS3 looks clearly better.

Mountaindude: no it does not

Sup: I was not doubting your tech, PS3 versions of any multiplatformgame do look like that sadly compared to 360

I hate the fact the PS3 gets the ports all the time.

Thats why exclusives are always better. Because developers always develope for XBOX and than port to PS3

Thanks for the video Sup. I was wondering when you were gonna get around to it.

And from a static perspective, I think people over-react on this forum. The PS3 version is not as good as the 360, but it is not crap by any means, when static that is. The big issue is the frame-rate. If they get that to stay at 30 no matter what it will still look great.

Some people just really love to over-react, exhaggerate, and are prone to hyperbole I guess. From the way people on these forums talk you would assume the difference between the two versions was the same as the difference between the two versions of the orginal FEAR.

Thanks for the feedback.

I usually stay largely impartial to any discussion about how the games actually compare, but it has to be said that the framerate on the PS3 truly is a major issue. I can only hope it's been worked on.

Can anyone confirm than Crytek pulled the demo from the PSN marketplace today? I don't have access to my console to check.

Yeah, it's official that they have taken down the PS3 demo.

I never thought they would be that ashamed of their own product.

I have to admit, even compared to the Xbox 360 demo the PS3 performed poorly.
