Had nothing to do with REPCONN for me. Every time I enter The Strip, the screen goes black and my Xbox freezes. I don't know if this can be so easily nailed down to any one point in the game.

i've gone to and from the strip quite a number of times and have gotten no bugs aside from the game freezing twice at wolfhorn ranch and the weathered 10mm pistol bug (i just didnt use it and thankful i saved beforehand). hell, i played for 5 straight hours today and not an issue was found. i just hope to hell im lucky.

It doesn't have anything to do with the spacesuit, I didn't get the spacesuit in REPCONN and still got the bug after finishing come fly with me. I'm almost back to the mission and I'm going to try and investigate it. I hope someone comes up with something before I do though. Guess I'll stay away from the strip as long as possible too.

when does the come fly with me quest occur? is it after you confront benny or before or what? if its pretty far in the storyline, try not to spoil it.

I was trying not to spoil it, I dont think it's very far. I went back through after my file got screwed and got to it in about 3 hours while doing a few side missions as well. I guess it's before Benny? I dont remember encountering Benny yet. It's in novac, thats as much spoiling as I'll do.

This svcks for those that are being hit by this bug. It's inexcusable in my opinion. I've been pretty lucky and have only had to suffer the occasional enemy under the ground problem. A couple other problems including one unmarked quest (but it's in my notes) to kill someone. I can't turn it in, no biggie though as it's not a chain or anything.


Some tips that have helped me avoid game ending bugs from ruining my games.

I use no less than 7 save files (not including auto-save). I make sure the oldest save is more than 4 hours old, so I save about every half hour. Four hours is a long time, but starting from there if you have to is better than losing 12 hours of game time. Two saves + auto save is just inviting disaster in this type of game, in any RPG for that matter.

Also, I turn off auto-save unless I plan to do a lot of fast traveling to buy/sell/repair. Auto-save seems to be the root of a great many corrupt save issues.

Another day and still no new information? This is getting absurd. We need to hear something besides a generic, "we're working on it". Yes, you get paid to support your games so I know you are working on it, but at least give us information pertaining to the issues. Can our saves be rescued or should we just stop waiting for it to happen? You said in a "read this first before posting" thread that if you have a corrupted save, revert to an old one. For those of us who do have a still working one from earlier in the game, who's to say we won't get the same bug again? Why would you have us continue playing the game if the bug isn't fixed. I assumed that when you gave those tips that a bug fix had been put out. Without a bug fix, we'll just be in the same boat with yet another save ruined and an afternoon worth of time lost.

You guys need to say something about this. We all paid good money for your product, even in it's broken state. Let us know what the hell is going on.

I love fallout 3 and was going to buy this on Friday but after reading all the bugs im getting vanquish instead. Good job bethesda.

Fallout New Vegas is a great game. From what I've played, it's fun as hell. I just can't recommend something that's unplayable in it's current state. Why put 10 hours into a game if you risk losing it all?

kinda wishing i had waited for fable 3 right now, if i had known about all these bugs, i would not have bought. I loved fo3 and i hate bugs. please fix this asap if you want to save the rep of your company.....

I also would love an update on this. I need to know if I should start playing through it again.

Also, I think the glitch happens after "Come Fly With Me" but it has nothing to do with the space suit. I did not pick this up and got the error at Helios One after trying load a previous game save manually in the game menu.

I'm having the same exact problem like you it happen to me yesterday 11:00 p.m eastern time. My play time was 026.11.53 . So you guys know how I feel? I play this game so much because the story is great and I love this game alot. Please first this issue first. Before I'm going to return this game.

This is a game breaker? Did you install extra DLC? Bethesda confirmed that PS3 version had the same issue. Maybe XBOX 360 had it too...
I can also CONFIRM that this bug has nothing to do with the Come Fly With Me mission or the space suit. I completed the mission and picked up the space suit and never encountered it. I am close to finishing the game and i never installed the classic pack from Gstop....

I think i also has to do with the come fly away mission.



I saved right before i finished the come fly away mission. Which that save works fine.

I am thinking of starting a new game and stop up at that point and see what happens

Through trial and error, i found the exact spot that me game file corrupts. every save before i talk to Jason Bright (telling him i killed all the nightkin) works. The save file right after that is broken. I tested it by saveing and reloading over and over again.

I already got the achievement for finishing that quest, so I wonder if it's possible to just skip it altogether?

im scared to even play anymore, please patch asap. I cant believe this even got thru microsoft product testing, o wait yeah i can....

I also have the issue where all of my save files are not corrupted but I cannot load them because it says my save device is no longer available. It first gives me the message about the DLC not being available. I have read forums about the issue so let me give you some background:

I bought the collectors edition and I have the DLC.

1. Where am I: I saved inside the NRC ranger station main bldg in the South West. I have already done the come fly away with me mission and was able to leave afterward and do other things... but i never died or had to reload. like 2 hours later is when i quit for the day, then the next day the bug started.

2. I picked up the Spacesuit, but do not have it on my person. It is in the safe in Novac.

3. I do have a companion, The sniper guy, can't think of his name. He is with me in the bldg when i saved. All of my save files I have a companion now. I think that's something no one has mentioned so far...do any of you guys have files that won't load and have a companion?

4. I have not been to the strip. I have not activated any other companion.

5. I have had the game randomly freeze going into buildings and id have to hard reset the box. But however I was always able to load afterward. until now.

6. I want to know if a patch can fix save files or do i need to start over.....

We all need to know about 6. there.

Agreed, mainly I wanted to post about the companion thing since that seems to be common factor for me. I am not sure if that's also a common factor for many of the people that have had this issue.

There is a way to skip it. Go inside Manny Vargas's room in Novac and there is a terminal that will give you all the information you need to continue the main quest.

I live in the UK and have pre ordered the collectors edition which I will be getting tomorrow. Ive been waiting a year for this game and this week has been very slow in waiting for it. Now, after reading all of this Im scared of having what was supposed to be my greatest game ever tarnished by bugs, cos the devs didnt test it properly. Im just hopeful theyll get a patch out to fix the persistent freezing, enemies glitching and, of course, this bug. If they dont get one out, I think Ill just carry on with good ol' Fallout 3 for the time being. Im not prepared to put 15 hours in, just to get this bug taking it all away. Its disgraceful how it was rushed out to compete with CoD, Fable and to be ready for Christmas. Not just the bugs, but the dated visuals and gameplay could have been touched up a little, at least so that they look exactly like Fallout 3. However after putting hundreds of hours in Fallout 3, im too used to it to complain much. Pleeease get a patch out!!!

Don't get your hopes up. I'd be extremely shocked if a patch is able to repair corrupted save files. I'd plan on starting over from scratch.

same here, just add +1 to the count for bugged out games. Same place, except was on the quest for boone to find the perp. couldnt get the dialouge for anyone to follow me, so saved, and reloaded...to my dismay, "apparently" i dont have "the dlc" required, and some bs about my save spot has changed?? I dont know, just want it fixed....pease.

i dont think its the files being corrupted that makes the bug, probably faulty coding, possibly wrote in for the xbox exclusive (since it dosent seem other platforms have this problem) early DLC release.
