i havent downloaded the patch yet but from what i hear theres some sort VATS freezing bug now thats been happening to people who update, on top of the freezing not being resolved. thanx bethesda for the new bug!

Just a quick question, as the posts have been just vague enough that I'm not completely sure. When the Come Fly With Me Bug happens, does it affect any saves that you had from before you took on the quest, or does it corrupt all saves? I've been avoiding doing the quest at all, since it doesn't seem to be part of the main quest, and I've been fine, but I'd like to test it out in case my version is ok. I'm worried that it would corrupt more saves than just the ones after I take on the quest. Are the people complaining of all their saves and time being gone people that only use a couple of save slots and therefore all of them are post-CFWM, and thus all corrupted? If I save before tackling the quest, and then future saves get corrupted, will my prior save be safe?

i had one save that was after i had the quest, when you are supposed to get rocket parts and some radio active stuff that still worked before i accidentally saved over it, so im pretty sure it doesnt affect anyone who took the quest but doesnt complete it or hasnt got it at all. but after all i completed it just fine and my freezing happened at the HELIOS one plant, and ive heard of other places where the bug has been happening too which leads me to not feel safe anywhere

So I just loaded up a game that was working. It was right before you talk to jason for the come fly with me quest. I went through and completed it again and did multiple saves. Once you talk to Jason the error starts with saves. After completing the whole mission I went to save and reload and it is still saying needs DLC that is not available. I did start a new character which is going better then my other, but I got to the come fly with me quest and I really dont want to go past this till we are told something.

I am a little upset that this is happening. I am really upset of the lack of updates and what updates we do get is vague at best (by updates I mean communication about what is going on).

I ended up starting over once I got this bug...I deleted all of my old saves, uninstalled the DLC, cleared the cache and download the update and so far everything is working fine. Then again, I've been careful to avoid the "Come Fly With Me" quest but so far everything seems to be functioning properly.

I have this bug also, just finished "Come Fly with Me" when both the autosave and the 3rd save both corrupted this way. All of my saves are now affected and I'm rather annoyed. Please fix this ASAP as I don't want to put in too many hours into another character.

So does that include saves you had made from before you'd completed the quest?

Van, I had a save BEFORE I spoke with Jason and that save was just fine when all the saves AFTER the mission was completed wouldn't load at all and my problems occurred when I beat that quest and made it to Boulder city. Once that happened and I tried to reload a file or cut the xbox off, come back play where I left off, that's is when you get the error that your DLC is missing and that your saves can't load. But, the save BEFORE you speak with jason for the first time always works.

Isn't that just a pure mess? SIGH* I am having to start over again and then time, I am not doing the story line. Not initially. :thumbsdown:

omg this just happened to me its the same excact thing on the first post. this is un called for! i cant even play the game!! this needs to get fixed now!

this is the same situation with me i just finished "come fly with me" and this happened....

Same thing has happened to me as well. I completed "Come Fly with Me", and all of my saves refuse to load. Same error message about DLC. I have the patch but my old saves still will not load.

@Pockyman & @NOsAm: We are going to have to start all over again. I know....I am po'ed about it, too. But, the saves are not salvageable, unfortunately. :brokencomputer:

who said they were unsalvagable? and why would i start over if its just going to happen again it needs to get fixed now!!

Well, given all the trouble we have been having...nothing, so far, has been done to get the saves working. The logical reason would be to start over. I know how upset you are and I know you don't wanna do it, I don't blame you. But, what other option is there besides waiting for a decent patch? I know this is something you don't want to hear, but for now, this is all we have to go on. Otherwise, you can take your game back and not have anything play at all literally.

Just trying to be realistic about this messed up situation. Please, don't place your frustrations out on me. I was just handing you information. Unfortunate information, but information none-the-less. What you plan to do about it is your own business.

I agree but I also think its crazy that they don't just say: start over....blah blah... i would if the saves are unsalvagable.. otherwise ill just wait.

im no taking my frustrations out on u. im just saying this is stupid i dont mind if theres a couple glitches in a game that dont affect it much its fine i deal with it but when it affects the whole game its hard not to get mad when u cant even play it and the fact that they havnt fixed this yet (shouldnt have happened in the first place)

I can understand that...but, if I am going to have issues, as much as I feel jipped out of $60, I am taking upon myself to use that $60 to the best of my ability. This will be my first start over...and I plan to do all that I can, based on what I have read here, to avoid the issues...I don't want to stop if I haven't done ALL that I can on my end to fix the problem. That is all I am trying to say. Until I have done EVERYTHING, I won't stop. No matter how frustrated I am with this game.

I just won't stop until I do my part.


@NOsAm: I understand. I was mad about all night when this started happening to me. But, while I am wasting energy being angry, I could be trying to find ways to WORK AROUND the issue if not avoid at all. That is what I am trying to say. But, everyone here has a right to feel and do what they please with this game. It's not going to make Obisdian/bethesda work any faster as these are HUMAN BEINGS, too. Yes, this should not have happened. Yes, we paid A LOT of cash for this game, but there is nothing we can do about it now except for waiting for the patch, starting the game over, and trying to work around the issues. It's a heck of a lot better than just sitting there mad and staring at the game case wishing it would work.

you cant really "work around" it. and i know there humans im just ranting cuz this makes me mad cuz now i have to redo it all and i was pretty far. im not going to start a new game, im going to wait and see if obsidain/bethesda can resolve this issue. i have other stuff to do in life than waste my time redoing this game anyways

Well, that's fine. That is YOUR prerogative. Whatever anyone chooses to do to handle this situation is not wrong or right. Its using logically their decision. I plan to WORK AROUND it. If it can't be done, fine. But, I won't let anyone else tell that I can't work around it the way I want to. From what I understand, the saves are lost. It would seem so since all that I have done has not been able to fix it and the update hasn't been able to fix and it may be at least TWO WEEKS before we see a fix for it! As much as I hate it, it happens and I'd rather continue on trying to get my $60 worth with this game. It's something that I am going to do that may work for me. It's pretty hard being mad all day. I lost sleep because of it, but it won't happen again tonight.

If I run into anymore issues, it won't be because I didn't try to fix the problem. At least I will know that it was nothing that I did that caused the issue and I find a way to avoid the issues, if anyone wants to hear, I will share the information with them. But, regardless of that, you are angry. I can feel that. So am I. All I was trying to do was help you see other bright sides in a dark situation. Not every one will receive it that way and I will be sure to just keep my mouth shut and let everyone just suffer aimlessly without a voice of reason next time.

sorry i didn't bother reading through all of the comments but i was wondering what level every one was at when the glitch hit, i played to roughly the same point twice with two different characters, and both times they were level 8, i may also agree with some of the comments i did read where the Come fly away mission could have caused it.
here are my two scenarios

Game Broke 1st after
Completion of "Come fly away mission" and a little further on to the "boulder city" mission.
Level 8

Game Broke 2nd after
Mostly completing the "Come fly away mission"
Level 8

Maybe a combination of perks and traits are the issue, but any way those are my 2 cents

yea i get what your saying and no u can say whatever you want I AM just saying that im going to wait till the fix this so that if i start a new one i dont want this to happen again cuz if it does there another 5hours down they drain and im going to have to restart it AGAIN and i will be even more mad so id rather wait haha.

Got exact same problem here game was great... not a single bug in 5-6 hours gameplay then after i completed "the come fly with me quest" the next time i tried to load all my save games were having this DLC problem i had heard of this quest doing this to save games but honestly i didnt believe it until i seen it for my self

It's uncanny. Exactly the same scenario with me -- I tried using two Salesmen Weekly magazines, failed a character dialog anyway, reloaded the savegame, and boom, got the error. Have tried to load FOUR previous manual saves, all with the same error.

If these savegame files are corrupt, I've lost four hours of game time.

BTW, I'm using the Mercenary Pack.
